Top 10 Best Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies Not Including the Avengers Movies

Can you believe it’s been 10 years? The Marvel Cinematic Universe has definitely come a long way. With the release of Infinity War, I say we discuss the best movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not including the the Avengers or its sequels.
The Top Ten
1 Captain America: Civil War

The Captain America trilogy managed to get better with each movie. The Thor trilogy did too but a movie in that trilogy being better than the previous one isn’t much of an accomplishment. Civil War is amazing. It has a lot of emotion, characters, and has an overall great story. It introduces us to Black Panther and Spider-Man. Two amazing characters. Both of them were the best parts of the film. The action scenes are amazing and choreographed to perfection. This movie also shows that there are actually consequences to their actions. At least these guys cause destruction while actually trying to save people. Meanwhile, a certain aquatic princess causes chaos for her own selfish reasons and gets away with it with no consequences. There isn’t a single problem I have with Civil War. It is amazing from beginning to end.

Honestly, saddest MCU movie for me. (Might be because the deaths in Endgame were spoiled for me) Also, now we got the the Spider-Ling, Crime Fighting Spider, Spider Boy?

Am I the only one who thinks this is overrated, it was decent, but NOT that good, it felt like they focused more on the Winter Soldier than on the civil war

A very good movie, tons of fun with good characters and message

2 Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Every Marvel fan likes Winter Soldier. The first Captain America movie was just okay, but Winter Soldier was amazing. It’s a lot darker than most MCU films. The action is extremely well done, the characters are very well developed, and it manages to stay consistent with its tone. I also really love the twist in which we find out that the Winter Soldier is Cap’s old friend, Bucky. I totally didn’t see that coming. Even if you saw it coming, the execution of the reveal is very awesome. I pretty much loved everything about this movie. They made Captain America an even more interesting character. Definitely a huge step up from the first movie.

Violent? Try action-packed! Bucky shows up as the winter soldier and suddenly its way more emotional than before Bucky was revealed to be the winter soldier. You can totally see the emotion, the fear, the horror in Bucky’s past, the heartbreak when Steve is forced to fight his closest friend. And the introduction of the Falcon makes the movie even better. No doubt this is one of the best Marvel movies there is.

An action masterpiece, in fact it might be the Raiders of the Lost Ark of the 2010s. Johansson & Evans have great chemistry.

This ia my favorite in the Captain America trilogy. Hell it even made it to the top 500 best movies of all time magazine

3 Black Panther

This I can agree, it did change the formula as it had a message behind it and fixing the wrongs of others. I also thought Erik Killmonger was a tragic and great villain and for a movie was part tragic, but most part awesome.

Not my favorite marvel character, but the movie was so good. It had a deep story, great villain, and shows the origin of vibranium, the stuff his suit, cap's shield, and ultron are all made of.

I was absolutely overwhelmed by this movie! I loved it quite a lot! It was better than I thought it would be! It’s not just my favorite movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s one of my favorite comic book movies of all time! Absolutely brilliant! It has nothing to do with the fact that I’m black, which I am, I thought it had a brilliant story, great characters, and great action. Every character in the movie has a purpose. None of them feel wasted. They all contribute in some way. While it’s not an origin story in the traditional way, T’Challa is still figuring out how to handle being the King of Wakanda. He’s not perfect and that makes him very relatable. Shuri is probably my favorite character in the film. She’s very smart and very funny. I also like that the humor is kept to a minimum. Which is exactly how it should be. There are actually some pretty intense moments. The only problems I have with the movie are some of the CG being bad and a reference to a certain ...more

4 Guardians of the Galaxy

This and Vol. 2 are definitely. This movie made more than Justice League.. but so did most of the other MCU movies. Love all of the characters but Gamora is the most powerful and best. However, Drax is the funniest. Rocket is the most unique and special. This movie and Vol. 2 especially are underrated. Gamora and Drax are extremely underrated (especially Gamora). Rocket may be the least powerful Guardian but he's extremely entertaining. Gamora has the best battle scenes, followed by Drax, then Groot, then Star-Lord, then Rocket.

This is one of the greatest movies ever made guardians of the galaxy has great characters and its very funny and emotional at the end as well

Light-hearted film. Really fun and enjoyable.

I didn’t know who the Guardians of the Galaxy were before watching this movie. But now I do and I love them! This is such a hilarious and action packed movie. I like how it manages to be a comedy while still having a good amount of serious moments. It balances out perfectly. It can even get emotional at times. Groot’s death is very sad. That scene where they’re holding hands and defeat the villain is very intense. It’s too bad the sequel wasn’t this good. It kind of makes me worried for Deadpool 2. Guardians of the Galaxy was an incredible surprise. I’m so glad I saw it. I never get tired of watching it.

5 Iron Man

I love the simplicity of this film with a lot of sense of humor, great action and a very believable romance between Pepper Pots and Tony Stark.

Plus Robert Downey Jr as IronMan was just perfect.

So yeah, this is the one that started it all. 10 years ago, the very first MCU movie was released. And it was brilliant. If this movie ended up being a flop, we might not have gotten anymore of these movies. So I’m glad it ended up being really good. The action, the characters, the visuals, the story, it’s all so great! Robert Downey Jr. was an excellent choice for Tony Stark. It’s great seeing how Tony became Iron Man. It’s also great seeing him actually admit to the world that he is Iron Man. Superheroes don’t usually do that. This is such an incredible film and an excellent start to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

6 Thor: Ragnarok

Wow. I can’t believe this is in 6th place. Though I definitely like it more than movies like Captain America Civil War and Black Panther, it isn’t acceptable for other movies like Iron Man to be ahead. Such a great experience, seeing it in the theatres for the first time. It was hilarious and action packed, an all-around great movie.

The most fun, enthralling and diverse MCU film, completely reinvented Thor into a much more likable character, who's fans are now in love with

The best one in my opinion, great action, amazing story, Cate Blanchett's performance, everything was flawless

Same as Guardians of the Galaxy. Light hearted and fun! I liked Hela too.

7 Spider-Man: Homecoming

I’ve always been a huge fan of Spider-Man. I enjoyed the first two San Raimi Spider-Man movies and the first Amazing Spider-Man movie is a guilty pleasure. I was really excited for Spider-Man Homecoming since Tom Holland proved to us how great of a Spidey he can be in Civil War. So I watched it and enjoyed it. But of course, MegaSoulZero still managed to find things to complain about. Like the high tech Spidey suit. We already have a character with a high tech suit. We don’t need another one. Some of the action can be pretty disappointing. Especially the end fight sequence. The MJ reveal was terrible, Flash Thompson is very annoying, and the twist involving the villain is way to cliché. But the thing that makes this movie so good is the fact that it still manages to show us that Peter is still a kid and has to deal with normal everyday stuff aside from the superhero stuff. Tom Holland still gives a very great performance. The Vulture is also very enjoyable. Definitely one of ...more

Tom Holland is spot-on in this movie. He is the perfect actor for this role. I loved this movie and was hilarious

I agree with you MegaSoulhero this movie is overrated, I preffered the Sam Raimi trilogy over this one, and even the first TASM movie over this one. One flaw this sufers from is that they never, and I mean NEVER mention the villian's name, they just call him Mr. Toomes (he's still awesone though)! And the spidey-suit looks like a halloween suit

Ahhh, yes, REBOOT. But seriously, I really like this film. Vulture was certainly a nice touch too.

8 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

I honestly don’t know what happened here. I feel like James Gunn didn’t realize what made the first film so great. The first one managed to focus on the story while adding humor. This one just mainly focuses on the humor. In just about every scene, by just about every character, there is some kind of joke that happens. It makes it hard to care about what’s happening. This is also a problem I had with Thor: Ragnarok. People don’t watch these movies just for the comedy. I’d honestly be surprised if some told me right now that they only watch Marvel films for the comedy. I was very disappointed with this film. It had potential but so much was wasted.

Guardians of shrek: vol 2

Not nearly as good as the first one, but still a nice addition to the MCU.

9 Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is a nice character, and this movie was interesting.

10 Captain America: The First Avenger
The Contenders
11 Ant-Man

Ant-Man is one of those superheroes you’ve probably never heard of. But now that he’s part of the MCU, everyone has heard of him. And he is so cool! Of all the MCU films, this one is the most hilarious. Mainly because of Paul Rudd. He even helped write the movie. There are also a bunch of great visual gags as well. Like the Thomas the Tank Engine scene. That had me laughing very hard. I’m very excited for Ant-Man and the Wasp. It looks like it will be just as good as this.

Didn't like it as much as the second one, but I like Paul Rudd as Scott Lang.

Extremely fun and underrated, so is the sequel

Hilarious! And very entertaining.

12 Spider-Man: Far From Home

Not as good as Homecoming, but good nonetheless.

13 Spider-Man: No Way Home

#1 no doubt. It was funny but also dark in parts, and all the villains, and Spidermans were great

14 Ant-Man and the Wasp

Honestly, I find this to be the most underrated film in the MCU. Does it get hate because of its awkward release between Infinity War and Endgame? Anyway, I really like it.

15 The Incredible Hulk
16 Iron Man 2
17 Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 isn’t as good as the first Iron Man, but it’s miles better than the atrocity known as Iron Man 2. The thing that I really like about this movie is that it shows us that Tony doesn’t always have to rely on a suit to help him through situations. I love the character development here. I also thought this one had the best action out of all the Iron Man films. There are problems though. I really hate the Mandarin twist. That really made me angry. And the villain we did end up getting was very disappointing. I also thought some of the decisions Tony made were very dumb. Like giving away his address to the enemy. That was really stupid of him to do. But overall, I enjoyed it. It’s not perfect but still entertaining.

18 Captain Marvel (2019)

An epic introduction to he MCU's strongest heroine, this entry is guaranteed to give proper insights into her origin, her prowess, and will probably confirm my theory of her being trapped into The Quantum Realm (she looks exactly the same in her movie, which is in the 1990s, and in Avengers 4 which is 20 years later)

Captain surely shrek omg yes

The movie is simply amazing.

This movie is boring

19 Thor

How in the absolute hell did this movie get below the Emoji Movie?! Emoji Movie isn't even in the MCU, and it certainly isn't better than any movie in the MCU, even Iron 2! It makes no sense.

20 Thor: The Dark World

Even though it wasn't that good of a movie, surely it's still at least better than the Emoji Movie! Why is the Emoji Movie even here? It isn't a Marvel movie at all.

21 X-Men
22 The Emoji Movie

I did like Emoji Movie but the problem with this being on here is it's super hated and obviouslynot MCU.

If I would've added this Top Tens would suspend me

Why is the worst movie here.

This isn't marvel

23 Loki

? There's a movie of him?!

24 Ghost Rider
