Best Devil May Cry Games

The Top Ten
  1. Devil May Cry 3

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening was released in 2005 and serves as a prequel to the original game, focusing on Dante's early years. The story explores his rivalry with his twin brother Vergil and the events leading to his role as a demon hunter. The game introduced a style-based combat system allowing players to switch between different fighting techniques.

The best game ever! The story is great, and the music is incredible. Still the best DMC of all time.

Awesome! The son of Sparda, Dante, is ready to slash more evil. The upcoming Devil May Cry X edition will be released soon!

The best game ever! This is my favorite one.

  2. Devil May Cry 4

Released in 2008, Devil May Cry 4 introduced a new protagonist named Nero while retaining Dante as a key character. The narrative follows Nero's confrontation with the Order of the Sword, a religious group with hidden demonic ties. The game was notable for its "Devil Bringer" mechanic, which allowed players to grapple enemies and execute special attacks.

Great storyline that follows Nero, the son of Vergil, as he tries to get his friend back. The music is fantastic. All in all, a great game.

Nero: "From that day forth, my arm changed... And a voice echoed... 'Power... Give me more, power!'"

Could it be that Vergil manifested himself to Nero?

Hands down the best Devil May Cry game out there! This one is one of my personal favorites!

  3. Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5 launched in 2019 and continued the main storyline featuring Dante, Nero, and a new character named V. Set several years after the fourth installment, the game centers on a demonic invasion linked to a giant tree called Qliphoth. It used the RE Engine for advanced visuals and reintroduced multiple playable characters with distinct combat styles.

We'll just have to wait and see.

  4. Devil May Cry

The original Devil May Cry was released in 2001 and established the franchise's blend of action and gothic horror. It follows Dante, a demon hunter seeking revenge for his mother's death, as he explores a castle ruled by the demon Mundus. The game pioneered the "stylish action" subgenre with its combo-based combat system and ranking mechanics.

    Simply the best.

  5. DmC: Devil May Cry

DmC: Devil May Cry, released in 2013, is a reboot developed by Ninja Theory and published by Capcom. It reimagines Dante's origin story in a parallel universe where he battles demons controlling humanity through media and politics. The game utilized a dynamic combat system mixing melee and ranged attacks with an emphasis on fluidity and style.

It's the same Dante, but this is him from a parallel, different dimension.

Don't judge a game by its cover.

  6. Devil May Cry 2

Devil May Cry 2 was released in 2003 as the sequel to the original game. It follows Dante and a new playable character named Lucia as they attempt to stop a businessman seeking demonic power. The game featured larger environments and a more simplified combat system compared to its predecessor.
