Top 10 Worst Movie Sequels to Good Movies

Usually in a franchise, there are pretty bad sequels to a good movie. And there’s quite a lot of them. So let’s take a look.
The items in this list have been selected by the author of the list for you to vote and comment on.
The Top Ten
1 Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2

This is the worst sequel ever made! This does not make a good revival for the first film! The film is a rehash on the first, except it’s slight changed! The setting is changed, the villian is similar to Veck Simms, and the jokes are repeated! The story is terrible, and it almost makes me feel bad for Blart and the other characters despite not being real people! The film seems to be depressing when it’s trying to funny, and cringeworthy, because I can tell you right now, it’s not funny! It’s cringeworthy! The jokes are atrocious! Which is sad because the first one was so funny! Like I said, some of the jokes are repeated from the first! The film is also predictable! I already knew what would happen from beginning to end! It tries to be emotional when Blart’s daughter argue with him, and I didn't felt their relationship! I felt their relationship in the first film! Kevin James may be a good actor, but he shouldn't have returned to Happy Madison Productions to film this piece ...more

2 Batman and Robin

This is not only the worst Batman film, it’s the worst Superhero movie ever made! Many people think Max Steel is worse, but this is MUCH worse! This is a horrendous film! The plot is atrocious, the acting is atrocious, the script is atrocious, the dialogue is atrocious, everything is atrocious! George Clooney is terrible as Batman! He never really was Batman in the eyes of true fans. I like George Clooney, but this is probably his worst performance yet! Alicia Silverstone was miscast as Batgirl, and Arnold Schwarzenegger was severely miscast as Mr. Freeze! The first two films had a pretty dark and serious tone while this one has a lighthearted tone! It’s way too colorful and campy! It would be excusable if this was made in the 60’s, but not in the 90’s! The battle scenes are laughable as they try to work, but they don't! The villian, Mr. Freeze, was so annoying! All he mostly did was spat out cheesy one liners and puns. The whole entire film looks and feels like a 2 hour toy ...more

3 Fifty Shades Freed

Watching this film was the biggest regret of my life! I guess I watched this because it was the last one. The writing is so poor, the characters are still shallow as they were before, and the sex scenes are pointless! Since it’s a Fifty Shades film, you know that they will have sex scenes! The tagline of this film sounds kind of disgusting and pretty inappropriate. That car chase is the worst scene in the film in my opinion! Anastasia is smiling when that scene is happening! She is brainless! Why is she smiling?! She is in danger when this guy is stalking her! This is the worst trilogy ever made! At least we don't be getting any more of these films!

Um, when was the first film any good? That one was also stupid

4 Transformers: The Last Knight

This is the worst Transformers film ever made! I knew that this would be terrible since every Transformers film is the same exact thing that we’ve seen in the first four films! This was exactly what I thought it was going to be. No suprises whatsoever. The film is a huge pile of robot crap! The film has no plot, at least no plot that is interested or keeps you invested! The plot is only there to serve the action, just like any other Transformers film, but it’s so blatant in this one! The humor is atrocious as the jokes didn't made me laugh, chuckle or smile! Another thing is that the film keeps changing the aspect ratio every next scene! It gets distracting! What’s so useful about this? Also, we hear Bumblebee’s voice in this one, but we already heard his voice in the first film! It’s like Michael Bay wasn't even trying anymore, and this shows. At least this was Michael Bay’s last one, though! This was one of the worst movies of 2017 and the worst film in the franchise! ...more

I haven't seen this one, but Age of Extinction was the worst of the original four. Especially considering that Dark of the Moon was actually pretty decent compared to the rest

5 Ice Age: Collision Course

I never thought that I would react negatively to an Ice Age movie, but this pushed my big button big time! This franchise has gone downhill after the third film. The first three were the only solid films in the franchise. The Meltdown and Dawn of the Dinosaurs are the only good sequels. The rest can go screw itself. Especially this one! This is easily the worst Ice Age film! Collision Course has a completely stupid, nonsensical, and incoherent plot, the humor is terrible, has pointless subplots, atrocious writing, and characters both old and new, are forgettable, boring, uninteresting, and just obnoxious! The pacing is so bad because it feels so rushed at certain scenes and sometimes too slow. Why did we need another Ice Age film? I thought the fourth would’ve ended things fine. Sure, the animation is amazing just like the other films, but that isn't enough to save this film. This film shows that the franchise needs to end! This sequel only exists for money and this film is useless ...more

I think it's the worst of the sequels but it's alright

Ice Age 1 and 2 were good, but the rest sucked

6 Shrek the Third

This is probably the best example of a third installment that suck. The plot is uninteresting as it comes off as weak. Shrek becoming a father is a big and annoying cliché. This film also have a surprisingly large kill count in a KIDS film! There’s a scene where Shrek accidentally sinks a ship, killing a bunch of people, King Harold’s on screen death, and Prince Charming’s demise at the end. The jokes in this film are childish as they lack the charm of the first two. Especially the infamous “somebody better be dying” before it cuts to King Harold dying. It doesn't even capture any emotion of the other films, except one scene where Shrek and Arthur talk about their dads. That scene was very good. Is there anything good about the film? Yes. The animation is a great step up from the first two, the voice acting is amazing, and Artie’s speech at the end was a very nice message. Overall, this one really disappointing and definitely the worst Shrek film.

Well I already stated on your Dreamworks list about my opinion on this movie so I won't say it agian

7 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

After three amazing movies, what happened here? The story is thin and overused. The idea of aliens being behind ancient civilizations has already been heard several times. It lacks the heart and soul of the other movies. The CGI is uninspired as the action sequences fail to deliver any excitement. The feelings between the characters seems very forced. The acting is not that good, sadly. Which is a shame because the acting in the first three was fantastic! The film has a lot of ridiculous scenes and nonsensical stuff. Like in the beginning of the film where Indy fails to whip jump, Marion’s talking about family affairs while being imprisoned by the Soviets, and of course, the infamous “Nuke the Fridge” scene where Indy survives a nuclear explosion by hiding in a refrigerator. How do you even survive in a refrigerator? It’s too big! Irina Spalko is a forgettable and bizarre who lacks the usual coldly menacing charisma of the villians from the previous films. Overall, this is the ...more

While Raider's of the Lost Ark is the best, this is the best of the sequels tied with Temple of Doom in my opinion

I think this one gets too much hate. But I’m not gonna defend this movie too much because it didn’t really come up with a new plot and it rehashes some stuff from its predecessors.

8 Spider-Man 3

This is the third film in the Sam Raimi trilogy and it sucked! I love the first two Spider-Man films, but this one was awful! This pretty much ruins everything about what we loved about the first two! My main problem with this film is that there are too many villians that you don't even know who is the main villian of the film. Tobey Maguire’s portrayal as Spider-Man is pretty lacking. The acting is poor, with the exception of Thomas Haden Church, J.K. Simmons, and James Franco. Some certain scenes can drag on to the point where it can become slow. Venom gets a small amount of screen time. Even when he does appear, his face is peeled black most of the time. He also looks like Carnage, and was not big and bulky as he was in his comic counterparts. And of course, we have to have the scene where Peter Parker becomes emo, which is the worst thing about the film! And there’s the infamous scene where Peter dances is extremely cringeworthy and doesn't fit into the film at all. Overall, ...more

Unpopular opinion alert (agian): The whole trilogy is awesome and among the best movies of all time and this was slightly better than the other two (I actually think the second one was the least good although almost equally as good as this one)

9 Saw 3D: The Final Chapter

This movie is absolutely terrible in every single way possible! After a great sixth movie, why did they ruined the franchise again? They did it with the fourth and fifth, and they did it again here! The franchise has definitely hit rock bottom with this one. This is probably the worst way to end a great horror franchise. The film feels like two films in one and was a complete mess. The acting was horrendous, the traps lacked creativity, the death scenes are irrelevant, and the characters are unlikable! The 3D was also awful. This is probably the worst 3D I’ve ever seen! It’s even worse than the 3D in The Last Airbender! The blood is also pink! Why is it pink? Bobby is an unlikable protagonist who lies about being in a Jigsaw trap. During one of the traps, he tells the woman in the trap to shut the hell up and let him get her out! Why would you tell her to shut up when she’s dying in a trap? Dr. Gordon’s return was pointless as he doesn't even appear in the film that much. Same ...more

The first 6 Saw films were good, and this wasn't

10 Jaws: The Revenge

You’re probably mad that I put this low on the lis, but there are worse sequels out there. This killed the Jaws franchise! The storyline is bizarre! The film feels like a melodramatic soap opera and less like a summer blockbuster whenever Ellen interacts with Hoagie! The shark looks so fake, as well as the blood. In the original film, the shark looked incredibly realistic due to the way Steven Spielberg skillfully filmed and edited it! Not to mention, that the effects on the sharks are awful. Aside from the obvious animatronics, there’s a scene near the end where the shark gets impaled and explodes. A freeze frame reveals that the crew just used a toy shark and a toy boat! The practical effects of the shark are much worse than the effects used in Jaws 3D! The writing is terrible, the acting is awful, and the pacing is sluggish! The film also has a really small body count with only TWO kills! This also wastes the talents of Lorraine Gary and Michael Caine! Why the hell is Michael ...more
