Coolest Video Game Characters

The Top Ten
Link (Legend of Zelda) Link refers to several different incarnations of the same protagonist of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series.

Link does not talk or have a set personality. It's a shame because I always saw Link as a character of his own. Oh, and by the way, Link is not mute. He can talk no matter what anyone says.

I really wish they would include voice acting in these games. It would make them even cooler than they already are.

And now a little something about Link. I like Link because:

1. He is the main character.
2. I like his hat.
3. I love his designs.
4. The way I perceive his personality is something I love.
5. He cares about others.
6. I like his sword.
7. I love his determination.
8. He can be serious and goofy.
9. He carries the burden of saving the world on his shoulders.
10. He's smart.

Overall, he is just a really good character. Some people can't see this because he is only half a real character. Some view him as an avatar, while others see him as a character, so over time, he became both. I hope that someday Link will have a personality of his own.

Dante (Devil May Cry) Dante is a fictional character and the primary protagonist of the Devil May Cry series, created and published by Capcom.

I would vote for Snake, but Dante is way too low on this list. Just look at him, and you know he's badass. He's a devil hunter with a sword, guns, a red trench coat, and white hair, and he's a demon! He taunts enemies quadruple his size, then proceeds to whip their ass. Every line he says in 1, 3, and 4 is cool. His overall style, mannerisms, and demeanor are cool. He's just a cool guy!

My childhood. He may be cheesy, but he's the coolest out there. Being in the top two and above would be an insult. He does almost everything stylishly. His cockiness, taunting even the biggest demon and kicking its ass with those stylish combos, makes him badass.

Master Chief (Halo Series) Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, more commonly known as the Master Chief, is a SPARTAN-II commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. He is the protagonist and main character in both the Halo trilogy and Reclaimer Saga.

People say Kirby is the most powerful video game character, but he is not! Kirby fell from space, but so has Master Chief - twice! Kirby defeated armies of marshmallows, while Master Chief defeated the biggest alien army known to gaming, a race of space parasites that threaten life itself, and an army of soldiers made of light, led by one of the beings the alien army worships!

One of the most iconic figures in gaming history, indisputably. Wears titanium alloy power armor, has access to a variety of weapons and vehicles, and against all odds, took down a multi-species alien empire by inciting a rebellion. He blew up not one but two giant superweapons and one giant alien space city, amassing an impressive kill count (especially if you count High Charity and the two Halo rings). He could probably destroy every other character on this list without a problem. He is by far the coolest character ever!

Zero (Mega Man X)
Ryu (Street Fighter) Ryu is a video game player character created by Capcom, the protagonist of the Street Fighter series.
Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) Solid Snake is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists of the video game series Metal Gear by Hideo Kojima. He is a legendary soldier cloned from Big Boss's DNA, who is sent to infiltrate and investigate the titular weapons in an effort to stop a potential war.

Let's face it. We all want a voice as cool as Snake's, a cool name like Snake, and to look like Snake.

Coolest character in gaming history.

Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil) Leon Scott Kennedy is a fictional character in the Resident Evil horror media franchise by Capcom. He debuted as one of the two playable protagonists of the video game Resident Evil 2.

Leon deserves to be at least in the top 5 because he is, in my opinion, the coolest and most handsome character ever made in gaming history.

He is the best, coolest, and most good-looking gaming character. His hairstyle is just killer. He obviously deserves the #1 place. Leon Scott Kennedy just rocks.

Johnny Gat (Saints Row)

Badass. He is referred to as "the most dangerous man alive" in one of the Saints Row games. Gat went to hell, learned to fly, killed Satan, and was respected by God so much that God granted him one wish. Hands down, one of the most badass characters I have ever seen.

Ezio Auditore (Assassin's Creed)

He deserves #1. All his Italian accent, the cape, the hood, the heroic mix of personality as playboy, assassin, warrior, brawler, and leader. He is the coolest.

Simply the coolest video game character of all time. Requiescat in pace.

Scorpion (Mortal Kombat) Scorpion is a recurring player character and occasional boss character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. His debut is in the first Mortal Kombat game.

My favorite characters are Trevor Phillips, Altair, Kratos, John Marston, Master Chief, Nathan Drake, Joel, Solid Snake, and Vaas, but Scorpion takes it all. He's such a boss.

The Newcomers

? Toadette (Super Mario) Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube video game Mario Kart: Double Dash.
? X (Megaman X Series)
The Contenders
Lin (Saints Row)
Kos-Mos (XenoSaga) KOS-MOS is a fictional character from the Xenosaga role-playing video game series by Monolith Soft and Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Big Daddy (Bioshock)
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) Lara Croft is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Square Enix video game franchise Tomb Raider.

Lara Croft is the most badass and coolest female video game character of all time. She deserves to be at least in the top 10 on this list.

Samus (Metroid) Samus Aran is the protagonist of the science fiction action-adventure game series Metroid by Nintendo. A galactic bounty hunter, Samus is usually equipped with her Power Suit, giving her access to weapons she uses to battle her enemies.
Albert Wesker (Resident Evil Series)

Seven minutes. Seven minutes is all the time I have to play with you.

Ken (Street Fighter)
Max Payne (Max Payne Series)

Max Payne kills bastards in slow motion or "bullet time," and he can also kill an entire army of bastards by himself.

Most notorious video game anti-hero.

Max Payne's bullet time is cool.

Tanya Winters (Saints Row)
Mario (Mario Brothers) Mario, originally named Jumpman, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, created by the creative director and video game designer at Nintendo of Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto.
