Top 10 Worst Things That Happened in 2020
The 2020s started off pretty rough, you could even say horribly. Here are the worst things that have happened.
One should always "prepare for the worst and hope for the best". This president didn't do that and now all of America is paying the price. People actually believe there will be football this fall. It will not happen without the fallout of several more people contracting the disease and spreading it to others. I have been a sports fan for almost fifty years. Sports are not "essential". Sports are more of a "want" than a "need". The ACC, Big 12, and SEC are fooling themselves. Kids not going back to school? Not being able to see loved ones? The economy in the tank? Not being able to return back to your job(s)? All of these are direct results of a lack of national strategic planning by Trump and his administration. He is a joke. I will always be proud to be an American, but it is embarrassing to have an idiot in the White House at this time. The mishandling of this virus will and should cost him the election in November. People are tired of all the lies, finger-pointing, and complete lack of responsibility . Over 167,000 deaths in this country and 75-80% of them could have been avoided if we had a president that truly cared. Now, he wants to suppress voting. He needs to quit acting like a 12 year-old that doesn't get his way and be a man for a change. He is an atrocious "leader" and a despicable person. America, if you want class, decency, and character in the White House again, vote for Joe Biden in November.

Australia's been through perhaps the worst fires in its modern history with these. Bushfires are raging across the country & countless times & buildings have been destroyed & many trees too. Many people are dead & many unaccounted for. Yet 1.25 BILLION animals were killed. Over 26 MILLION acres have been burned so far & there's no end in sight to this at our latest point. We've had fires over the years including California in 2018, the Amazon Rainforest & Siberia in 2019, but we've NEVER seen anything like this! 2009 was once serious for fires in Australia but again not like this. This disaster's gotten even me worrying all the way. Yet so many iconic legends live there & no one could imagine them being caught in these fires. We realize this was caused by climate change, yet there was a huge heatwave that made Australia hit record-setting upper temperatures, contributing to the fires. This is so far the worst thing that's ever happened this year & Australia has been burning for almost 2 months & it's only getting worse.

It's near total anarchy in the USA during the riots, not just in Minneapolis but everywhere else. Trump's poor riot control measures don't win him any favor and now all other dictatorships are mocking how badly the USA's reputation as a responsible world leader has regressed. Unfortunately they are right the Americans need a serious reform (by serious, I mean a complete overhaul) in police, human rights, and government administration but I don't think it will happen sometime in the future considering how hot America's political climate is right now
"People have died in these riots"
"All lives matter"
Yeah people have died, but many more would if people had not pushed hard, no reform. George Floyd becomes another forgotten name, like Breonna Taylor. More people die from police brutality than will in these riots. With covid, Floyd could have been erased from memory, after some light protests. People need reform, need cops afraid to kneel on a mans neck, shoot unarmed black men. Make the media afraid of demonizing that man, like in the UK with Mark Duggan, due to intolerance normalized by Farage. All lives matter is not understanding the full picture, to write off this all together. Systematic racism against black men needs to end. Say their names. Do not stop until even further action is taken.

Most shocking accidental celebrity death in history. More than any other by accident. It hit us like 9/11 and the Titanic disaster did. Also since his daughter died as well. I can't even imagine the eternally immeasurable infinite pain Vanessa must be in (even to this day). Definitely one of the worst days in 2020 and history.
This just happened out of nowhere. I was just calmly minding my own business, and then my dad just comes out and says, Kobe Bryant died helicopter crash. He was one of the greatest NBA players of all time, and he still had lots of time in his life. R.I.P Kobe Bryant and everyone else who left us in the helicopter crash
Now here's a big name celebrity that unexpectedly passed away horrifically from a helicopter crash. He was well known for his 20 year career in the Lakers before his retirement.

So true Yankees2003 people are treating his death like its 9/11 2 and also pretty overrated peoples tiny brains think that he's the worlds God but he's not its just a .person and the most dumbest thing a week of 2 later Lego had to pull every Lego set because of the death then they had to pull paw patrol off air and they banned police cars out of fortnite! THAT WAS 1 OR 2 WEEKS AFTER !Seriously does everyone littarly think that he's the God of the blacks (Not trying to be racist) and people are harassing the government and trying to break in to the white house because of a single death this has gotta be the most overrated event of the 21st century .
RIP George Floyd. Being black myself makes me sad because I've seen too many stuff like this happen. I know what the cop did is horrid and he deserves to be punished. But at the same time, we should also cut down on assumptions and act calmly. Rioting won't help and it will only make things worse.

I kinda agree, not every single person is dying from the virus and plenty of people have been recovered from it, but does this need it's own item on here?
Also, take a look at the numbers of infections, recoveries and deaths. There is a big difference between the total cases and deaths. It means not everyone is probably gonna die by the virus. I'm not saying people shouldn't worry, but not everyone who is affected is considered to die. I believe mostly older people and people who are more sensitive than other people for viruses have a higher chance to die by it. People should be aware of the virus, but I think total panic isn't necessary.
This should definitely be number 1. We have seen so many draconian laws being put in place. The government has been telling us what we can and can't do. I am sick of having to wear a mask when I go outside my home. I am sick of turning on the TV and seeing Boris Johnson giving daily briefings and the usual crap, "You must stay at home, because that is the only way that we are going to... blah blah blah". This virus is actually not as deadly as what the media are making it out to be. People have lost their jobs. People's lives have been destroyed through lockdowns. Now we are going to have no economy left. I think this coronavirus has been about controlling the people all along. If the government cared about people's health and mental wellbeing, they wouldn't be imposing such draconian laws and restrictions. I did vote Conservative last year, but Boris Johnson has been as useful as a glass hammer.

YouTube was violated $170M by the FTC about its age target, so changes were made, therefore content made for kids mean common features (like comments & sharing) disabled & while the features were used in the videos not made for kids. It was once stated those violating the law would receive a $42,530 fine per video & that no new channels/content would be allowed. YouTube used to be a great place before COPPA turned it into cable television.
I remember hearing about the stupid COPPA update in November 2019, and I remember it officially going into effect on January 6th, 2020. 13 year old me was worried about what would happen to my favorite YouTubers as well as pissed off because the law would affect us 13+ users as well (and not just the 12 and under folks). And seriously, why the hell is the miniplayer of all things disabled?
I can't save my favorite animated videos to playlists anymore, can't comment on them. YouTube is basically delegating fault to the creators who are simply doing their business on it when they are the ones who are violating child privacy guidelines in the first place. I meant there's YouTube Kids, right?

Not a crash. The passenger jet was shot down by an Iranian missile.

And that resulted in yet more protests. Yup 2020 officially killed the world.
Somebody who will remain nameless cheezed this election! Hint: It rhymes with Boe Jiden.

This needs to be at least in Top 3. More than 100s died and thousands are injured. The whole explosion turned Beirut into a rubble making it look like a warzone. And I swear if I saw people voting for stuff related to Trump, Youtube or anything else rather than tragedies like these, I'll lose it. In conclusion, 2020 is the worst year of the 21st century.
Yeah, I'd put this in the top 10. At first, none of the people in Beirut reacted quite strongly until a few days later. So once again, people are losing their minds in the pandemic worldwide as well.
The explosion looked like a nuke and rocked Beirut like an earthquake. My condolences go to everyone in Beirut and Lebanon during these hard times.

This needs to be higher.
This should be higher.

A soldier killed 29 & injured 58 with a shooting at a mall in Thailand. Now the deadliest gun shooting in 2020 & the deadliest single man made incident this year after the Ukrainian plane attack in Iran that killed 176.
It is not fair. I wish people could just stop doing thing like this and before they do, think what would you do. You wouldn't like to be killed, so don't do it.
How sick do you have to be to beat an infant to death? Especially when they do it for no reason at all. This is why I hate senseless violence, it just disgusts me. What's becoming of this world?
Don't worry. The criminal will soon (or is already) be suffering in jail, with the security and other prisoners doing the same thing that he did to the baby, just to see how he likes it!
A 9 month old infant was beaten up to death by a man in Chicago. His name was revealed to be Josue Juarez. A truly horrible day for her mother & horrible way to start 2020 for her. R.I.P.
Torrential rainfall hit Jakarta causing flooding that damaged buildings & caused landslides, along with killing 53 people, which was MORE than the number of people killed in the Albania earthquake in 2019.
We have the fire and now flooding and people don't know what to do
1 dead at a shooting in Southwest Houston in Texas. A horrible day for Texas.
Here's a thing everyone:
The majority of Republicans would vote to remove Trump from office, according to a private meeting said by Joe Walsh (A Republican), but they didn't because they fear for Trump supporters, and they will vote to remove him if the polls are rising. The Right-Wing media lies about the impeachment because they also fear for Trump supporters, which they can attack anyone who says anything wrong with him, and likely classify them as snowflakes and Liberals, like they're big losers.
Trump's Ukraine phone call is Treason because he's teaming with an enemy to investigate Joe Biden just to gain his re-election chances of attacking him and other Democratic institutes. Trump only wants to be president for power, and he treats Putin far better than everyone else. He's not that smart of a person, and his scholars and a former professor said that he wasn't that bright.
The 1st shooting of 2020. 2 were killed in a club in Orange County, Florida. A horrible man-made incident in 2020 so far & this list should keep changing.

And again! Trump does his usual antics. By killing such an important person in Iran, he's only gonna get more enemies than friends. Even some of his allies condemn his actions. If he doesn't back down, World War 3 could start at any time!
Nearly started World War III with Iran. Even bad guys have family and killing a high-ranking officer in an unprovoked airstrike is guaranteed to earn lots of enemies. Even Israel (who had little to do with the incident) is being blamed for his assassination.
Almost caused WW3. It's scary how it would have almost caused it, it trended on Twitter when it happened. All the anti-American and anti-Trump sentiment was honestly crazy.
I'm pretty sure this trend was supposed to be a joke, since boomers like to make jokes about Gen-Z, who are known for making memes, so we decided to just make a meme out of it and I guess that's how the whole trend started, not because of disrespect. I have respect for boomers though.
I don't really like the slang "ok boomer" I get annoyed when people keep saying and spamming that phrase. BUT I love to use this insult to describe "degenerates" who are involved with gender inequality, male (pro)nouns, and the outdated school system just to name a few
This saying has gotten extremely annoying faster than that whole "Cringe/This is cringe" thing that happened on the Internet.

A shooting took place at a Subway restaurant in Indiana, leaving a man in critical condition. 2020's off to a bad start.

RIP to those that died

Secoriea Turner was shot in the area of University Ave while riding in a vehicle with her mother and an adult friend. The driver was attempting to enter a parking lot at 1238 Pryor Road where a group of BLM Rioters illegally placed barricades. Someone in the group opened fire on the vehicle, killing the 8 year old.
Why are you shooting so many kids this year? Also, why did the protesters even shoot her? They're protesting for black lives but they shot a black kid. Ironic, but not in a good way.
They killed a black kid in a black lives matter protest, what?

Here's a big one for not only fans of the band Rush, but drummers in general as he was a very inspirational man for drummers everywhere. He died at 67 from brain cancer on Jan 7.
