Up 3-2 in the series, the Kings were on the verge of knocking out the 2x defending champion Lakers. But questionable calls late in the game led to the Lakers winning the game and forcing a game seven, which they would win in overtime. Again, because of a ratings issue and because the Lakers were on the cusp of being a three-time champion, the league tried to get the Lakers into the finals. Tim Donaghy, who didn't even work the game admitted that this was rigged.

4 The NBA rigged the 1985 Draft Lottery for the Knicks to get Patrick Ewing Patrick Aloysius Ewing (born August 5, 1962) is a Jamaican-American retired Hall of Fame basketball player and current head coach of the Georgetown University men's basketball team.

In 1985, the Knicks won the first pick of the NBA draft and selected Patrick Ewing. But some people believe the lottery was rigged because David Stern had actually known which envelope the team. On T.V., the man placing the envelopes in the bin threw the Knick's envelope onto the side in hopes to bend it. Other theories include the envelope being frozen. The reason for this was so the NBA would continue to expand in ratings and have a big name college player play in a big name market.
