Top Ten Awards That Should Be Given If There Were Thrash Metal Awards

The Top Ten
1 Best Solo - Tornado of Souls (Megadeth)

I'd give that one to fade to black. Although that one's heavy metal, not thrash metal, so never mind, I agree with this.

Nominees:
Tornado of souls (Megadeth)
Elimination (overkill)
One (Metallica)

2 Best Bassist - Cliff Burton (Metallica)

Nominees:
Burton (Metallica)
Araya (slayer)
Trujillo (Metallica) (I think he is overshadowed by Burton too much, but a really unique player)

3 Best Drummer - Dave Lombardo (Slayer)

My nominees:
1. Dave Lombardo (Slayer)
2. Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Testament - 2 albums)
3. Mike Mangini (Annihilator) - I'd say he's the best drummer but nobody thinks of him as thrash, especially now when he is associated with Dream Theater and prog drumming.
That's why I give it to Lombardo but Gene Hoglan is a pretty strong contender for the #1 spot, too.

Nominees:
Lombardo (slayer)
Menza (Megadeth)
Adler (he can be classed as thrash for his work with Megadeth, but he really make it here with lamb of god)

4 Best Riff - Holy Wars (Megadeth)

Megadeth isn't my first thrash choice but this is the riff that impressed me at most.

5 Best Musician - Dave Mustaine (Megadeth)

Maybe Megadeth isn't as great as Metallica, but Dave is definitely the best overall musician. He was one of the founding members of thrash metal and he's very musically innovative. He writes a majority of Megadeth's songs as well, and in those songs he sings great, while at the same time playing sick guitar riffs and sometimes solos. There's no denying that Dave is the best thrash musician.

I would nominate the same 3 people but I would give it to Hetfield - he was more influential towards thrash popularization in the 80s, he was the epitome of thrash. He's also a better leader of his band than Mustaine. And a better singer.
Mustaine is a better guitarist but the award "Best Musician" is more than that.

Nominees:
Mustaine (Megadeth)
Hetfield (Metallica)
Waters (Annihilator)

I love the idea of this list - thrash Grammys? Sure, it's cool. Great job, gemcloben!

6 Best Musician - James Hetfield (Metallica)
7 Best Song - Head Crusher (Megadeth)

Well, that's not the one I expected to be here. I didn't expect it to be anywhere, to be honest. I find this one a bit too heavy. Here are my nominees:
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) - Metallica
Tornado of Souls - Megadeth
Badlands - Metal Church
And so many more...

I love so many thrash songs that I would probably nominate more than 30.
1. The Four Horsemen - Metallica (or some other Metallica song).
2. Black Prophecies - Dark Angel
3. Raining Blood - Slayer

Nominees:
Head crusher (Megadeth)
Motorbreath (Metallica)
Elimination (overkill)

8 Best Ballad - Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)

Fade to Black by far. I'd still take the unforgiven first, but then I'll take Nothing Else matters as third (just talking about Metallica), but A Tout Le Monde is also one of the greatest.

9 Best Riff - Elimination (Overkill)

I think that the Elimination riff (1989) sounds pretty much like Master of Puppets (1986).

Tornado of Souls! Wow, I'm giving a lot of these awards to that song

Nominees:
Elimination (overkill)
Master of puppets (Metallica)
Holy wars (Megadeth)

I just didn't like the vocals overall a good song

10 Best Singer - Chuck Billy (Testament)
The Contenders
11 Best Album - Kill 'em All (Metallica)

Ride the Lightning! Kill em All is amazing, but not as special, fantastic, and well done as Ride the Lightning. James improved his growl and they found the perfect thrash metal sound, while at the same time, writing 8 songs which I would all call "insanely good".

Alice In Hell - Annihilator. It brought more technical and sophisticated elements to the table, and also influenced Rust In Peace.

Rust in Peace man! I don't think Countdown to Extinction is purely thrash. It's kind of their black album.

Nominees:
Kill 'em all (Metallica)
Countdown to extinction (Megadeth)
Souls of black (testament)

12 Best Thrash Instrumental - Arc Lite (Coroner)

Nominees:
Arc Lite (Coroner)
Orion (Metallica)
Musical Death (Testament)

The Call of Ktulu - Metallica

13 Best Ballad - Return to Serenity (Testament)

Nominees:
Return to serenity (testament)
A tout le monde (Megadeth)
Nothing else matters (Metallica)

14 Best Thrash Cover Of Non-metal Song - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting (Flotsam and Jetsam)

Nominees:
1. Saturday Night's Allright For Fighting - Flotsam and Jetsam (Elton John cover)
2. Whiskey In The Jar - Metallica (Thin Lizzy cover)
3. I Want You (She's So Heavy) - Coroner (The Beatles cover).
This is the best Beatles cover - confirmed by the Beatles fans I know (I sent them the link because nobody knew this cover existed).

Am I Evil? - Diamond Head (this one's New Wave of British Heavy Metal)

15 Best Vocal Performance - Absence of Light (Testament)

Nominees:
Absence of light (testament)
Elimination (overkill)
Madhouse (anthrax)

16 Best Album - Pleasure to Kill (Kreator)
17 Most Overrated Band - Megadeth

Fanboys just ventured beyond Metallica, they think Dave Mustaine is some kind of God.
He's the Donald Trump of Metal.
