Top 10 Best Things that Happened in 2020

2020 was an extraordinarily difficult year, dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic, widespread economic disruption, natural disasters, and social unrest. But that doesn't mean everything that happened was bad.

There were genuine bright spots amid the chaos. Scientific breakthroughs accelerated, communities found new ways to support one another, and people around the world still managed to create moments of progress, generosity, and hope.

So, while nobody is likely to nominate 2020 for Best Year Ever, it still gave us a few things worth celebrating.

    True. Due to more people staying at home because of COVID-19, air pollution has greatly decreased.

  2. 2nd person in the world was cured of HIV

    Yes! We are making progress! Let's hope this happens again!

  3. Australian bush fires stopped

  4. Last Ebola patient was discharged in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

    That's definitely a great thing. Even if it was a long time since Ebola was really huge, as long as the disease exists, there is always a risk of it becoming a bigger problem again.

  5. Some endangered species became more common

  6. New technology became available to help paralysed patients

  7. Disneyland donated its excess food to a food bank

  8. Confederate statues were destroyed

    Confederate statues represented racism. Therefore, it was a good thing when Confederate statues were destroyed.

  9. Captain Tom Moore raised millions for the NHS

    He will be 100 years old tomorrow (30.4.2020). What a hero. And everyone in the whole UK salutes him.

  10. Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election

    Yes, let's make this #1. That is definitely the best thing that happened in 2020 because Trump lost.

    I'm so happy that Trump lost because that means no more downplaying the virus, no more immigrant children in cages, no more bromance with the North Korean leader, and especially no more President Trump.

    He was not a great president. He was a bully and a liar. I'm glad Biden won. Best thing in 2020.

  13. Kansas City Chiefs won 2020 Super Bowl LIV

    Heck yeah, this was my favorite thing about 2020. One of the 12 days I actually enjoyed in the first half. Finally breaking the curse of a 50-year drought felt so good.

    I'd say the only really good moment thus far of 2020 is seeing the Chiefs do the unthinkable and, thankfully, the Super Bowl played on time.

    50 years in the making! That was one of the best nights of my life!

    That was nice when they returned. At least they still had the Stanley Cup, World Series, and NBA Finals.

    It's awesome when the extra day that only comes once every 4 years is on a Saturday.
