Most Underrated Countries19Leviathan14 These are the most underrated countries on earth, unlike France, Britain or the USA, who are considered as overrated.

Jestem Amerikaninim, ale jestesm Polakiem na pol or I am an American, but I am half Polish, my mother being of Irish, Swiss, and Norwegian extraction. However, I am proud of my Polish roots, having been to Ireland three time, Swizterland once but to Poland 11 times. Poland is vastly underrated by the international community, by travel groups, by Americans in general, ad nauseum. It is a wonderful country and society. I have felt less anti Americanism there than in any other country in which I have traveled.
Please study the history and culture of Poland. Search it on the internet, please.
One more comment: the Polish jokes started with Hitler in order to pave the way for the invasion of Poland in September of 1939. The Poles came to be viewed as subhuman, dumb, slow, et cetera. The Polish joke emigrated to the US via German displaced persons to the US after WWII as many were disgruntled with the displacement of eastern Germany (which was Poland historically-check it ...more
The United States of America is often quoted as being the most free, democratic country in the world. What most people don't know is that before the invasion of Poland in 1939, the start of World War II, Poland was the most tolerant, liberal, democratic and free country in Europe. There was simply no racism. Even America couldn't make that claim back then. Poland took in Jews, Africans and many other minorities, when no other country would. It is a country rich in history, kings and castles. Poland has historically shown bravery and resiliency, never had started a war or invaded another country in its 1000 year history (yes, that's a thousand with 3 zeros). In fact, it always had to defend itself and it did so successfully, against many enemies, throughout its history. Poland never attacked, always defended. In fact, even when outnumbered, by the Germans in 1939 and smashed to pieces, the polish army still put up a brave fight. Legend has it that the Polish army used horses and swords ...more
Poland is definitely the most underrated (at least, as far as talent goes), not sure about visit-wise. Around those areas near European countries are quite competitive. If I had to look at talent in style and intellect, the only two countries that come to mind are Poland and Japan. Polish people are true craftsmen. They create, not copy, and have excellent technical skills.
Poland is SO underrated, it's annoying.
Incredibly underrated, they have one of the Top 5's economies, football teams and cultures, for Example the Oktoberfest. They are also one of the less western countries having good diplomatic relations with Iran and many other Islamic countries and at least even an embassy in North Korea. Here in Mexico, Germany is the only western country being considered as having a positive influence in the world.
They don't deserve to be connected with Hitler and all this Nazi rubbish anymore! - 19Leviathan14
Germany Mexico Japan = Former enemies of the USA, America sets the standard, no wonder that these three countries are on top of this list. The only thing is that these three countries, even Mexico, is more beloved than the USA!
I don't regret taking German as a foreign language even though most people told me not to. They wanted me to take French or Italian, etc. 10 years later they can't say anything in their respective languages because they lost interest! I never let go of my chosen language- German because the people are so friendly! The country is beautiful! Their literature is interesting, their music is so fun, and well I love their beer too! Hehe I could go on and on but I will just say that I was immediately hooked and have continued to remain up to date with the happenings in Germany. I read their news every day! I was once worried because people at school would demotivate me but I had the last laugh it seems laugh out loud now I am fluent and I LOVE Germany
THEIR FOOD IS JUST GREATV 11 Comments
Many people believe Canada is full of igloos and maple syrup but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Some of the best cities in the world are in Canada! In Vancouver you can snowboard and surf in one day and Toronto is one of North America's largest and fastest growing cities. Quebec City is one of the best examples of European architecture outside of Europe and Montreal is one of the most underrated cities in my opinion. Come to Canada and check it out for yourself!
It's america except less crowded more natural and friendlier people also we think we live in the best country in the world but don't feel the need to say or prove it we have pretty much everything you could want in a travel destination dolphins whales extreme activities and despite what you may have heard mild weather on the coasts hell we even have a island that produces a massive amount of salmon and has the largest biodiversity of wolves in the world at least 15 genotypes
Canada is so underrated. I've never been there, but I really want to go. Based on things I've learned about it, it seems like one of the best places in the world to live.
This beautiful country barely gets any of the attention it deserves.V 8 Comments
We are not in international news, nor our boys win any world cups and we don't have half-witted glamour industry like our two giant neighbors do and boast about. But what we have is a state full of rich natural beauty, unique culture and most prominently we are open and respect anyone and anything. We don't need hype. We know what we are and what our country is. Nepal has always been a country of free men as we have always been independent never been ruled by any foreign powers. Only if our politicians think straighthead, Nepal can be a a-list player in tourism industry.
This small landlocked country is full of natural and cultural diversity. Must visit for everyone looking for adventure.
Terribly underrated... A lot of potential and a lot of healthy manpower seriously on the down side currently
Some kids are forced to get married and have kids young. Not all, but it does happen.
Also, none of you are providing evidence as to how it's underrated.
Lots of countries come to our country and steal out natural resources like uranium, coal, gold, silver, iron, bronze, and bunch of other stuff. IT is not fair because we are under pressure of our neighbors, especially, China! Did you know that Chinese males steal Mongolian women to make Mongolian population fewer so they can have our land, culture and people? Chinese government is super evil!
A ridiculously beautiful country with the nicest people that I've ever met this country is so unique
Under huge pressure from Russia and China, a tiny population, but a huge amount of soil ressources, no wonder Russia and China want it (and soon the USA too, like they attacked Lybia in order to secure oil). - 19Leviathan14
One best answer, the shabu-shabu food and these people are super-friendly that people can get super cheap food here! Plus the Philippines never beaten Mongolia in
FIBA and way smarter than Filipinos and I'm Filipino!
South Africa, the per capita national income 1 mandal best from Africa over 10,000 live exemplary national GDP of all of Africa occupies 1/3, and the Mediterranean genital Cape Town since people livable cities. Abandoned nuclear weapons only country in the world, while eliminating the need for past racism famous, infamous apartheid, Mandela is a country famous. A successful World Cup and 2010 World Cup hosts, the crime rate in three years, a whopping 30 percent decrease. Is a bad image for South Africa is due to strengthen the management and policing. - gogofiu
Ountries except the countries of the former Soviet Union, only abandoning nuclear weapons is a very nice country.
Correction: Mexico is not the most hated country around the americas, is the most envied country, South and central American envy Mexico because is more famous than their countries and have more culture and US people hates Mexico because they are ignorant.
Mexicans are the most hated people around Americas (That includes South America) due to the huge percentage of people with poor behavior, ethics, and attitude.
My homecountry, often being considered as underrated like Germany, people often connect Mexico to the Drug Wars at the border to the USA. But we're more than that! We are one of the strongest latinoamerican counry! - 19Leviathan14
I’m German but I visited Mexico last year and I fell in love with everything! The beaches, the food, women are so hot! I plan to go back again soon...V 1 Comment
Seriously, Japan goes through so much crap. Millions of people died under the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and yet newspapers put out crap like "We bombed the Japs! " and Americans could only cheer and scream for joy while innocents die and families have to bear the burden of their lost ones. Years later, they get earthquakes, tsunami's, and now a radiation leak. What do people do? Sit and turn their back on the suffering... People don't realize the incredible culture Japan has.
19Leviathan14, you have made a great list, Germany and Mexico are given so much stereotypes along with Japan. - Buddha
Japan is amazing, been there a few years ago. Its beautiful there and is just as good as any other country in the world. just like Germany Japan has its bad reputation to look out for but many people don't even think about Japan anymore and just consider Germany as the 'bad guy'(which is partly true). I don't think Japan is really UNDERrated but its not overrated at the same time. Many people love Japan including me and I don't get bashed for that like when I say that I love Germany. I love both countries and I am proud of it. They are both amazing and just as good as any other country. I'm not that kind of person that goes around hating on a country for what they did in the past or of that whats happening in the moment. I can dislike people when I know them but I wont judge a whole country based on their history and stereotypes. I like Japan, Germany, France, Norway, UK, USA, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Canada, Egypt, ...more
Japan has to be the most hated and liked countries in the world (hated by the rich countries, liked by the poor countries). The only thing to hate about Japan is the stupid republic made after World War 2, who hides the good facts that Japan did and make up fake stories about the Japanese cruelty. Also, the republic can't think about good decision and do screwed up ideas. A humiliation to the people who died bravely in war and intelligent people who tried to change and protect the country. Other than that, there isn't much things to hate about Japan. I mean really.
Way underestimated. Good country and pioneer in video games!V 6 Comments
A diverse country with over 10,000 islands, Indonesia has plenty of things to do. You can visit large temples, such as those in Borobudur, relax in Bali, and see active volcanoes. I don't understand why Indonesia is so underrated. There's great food, such as different types of curries, sambal, and satay. Indonesia has an interesting culture, with walang kulit puppets, dances, and more. Biodiversity is high in Indonesia, with interesting animals such as the Komodo Dragon. Although I'm not Indonesian, I'd say that everyone should visit this country at least once in their life. - ethanmeinster
Hello from neighbouring Philippines! Votes for Indonesia. This country is underrated indeed, despite population, size, diversity, culture and history.
Thank you! Indonesia is beautiful and huge, with lots of amazing things there. And the food is REALLY underrated.
The 4th most populous country on the planet, one of most diverse culture with more than 700 regional language, strategic location and 90% of population is moderate moslem, which could enlightened our western friend that moslem is not always a suicide freak. Still don't get it why we're not among the top 10
The only bad thing about Portugal it's the Government everything else is AMAZING!
Highly over looked. Often thought of as a vassle of Spain. A country that is over a thousand years old with a ton of history and some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Some of the greatest sea food you will ever eat and home of one of the only good dictators. (he is dead)
The best country in the entire world!
Cabo the Roca - place where land ends and sea begins.
Sintra - simply a pearl. So many objects are located in this small city.
Not so many tourists and that's good.
I can't believe Austria is after England or Italy. It is simply beautiful, both natural landscapes and cities and the people are just awesome.
Austria has so much to offer but Austria is kinda like in the shadow of its big brother Germany and the cousin Switzerland
Extremely underrated, but it's one of the most beautiful and civilised countries in Europe!
Colombia has a horrible, false reputation but it is a beautiful country, probably just as safe or even safer then other Latin American countries. Beautiful landscapes, people, everything. It is amazing.
Colombia is often over looked because of violence, drugs and crime but behind every thing that is said, Colombia is one of the countries with most fauna and flora. There are varieties of cultures and new things to learn everywhere. The best part are Colombians, their passion for their country and love for their nation is beautiful and contagious.
Beautiful music and beautiful scenery! Colombia is a large enough country to contain a huge variety of regions, climates, and cultures. Check it out!
LOVE THIS COUNTRY
Vietnam is a good destination because Vietnam has a wonderful culture such as the delicious food, the traditional dress, the Buddhist religion and wonderful people. In Vietnam people are like your second family.
Hungarian inventions include: the noiseless match (Jànos Irinyi), Rubik’s cube (Ernö Rubik), the krypton electric bulb (Imre Bródy), and the discovery of vitamins B6, riboflavin, and biotin (Paul Gyorgy). Several other notable inventions were made by Hungarians who fled the country before World War II, including holography (Dennis Gabor), the ballpoint pen (László Bíró), the theory of the hydrogen bomb (Edward Teller), and BASIC programming language (John Kemény and Thomas E. Kurtz)
Financier George Soros was born in Hungary. He has given away some 45% of his net worth. In 2013, his charitable donations totaled US $734 million, according to Forbes.com, putting him No. 5 on their list of philanthropists, after Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg
Guatemala is very underrated. Everyone shoves it away and says it's a "small power" and treats it like it's not important. Guatemala may be below Argentina, Brail, Chile, and Mexico, but esides those huge countries Guatemala is pretty powerful. It also has great food and amazing culture, plus volcanoes!
Possibly had better government than any other country
This landlocked country deserves more recognition. Also, love the flag. Haha
Most people know nothing about France except for Paris, even though its cities are beautiful and its history is interesting. Most people take Spanish instead of French because they think it is easier and more useful. (Both of these are wrong; French and Spanish are just as difficult, and there are more French-speaking countries in the world than Spanish-speaking countries) Most people think French people are rude, which they are not; in fact, French people are some of the nicest people I have ever met. This should definitely be number one. - Mooshroomsrock17
Because major part of people know only Paris and French Riviera, but France is thousands of times more.
We've been for example in Corsica, and I have visited dozens of Mediterranean islands, and surely Corsica is the most fabulous with so beautiful forests, mountains and of course its beaches.
Better then you think, greater than you think, Happy New Year 2017, God bless France and French people.
Don't forget all the French overseas regions who have unique mix of cultures! (La Réunion, French Guiana, Tahiti...) - EthnopopV 2 Comments
Scotland is awesome, we don't run around in the rain all the time eating haggis, that's stereotypical. And we don't always wear kilts. I've been to England, and they're similar.
Land of the ginger, Haggis, And Some of the best music around (from all genres)
Lovely lovely people! Not expensive either. Beautiful and fresh scenery!
