They have real emotion behind their actions toward each other. Despite everything they've gone through, they still deeply care about one another, which only shows how strong their bond truly is.
Even though they have their squabbles, they bring out the best in each other. Anyway, Alfred x Arthur is first and best. I will love them always!
There's something about the childish way America carries himself and the underlying caring nature England has that makes this couple work well together. Not to mention America's constant need to be the hero and England's reluctance to accept help play off of each other well.

I don't even know how to put these two into words.
I've seen so many pairings in anime where there'll be a character who's all tough and stoic, and the other one is weak and childlike, constantly needing their protection. After a while, I kind of got tired of seeing pairings like that. They had become uninteresting and overdone to me.
When I first started watching Hetalia, I thought GerIta would be another one of these pairings. Crikey, was I wrong.
Something about GerIta really struck a chord with me. I don't know what it is about these two, what makes them so special to me, but they are. They're just so beautiful and, to me, represent what it means to truly love someone else. I can't pinpoint what it is about them that makes this pairing so incredibly lovable, they just are. This is my OTP.

Spain x Romano
I believe that Spain makes Romano feel appreciated and loved. It's really sad that everyone loves Veneziano more than they love Romano. And I don't get it. We call him Italy, even if they're the same country. Spain does love Ita-chan, but it's kind of obvious that he loves him much more.
They might not have been the first yaoi couple I fell in love with, but they are certainly the most adorable. I think Spain is one of the few people who can break Roma's shell down and discover the sweet side of him.
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but this couple has something that makes it stand out from the rest of the Hetalia couples. I find the idea of Spain wrapping his arms around an angry Romano and saying "Loviii!" to be quite endearing.
Romano obviously cares about Spain, but his tsundere nature keeps him from expressing his love clearly. Romano is a young nation who doesn't seem to know how to have fun, while Spain used to be his guardian.
What more can I say? They really put the fun in dysfunctional and the passion into their activities. This makes all the yaoi fans scream.

Sweden x Finland
How can you not ship and love these two?! Sweden may look scary, but is really like a teddy bear! Finny is adorable and sweet! Plus, it's always adorable when the misunderstood stoic guy finds their special person!
They've been together through everything. Sweden is the loving husband and papa. Finland is the loving wife and mama. With Sealand and Ladonia as the kids and Hanatamago as their puppy, they are the perfect family!
How the most canonically one-sided pairing in the series is not in the top three is beyond me. I mean, come on. The creator himself even said Sweden was gay for only Finland. Not to mention, their interactions with each other are downright adorable. Besides Gerita, the other pairings are only fanon-based.

France and England are one of the few Hetalia pairings who share a lot of history together. Nearly 1,000 years, in fact. Therefore, they would definitely have the strongest connection out of any other ship involving France or England.
They have grown up together, been through all the good and bad together, teamed up in every major war, and have raised America and Canada together like a little family. They may argue, but after so many years, they know each other best in how to please and displease one another. But teasing is more fun when it comes down to it.
After all, they haven't been war enemies for over 200 years, so nothing's wrong with some friendly competition for old times' sake, right?

This couple is adorable, not because they are chibi, but mainly because throughout the show, we get to see Holy Rome think about this relationship. The best part is probably when he figures out that Italy is male, but Holy Rome remains clueless. Gotta admit, that's cute.

Denmark x Norway
I like how their relationship is one of those tough love relationships. I love when Denmark annoys Norway to the point where Norway attacks him. It's also cute how Denmark thinks of them as best friends. Additionally, I think it's cute how Norway loves Denmark but hides it, showing Denmark tough love instead.
I have never been the same. I found this pairing when I was scrolling through SuFin long ago (When I had just gotten into the fandom), and I thought nothing of it. Then I met the Nordic five, and my world has completely changed. OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS.
This ship makes perfect sense, is funny as heck, and is the most adorable thing ever. This is canon in my book, and will forever be my OTP. Denmark's total obliviousness, and Norge's pure tsundere-ness and denial add to the charm.
Plus, they are both the most adorable things ever. It also helps that they have a rich past, and quite a few canon moments considering their time on the screen. I just wish that more people saw this ship because it is just too beautiful. I am honestly lost for words. I just love, that is all, love.

Poland x Lithuania
The fact that they share such a long history together, through several centuries, makes the ship even better. They have been best friends for who knows how long and have been through hell together. They know each other more than anyone else, and I think that even though Poland can be quite teasing around his Liet, it's because he really does trust his best friend, and it's his special way of saying 'I deeply care about you'.
It even shows in one of the comic diaries that he would try to be less selfish for Liet's sake. And don't you remember how Lithuania went behind Russia's back and even set soldiers near Poland's house when he discovered Russia's plan? I think that no matter what they've been through, whether it's the Polish-Lithuanian war or Poland being dead (off the map completely), they still end up together and are each other's support. Plus, they're adorable together.

It's so cute! I just love this pairing because France is so lovey-dovey, and he could pull off the cheesiest lines ever. He's such a romantic, like a teenage girl around Canada! He wants nothing but the best for Canada and is such a perfectionist. And Canada is just so adorable and modest because he's just fine with whatever France does. He may not want a luxurious suite from a five-star restaurant, but he's happy and laughs if things don't go as perfect as France planned. It's just a really fluffy couple.
Come on! This couple needs more love. They have a very good story. France raised Canada, and he always cared about him, even when he wasn't his colony anymore.
France needs someone adorable who will always be there for him and doesn't care about what others might say, and Canada is perfect. They're just adorable together.

I have seen many a fic where their animals chill together. Also, while Canada has low self-esteem, Prussia is the total opposite. As mentioned, Prussia never mistakes America for Canada, and they share a mutual love for maple syrup.
I thought this pairing would at least score a 5. They are both forgotten nations with rare appearances. We never know... For as much as we do know, all that time we don't see them in the comic, they could be a married couple. Sigh. I wish it was real.
Sure, they've met only once, but their mutual love of pancakes and maple syrup must mean something. Also, it's said that Prussia has always remembered Canada and has never mistaken him for America. They are also both loners, so they should be alone. Don't even try to argue with me on this pairing. Together, they are awesome tenfold.

This is my go-to favorite Hetalia couple. I just love the way their personalities fit. They're opposites but the same at the same time. They're both ambitious, smart, strong, competitive, and childish in their own way.
While America is loud, optimistic, and energetic, Russia is more reserved and kind of shady. In some fanfics I've read, I like the yin-yang, sun-and-moon depiction of their relationship. America's sunny personality helps Russia shine in the darkness, so he doesn't feel so alone. And America is one of the very few nations that is not afraid of Russia.
I also like to think that the reason why Russia picks on America is that he has a crush on him but doesn't know how to express it, so he does a "little boy picks on a girl he likes" thing to get America's attention. Meanwhile, America is dense and doesn't get it, so he thinks Russia is a jerk. When he does figure it out, it gets sweet and fluffy from there. Plus, America is, I think, the only nation strong enough to top Russia and vice versa.

Turkey x France
In my opinion, this is an adorable ship. Fanart (if you can find some good pieces) is quite delightful!
Now to the logical part. Two countries with loads in common history- and culture-wise, such as gourmet food, sweets, and both being empires, go great together! They also have much in common in personality and appearance. Both men are shown to be older than the main cast, and they both have (should they even be called) beards.
Personality-wise, they both stay in style and live very vigorous lives. Though it is said that France may be afraid of Turkey, it is still fun to explore ships regardless of canon relationships! Heck, we all have our headcanons.

Russia x China
They are just so adorable! Their personalities complement each other very well. Russia is generally lonely and desperate for affection, while China loves to give affection. Although it may seem like China is scared of Russia, it isn't actually the case. He instead treats his childish and strange actions as a mild annoyance.
Likewise, Russia is never shown being directly cruel or aggressive to China, instead treating him in a warm and friendly manner. Also, due to China's motherly nature and experience with children, he would be able to handle Russia's childish nature and help him stay somewhat mentally stable. So yeah, I really like this pairing as it shows the best of both their personalities and isn't abusive/toxic.

Prussia x Austria
This ship is the best. I don't always ship pairings consisting of characters who argue so much, but this one is different. They just seem to fit right, and it's hard to pair them with anyone else, like Hungary. I seriously hate AusHun. I think another reason why I personally like this ship so much is because the way they fight reminds me of the way Applejack and Rainbow Dash in My Little Pony fight. They are my OTP in that fandom. In both pairings, they argue a lot, but there are lots of underlying feelings that you have to work to get to. It's too hard not to love this ship.
This pairing deserves more attention, in my opinion. They match each other well in personality, and you can see how often they are around each other, talking about each other, teasing and fighting with each other.
Honestly, they care, but it's not like other ships because of who they are. It's the AWESOME* Prussia and the unique personality of Mr. Austria. I feel they balance and push each other in a certain way.

China x Japan
Even though they had a lot of conflicts during times, especially during World War 2, they were once loving brothers, though it might have been a little one-sided on China's part. This pairing has a lot of angst and rocky roads, but even though Japan betrayed him, China has forgiven him and still wishes that he would come back to him.
I imagine that sometime after the wars, Japan would come back to China to apologize for his atrocities. Even though most of their people and governments hate each other, I like to imagine that they will forgive one another and be together, even though they've been on opposite sides for more of history than not.
China was also the one who found and raised Japan, and he isn't able to completely hate his precious little brother. Many Japanese beginnings started from China, who taught him almost everything in the beginning. I always like to think they will end up together again.

They are one of those opposites attract pairings. America helps Japan come out of his shell every once in a while, and Japan calms America down with his quiet personality. Japan has even called America by his human name before, and they watch movies together.
America had no problem suggesting that he and Japan take a bath together when they were roommates. When America watched a scary movie with Japan and hugged him, Japan let him, but when Italy tried, Japan pushed him away. Not to mention the fact that America could have watched those movies with anyone else - why Japan?
There is no doubt that they have feelings for each other, even if they are small.

In Hetalia, I think it's already rather apparent that 'opposites attract' is mainly focused on the pairings. There's GerIta and USUK, yes, but my heart just feels so satisfied, at ease, and filled whenever Hetalia has episodes on these two.
They complement each other so, so well when it comes to similarity. Also, a bonus to Greece for canonically fighting for Japan's attention.
The pairing is super cute and practically canon. Not just because of the fact that Japan had dirty dreams about him and Greece. They also walk together under an umbrella, which is a romantic symbol in Japan. Cute.

Prussia x Hungary
The only hetero thing that I ship in the whole of Hetalia, they are made for each other! Although Hungary was with Austria, I tend to believe they were forced into the Austro-Hungarian Empire and that really they are just super good friends. They are just so cute together! Prussia trying to be all cool and Hungary just being feminist is amazing! You have to ship this. Anyone who doesn't is heterophobic! I feel like often in the Hetalia fandom, people are like, we can only ship either hetero or homo, guys, just ship both!
Seriously, this isn't here? They have so much history and chemistry.
The fact that Hungary was afraid to be a woman in a man's world was relatable, but Prussia motivated her to take it a step further and conquer that fear. Hungary and Prussia are adorable. How is this not at least in the top 15? Isn't this a really popular ship?

Turkey x Greece
Adorable. Probably up there as one of my all-time favorite ships. Even just looking at their history together provides the basis for an intriguing relationship.
Yes, they're at each other's throats half the time, but why? What led to that? Just general incompatibility? Or something more? I'm continually fascinated by Turkey and Greece's interactions: they clearly know a lot more about each other than most and seem to share some sort of past together that goes well beyond historical fact.
The animosity between them could easily conceal feelings neither are exactly willing to admit. I, for one, would love to see that play out. Matchmaker Japan, I am counting on you.

They are so cute! I really love childhood sweethearts like them. For the two nations, I love their history and culture, and also the Pyrenees mountain ranges.
For the two characters, in my opinion, every time they sit down on the same chair and start to have a talk, the atmosphere always seems so harmonious. Even though there are no vows or too many sweet words, they trust each other and that is enough. (Forgive me for the possible mistakes because English is not my mother tongue.)
One of my OTPs. I think they're extremely cute together, and in the manga, France kisses and gropes Spain, but Spain doesn't mind because he's so oblivious.
Plus, any pairing within the BTT is perfect, but out of all the variations, Frain is my favorite.

This is such a cute couple! I mean... Yes, I do ship UsUk, FrUk, and whatnot... But I can't just not ship this! Their brotherly relationship is so sweet! Even though America can be loud, energetic, and outgoing, while Canada is quiet, shy, and depressed (in my opinion), that's perfect! America would always be there to cheer him up by being loud, and Canada seems like the kind of guy that could get America happy again.
These two do not really count as brothers, so it's not incest. They were raised by separate step-fathers who fought over them. They do lie next to each other on a map, making them always close. This has been my OTP for ages, and I will always love it. This ship needs more love from those around it!
America can be loud and outgoing while Canada can be softer and quiet-like, making snuggle-time easy for Canada. It is also canon that while Canada gets beaten by Cuba for America, he wouldn't mind it if he had a proper warning or had been asked to. Much love, Amecan!

Austria loves Hungary so much. Simple as Austria is too shy to do something romantic. They really fall in love. And Nyo! AusHun is a wonderful couple, too.
Prussia may be alone, he may have disappeared, but he has a brother and many people, and I think no one can forget him. Austria? He used to be so happy. He may not disappear but lives a life even more difficult than dying. He used to have many people in his family, and then, he has...no one, not even his wife. HIS WIFE! What is most simple in life?
This needs more love. Like, seriously.
Sure, they were forced to marry, but they eventually grew to have real feelings for each other, and they sometimes show those feelings in the show today. They're a really cute couple, in my opinion. I'm not hating on PruAus or SwissAus or any other pairings here, but it makes more sense than some of the other pairings out there.

It's a shame France x Russia isn't higher on the list. They have enough history and interaction in real life for this pairing to make sense. I feel like they complement each other well.
This ship is so underrated, overshadowed by the more popular FrUk and RusAme. France and Russia are good together, with similarly contrasting personalities, yet so much alike at a deeper level.
It would be exciting seeing those two switch positions, from seme to uke over and over again. They would have cute yaoi children as well.

Hong Kong x Iceland
They are very cute and can get along very well. Their personalities and experiences are also very similar. They have not been involved in sad things. They can discuss their brothers together. They are also very simple, and they will be surprised by each other's customs. They are my favorite couple!
They may never meet in canon, but they are both in the same situation. Older brother being annoying (at least to them) and being that one in the group cast out from the rest. Not to mention, they are both serious loners.

This pairing, in my opinion, is adorable.
Yes, Switzerland technically adopted Liechtenstein as his younger sister, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have something more. Switz helped Liech when she needed it, and she is very fond of him. Switzerland also really cares about Liechtenstein, which is obvious.
But yeah, you never know. There could be something more than a brother/sister relationship here.
I just love the personalities of these two characters, how they both care so much for each other, despite Liechtenstein generally being shy and Switzerland generally being extremely passive-aggressive.

It's cute and stuff, and... Ughh. I don't know what I see in this pairing or how it got into my top OTP list, but it's sticking there. I can't believe I was obsessed with DenNor and ignored this pairing last year.
How is this less popular than DenNor? They're so cute together, plus they both have the same personality and. I don't know, they're just so cute!

Joan d'Arc x France
Maybe they are the only true couple in Hetalia. Their love is so moving. I didn't mean to say that the other ships are fake, but they have to put their people ahead of their love and combat their rivals from time to time. Francis and Lisa's love is true.
Why does no one like this?! I think this deserves more love, because France obviously gets a sad look on his face whenever he talks about her. And no one thinks that there's something there?!
It's just so cute! It's obvious, in my opinion at least, that France loves Jean, and I feel like he still hasn't gotten over her.
