Top 10 Best Theatrical Disney Princess Movies

So Disney is doing this thing called "Dream Big Princess" and they're gonna be showing a few of the Disney princess films in AMC theaters. I'm already planning on seeing Mulan. Anyway, I decided to make this list because of that. And since some of these princess films got direct to dvd sequels, I want to make it clear that this list should only include the theatrical princess films.
The Top Ten
1 Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney films because it has such a fantastic story and message! It's what's on the inside that matters. Belle liked Beast for the kind of person he was underneath that creepy look of his.

Paige O'Hara is a great actress! She gave so much emotion that it made me really care about Belle even more. As for Emma Watson, she showed absolutely no emotion and made me wish the character got eaten by wolves!

To sum it up, this movie is miles better than the remake! I still don't know why they decided to remake this movie.

2 Mulan

Even though I've seen this movie a million times, I'm going to watch it in a movie theater when they start showing it in select theaters for a limited time! (Looks up date) Oh. Apparently that's the same weekend Kingsman: The Golden Circle comes out. Totally forgot about that movie. Well, I guess it won't hurt to see two movies in one weekend.

Mulan is my favorite Disney princess! She's pretty much everything that you would want in a princess! She's courageous, beautiful, tough, and she cares a lot about her family. The only thing is she's not technically a princess in the movie. But Disney decided to make her an official Disney princess because she committed a true act of heroism. So she deserves to be called a princess!

As for the movie itself, I love it! The comedy works out pretty well, and I really enjoy the other characters too! Mushu is absolutely hilarious, until they completely ruined him in the sequel. I'm still angry about that!

3 Tangled

Tangled! The story about a girl named Rapunzel who is held prisoner in a tower by a lady who wants to use Rapunzel's hair to stay young forever! This movie has a phenomenal story and phenomenal characters as well! Rapunzel is one of my favorite Disney princesses. She can be a bit of a Mary Sue, but she still manages to be a very well-developed character. Flynn/Eugene is my favorite character simply because he is hilarious. Maximus and Pascal are quite possibly two of the best animal sidekicks ever!

Even the villain of the film, Mother Gothel, is great! She actually seems very intimidating. I love Mandy Moore's voice acting in this! She gives great emotion to the character of Rapunzel. The movie currently has a TV show on Disney Channel. I actually enjoy it! The best part of the show would probably have to be Eden Espinosa. She has such a hot voice, and I loved her as Elphaba in Wicked! By the way, Eden Espinosa actually liked and retweeted one of my tweets last month! I'm not even joking! I almost fainted when I saw that.

4 Aladdin

Aladdin is such an amazing Disney princess! He is brave, he is tough, and he is heroic! What more could you want in a Disney princess? Wait. Aladdin isn't the princess in this film? Jasmine is? But the movie is called Aladdin! It focuses mostly on Aladdin! So you're telling me that even though Jasmine is an official Disney princess, she's not the main character of the movie? Why would they do that!?

Doesn't matter though. This movie is amazing! The relationship between Aladdin and Jasmine feels very natural. The songs are great, and the characters are great! The "A Whole New World" scene has brilliant animation. It's my favorite scene in the movie!

I already bought tickets to see the Aladdin Broadway musical at the Pantages Theatre in February! Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies! Too bad it's getting a live-action remake in 2019 with Will Smith as the Genie and that girl from Power Rangers as Jasmine.

5 The Princess and the Frog

Anika Noni Rose can serenade me any day with that beautiful voice of hers. The Princess and the Frog is a criminally underrated work of art! It's the last Disney princess film to be animated in 2D animation. Not the last 2D animated Disney film, however. Winnie the Pooh was the last, making this the second to last. I don't think anyone really hates this film, but not a lot of people seem to talk about it much. It honestly deserves much more attention!

Every single character is amazing, and every single song is amazing! There are some story problems, but the plot is excellent. The thing that makes Tiana stand out from the other princesses is that she is a hard worker! That's what I like about her the most. This movie also has one of the best Disney villains ever - Dr. Facilier! This guy is awesome, and he even has a great song! So brilliant!

Also, there's a theory that Ray's girlfriend, Evangeline, is the Blue Fairy. I honestly don't find that hard to believe. In fact, I actually think it's true. It makes a whole lot of sense. Hopefully, the writers of the movie will eventually confirm or debunk that theory.

6 Sleeping Beauty
7 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This is not only the first Disney princess film to be released, it's the first feature-length Disney movie to be released! That makes it a lot more special.

The character of Snow White is very fascinating! I know not everyone is going to agree with that, but I really like her. I like how she acts like a mother toward the dwarfs.

The Evil Queen is one of my favorite Disney villains! Although, when she was using a potion to turn herself into an old hag, why couldn't she use one to make herself look prettier than Snow White? I never understood that.

I have a fun time every time I watch Snow White! The dwarfs are so funny! Grumpy is the one I relate to the most. Very great movie!

8 The Little Mermaid

I don't think there's such a thing as a person who hates this film! It really is pretty good! Excellent animation, excellent songs, and excellent characters! There's pretty much nothing wrong with this film, except for one thing. Ariel! She is one of the worst Disney characters of all time, and the fact that she's the protagonist is just infuriating!

Everything that happens in this film is because of her stupidity. People try to defend her by saying she just made a mistake. Uh, no she didn't! She pretty much made a deal with an evil sea witch, and the fact that the TV series showed us that they've met before makes this even worse. She signs a contract that she didn't read, and she did all this to be with a guy! That's not a mistake. That's just selfishness! No pun intended.

But the actual good stuff in the movie is so good that I can't say this is a bad movie. Ariel may be the worst Disney princess, but this is definitely not the worst Disney princess movie.

9 Moana

Moana is the most recent Disney princess film to come out. Personally, I think it's kind of overrated because out of all the Disney movies, this is by far the most cliché one. There are so many Disney clichés that it could be a drinking game! Also, Hei Hei is extremely annoying. He's just a chicken who doesn't help out with the plot at all.

But I must say, I kind of like this film! The animation may not be mind-blowing, but it's still very well done! The two main characters are pretty likable. I also like the songs! This was basically Dwayne Johnson's last good film. F8 of the Furious was garbage, Baywatch was garbage, the new Jumanji movie looks like garbage, and they're making a Jungle Cruise movie which I think will be garbage because I don't care for the ride! That movie will probably be filled with terrible puns! Moana's not perfect, but it's still a good film.

10 Brave

I don't get the hate for this film. I think it's pretty good. It's weak by Pixar standards, but I still enjoy it. This is the first Disney princess film to be released by Pixar, making Merida the only Disney princess to come from Pixar. There's this one hilarious joke in a scene from Wreck-It Ralph 2 that I won't give away here, but it cracked me up!

I feel like Brave did an excellent job capturing what a mother-daughter relationship looks like. It kind of reminds me of the relationship between my mother and my sister. The animation is great! Merida is a very likable character. I must admit though that the trailers were very misleading. They had us believe that it was about a girl who goes on adventures, but instead, it was about the girl's mother being turned into a bear.

I'm not saying that the story we got is bad, but I probably would've preferred it if it was more of an adventure movie. It's not Pixar great, but still pretty good. Definitely better than Cars 2 and Monsters University!

The Contenders
11 Cinderella (1950)

Cinderella is a pretty great film! This was actually the first Disney princess film I ever watched, or the first one that I remember watching. Still, I remember it from my childhood! It still remains one of the best Disney princess films for how magical it is and for how great the characters are.

However, the movie isn't perfect. Sometimes I feel like the movie focuses mostly on the mice rather than the human characters. I also find it weird that the glass slippers were the only things that stayed considering that the spell wore off at midnight. Also, the prince apparently didn't care about Cindy enough to actually recognize what her face looks like! Instead, he had to find her by having the women in town try on a slipper! And what are the odds that no one else had the same size foot as her?

But despite these flaws, I really enjoy the movie! Can't say the same for the 2015 remake though.
