Most Underrated Countries19Leviathan14 These are the most underrated countries on earth, unlike France, Britain or the USA, who are considered as overrated.
The Top Ten
Jestem Amerikaninim, ale jestesm Polakiem na pol or I am an American, but I am half Polish, my mother being of Irish, Swiss, and Norwegian extraction. However, I am proud of my Polish roots, having been to Ireland three time, Swizterland once but to Poland 11 times. Poland is vastly underrated by the international community, by travel groups, by Americans in general, ad nauseum. It is a wonderful country and society. I have felt less anti Americanism there than in any other country in which I have traveled.
Please study the history and culture of Poland. Search it on the internet, please.
One more comment: the Polish jokes started with Hitler in order to pave the way for the invasion of Poland in September of 1939. The Poles came to be viewed as subhuman, dumb, slow, et cetera. The Polish joke emigrated to the US via German displaced persons to the US after WWII as many were disgruntled with the displacement of eastern Germany (which was Poland historically-check it ...more
The United States of America is often quoted as being the most free, democratic country in the world. What most people don't know is that before the invasion of Poland in 1939, the start of World War II, Poland was the most tolerant, liberal, democratic and free country in Europe. There was simply no racism. Even America couldn't make that claim back then. Poland took in Jews, Africans and many other minorities, when no other country would. It is a country rich in history, kings and castles. Poland has historically shown bravery and resiliency, never had started a war or invaded another country in its 1000 year history (yes, that's a thousand with 3 zeros). In fact, it always had to defend itself and it did so successfully, against many enemies, throughout its history. Poland never attacked, always defended. In fact, even when outnumbered, by the Germans in 1939 and smashed to pieces, the polish army still put up a brave fight. Legend has it that the Polish army used horses and swords ...more
Ridiculous. Poland is full of some of the most awful, racist, dishonest, xenophobic, arrogant, jackasses on earth. It is a toxic culture full of shockingly rude and tactless people.
Poland is just BEAUTIFUL, dude. - FuziionV 20 Comments
Why France is one of most underrated country, because not known enough and not recognized at fair value:
Lots of different landscapes, architectures, more than 36 000 villages and cities, lots of different cultures etc...
Famous for its food, gastronomy, for its History (for the best and worst), its known thousands of castles (e.G. versailles, Castles of the Loire Valley (Chateaux de la Loire)),
Its river network (the first in Europe), ski area (the largest in Europe) etc..
Among the most beautiful beaches in the world, because of many Islands and territories like:
- Part of Amazon basin (French Guyana),
- French Polynesia with about 120 among the most beautiful Islands (Pacific Ocean), - French Caribbean with various known islands (Atlantic Ocean),
- Reunion, Mayotte are splendid islands (Indian Ocean)
And France (mainland) surrounded by North Sea, Atlantic Sea and Mediterranean.
That makes France one of the rare countries flanked by 4 ...more
France is not underrated - darthvadern
I used to live in France, and I find it annoying how everyone only knows about Paris. Other smaller towns and cities, like Lyon and Thoiry, which is where I lived, get no appreciation. The number of amazing tourist destinations are endless. The culture is amazing, and one of my favorite thing is looking at the old castles.
Are you kidding me?
France has the best tourism in the world! - neehawgamer
Incredibly underrated, they have one of the Top 5's economies, football teams and cultures, for Example the Oktoberfest. They are also one of the less western countries having good diplomatic relations with Iran and many other Islamic countries and at least even an embassy in North Korea. Here in Mexico, Germany is the only western country being considered as having a positive influence in the world.
They don't deserve to be connected with Hitler and all this Nazi rubbish anymore! - 19Leviathan14
How is Germany underrated? - darthvadern
Not underrated, but you have to admit it's AMAZING - neehawgamer
I've been to Germany for a month and it was great. I didn't visit one of the popular cities like Berlin, instead I went to a small town called much, I don't know if I spelled it right but there are many nice restaurants and cafes that serve amazing ice cream, and the people are very friendly and welcoming. I also loved the scenery because I was in a small town so there was a lot of nature and farms. I really recommend visiting Germany - jasmynnerashidV 14 Comments
It has a dragon on the flag, enough siad - darthvadern
Possibly had better government than any other country
This landlocked country deserves more recognition. Also, love the flag. Haha
With the Himalayas and the better HDI than Nepal, this is the Switzerland of Asia!
Too late. I have no idea who coined the term, but "Switzerland of Asia" or rather "Switzerland of Central Asia" is already taken. - johndoe19
Canada is very known though - darthvadern
Many people believe Canada is full of igloos and maple syrup but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Some of the best cities in the world are in Canada! In Vancouver you can snowboard and surf in one day and Toronto is one of North America's largest and fastest growing cities. Quebec City is one of the best examples of European architecture outside of Europe and Montreal is one of the most underrated cities in my opinion. Come to Canada and check it out for yourself!
It's america except less crowded more natural and friendlier people also we think we live in the best country in the world but don't feel the need to say or prove it we have pretty much everything you could want in a travel destination dolphins whales extreme activities and despite what you may have heard mild weather on the coasts hell we even have a island that produces a massive amount of salmon and has the largest biodiversity of wolves in the world at least 15 genotypes
Exetremly underrated. I'm Canadian and I see memes created by Americans down in the USA like meanwhile in Canada and there is like a person with a pet polar bear. Yeah it was a little funny but also a lot of people in the USA will believe in such garbage. Canada knows more about the U.S.AV 12 Comments
Mostly just known for the unique flag - darthvadern
I'm surprised (but glad) to see that Nepal actually made it on the list. Yes, it's economically poor, but its rich culture easily makes up for it.
We are not in international news, nor our boys win any world cups and we don't have half-witted glamour industry like our two giant neighbors do and boast about. But what we have is a state full of rich natural beauty, unique culture and most prominently we are open and respect anyone and anything. We don't need hype. We know what we are and what our country is. Nepal has always been a country of free men as we have always been independent never been ruled by any foreign powers. Only if our politicians think straighthead, Nepal can be a a-list player in tourism industry.
Terribly underrated... A lot of potential and a lot of healthy manpower seriously on the down side currentlyV 6 Comments
A small but during the history one of the biggest countries - darthvadern
The only bad thing about Portugal it's the Government everything else is AMAZING!
Highly over looked. Often thought of as a vassle of Spain. A country that is over a thousand years old with a ton of history and some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Some of the greatest sea food you will ever eat and home of one of the only good dictators. (he is dead)
The best country in the entire world!V 3 Comments
Seriously, Japan goes through so much crap. Millions of people died under the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and yet newspapers put out crap like "We bombed the Japs! " and Americans could only cheer and scream for joy while innocents die and families have to bear the burden of their lost ones. Years later, they get earthquakes, tsunami's, and now a radiation leak. What do people do? Sit and turn their back on the suffering... People don't realize the incredible culture Japan has.
19Leviathan14, you have made a great list, Germany and Mexico are given so much stereotypes along with Japan. - Buddha
Japan? Underrated? - darthvadern
Japan is amazing, been there a few years ago. Its beautiful there and is just as good as any other country in the world. just like Germany Japan has its bad reputation to look out for but many people don't even think about Japan anymore and just consider Germany as the 'bad guy'(which is partly true). I don't think Japan is really UNDERrated but its not overrated at the same time. Many people love Japan including me and I don't get bashed for that like when I say that I love Germany. I love both countries and I am proud of it. They are both amazing and just as good as any other country. I'm not that kind of person that goes around hating on a country for what they did in the past or of that whats happening in the moment. I can dislike people when I know them but I wont judge a whole country based on their history and stereotypes. I like Japan, Germany, France, Norway, UK, USA, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Canada, Egypt, ...more
Japan has to be the most hated and liked countries in the world (hated by the rich countries, liked by the poor countries). The only thing to hate about Japan is the stupid republic made after World War 2, who hides the good facts that Japan did and make up fake stories about the Japanese cruelty. Also, the republic can't think about good decision and do screwed up ideas. A humiliation to the people who died bravely in war and intelligent people who tried to change and protect the country. Other than that, there isn't much things to hate about Japan. I mean really.V 7 Comments
Once the biggest country in the world is now a very unknown and rather small country - darthvadern
Mongolia is truly a land of beauty. Despite its small population, it should be considered a tourist hot spot. It has rich culture, rare wildlife such as wolves and snow leopards, and is often overlooked due to its location in between the popular countries of China and Russia.
Lots of countries come to our country and steal out natural resources like uranium, coal, gold, silver, iron, bronze, and bunch of other stuff. IT is not fair because we are under pressure of our neighbors, especially, China! Did you know that Chinese males steal Mongolian women to make Mongolian population fewer so they can have our land, culture and people? Chinese government is super evil!
A ridiculously beautiful country with the nicest people that I've ever met this country is so uniqueV 4 Comments
Only known because of the movie with the same name - darthvadern
South Korea is not underrated - darthvadern
I hate the people who say "ooh, SK's the not-so-good version of China and Japan", where it's equally brilliant! I don't see why people miss it out like this. It's also got nothing to do with the North, so, by that logic, South Korea deserves a lot more recognition!
South Korea is the 8th richest country, yet no one knows them. It is as good as China and Japan, but people concentrate on the bigger countries.
Korea is underrated, because so much of their culture is mistakenly considered Japanese, when Korea introduced it to Japan first. Stuff like katanas, ninjas, certain foodsV 7 Comments
One of the safest african countries - darthvadern
Finland is the most underrated of the nordic countries - darthvadern
Finnish weapons and music bands are really great. Go check out Korpiklanni and the Suomi KP/-31. Finland sure knows how to make quality stuff. Also, the land is nice too.
Everyone compared Finland always with Sweden saying like Sweden is the best country ever when Finland is the worst country ever. What's wrong with Finland?
Sweden is always at good places but why not Finland?
Ps:Sorry for bad English
Mexico is the opposite of underrated. Everyone knows about it - darthvadern
Correction: Mexico is not the most hated country around the americas, is the most envied country, South and central American envy Mexico because is more famous than their countries and have more culture and US people hates Mexico because they are ignorant.
Are you kidding me? Mexico is one of the most ambitious countries. This is the opposite of underrated.
My homecountry, often being considered as underrated like Germany, people often connect Mexico to the Drug Wars at the border to the USA. But we're more than that! We are one of the strongest latinoamerican counry! - 19Leviathan14V 3 Comments

Austria rocks - darthvadern
I can't believe Austria is after England or Italy. It is simply beautiful, both natural landscapes and cities and the people are just awesome.
Austria has so much to offer but Austria is kinda like in the shadow of its big brother Germany and the cousin Switzerland
Extremely underrated, but it's one of the most beautiful and civilised countries in Europe!
It's one of the more known of Central America though - darthvadern
Guatemala is very underrated. Everyone shoves it away and says it's a "small power" and treats it like it's not important. Guatemala may be below Argentina, Brail, Chile, and Mexico, but esides those huge countries Guatemala is pretty powerful. It also has great food and amazing culture, plus volcanoes!
Beautiful country, so much to do, the nicest people, lots of history
That's not a country, it's an area in Oceania - darthvadern
How are France and Germany in the top five? It makes no sense. A lot of these countries are very known. Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Nepal, Mexico, Finland, China and South Korea are all very known. Among the most known. Meanwhile actually underrated countries like Kyrgyzstan, Tajikitan, Burkino Faso and Zambia are very low down, but are way more underrated. Burkino Faso in particular holds some amazing history and culture that is worth checking out - darthvadern
Nobody even knows where it is.
Is China underrated? Pretty sure everyone knows about it - darthvadern
China is an extremely underrated countries thanks to the god awful haters that keep bashing on China. - 50

A diverse country with over 10,000 islands, Indonesia has plenty of things to do. You can visit large temples, such as those in Borobudur, relax in Bali, and see active volcanoes. I don't understand why Indonesia is so underrated. There's great food, such as different types of curries, sambal, and satay. Indonesia has an interesting culture, with walang kulit puppets, dances, and more. Biodiversity is high in Indonesia, with interesting animals such as the Komodo Dragon. Although I'm not Indonesian, I'd say that everyone should visit this country at least once in their life. - ethanmeinster

It seems to me like Pakistan has moulded their own unique culture and values, especially having tremendous musical prowess. But a lot of their customs, including some I don't agree with, are stemmed from Hindu customs and are at large Indian e.g. dowry system and other marriage and sexist customs which are Indian. Pakistan is s great country but should wear off customs like this as they don't represent their culture.
People are so ignorant about Pakistan as a country when, if you actually have a look and not on the media and stuff, Pakistan has a mainstream side just like any other country can have. They produce excellent fashion, music, dramas, television, etc. They're people just like us with different lifestyles and cultures that's all.
Honestly speaking Pakistan could have been in a bad situation now but they are strong economy wise and military wise. Their politicians are pigs, do not care a damn about their country or people. The politicians and certain public figures probably don't make things any easy for Pakistanis and the already tarnished image of Pak. This must change. If Pakistan is such a terrorist country there wouldn't be much left of it. There is plenty of beautiful things and people there. Pakistan is more developed than some of its neighbours, they are lucky to have such modernisation that actually improved their lifestyle and is making the place a safe and happy place to live and visitV 13 Comments

A lot of times Taiwan is mistaken by Thailand. Also due to the pressure from China, they are not even recognized as a ountry even though they have their own president elections, flag and national anthem. Although they all speak Chinese, Taiwan is very different from China and other Asain countries by its unique people, culture and food!
Friendly people, nice medical care, and good food.
I'm Taiwanese-American, born in the U.S. but I have been traveling to Taiwan every year since I was a baby. The people are honestly, the nicest, most understanding people, the food is SO good, and the culture is so vibrant. My mom is from Dongshi so I always visited the countryside on my visits. It's a gorgeous country, and I'm so glad it's being recognized more and more.V 4 Comments

I am Scottish. This country is immensely underrated. The Scottish Highlands have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Also good country for hikers + mountaineers.
10/10 should visit
Scotland is awesome, we don't run around in the rain all the time eating haggis, that's stereotypical. And we don't always wear kilts. I've been to England, and they're similar.

Very underrated country in Central Asia. Lovely landscapes.
This country does'nt seem to be recognized by people in most of the time but this should be in the top tens.
Filipinos are known for being hospitable. You can find the best nurses in this country. Also, they are rich in natural resources. The beaches are like paradise and you can really say that the water is as clear as crystal.Beautiful Philippines.
Most people know only about Malaysia and sort there are far more places to visit here, even we filipinos don't recognize the beauty of our country much.
Philippines is A beautiful country! ABUNDANT IN NATURAL RESOURCES!V 4 Comments
One of the best places on Earth, the economy is great, they have a political system that works, and their wildlife/nature is amazing. Oh yeah, and their all super-nice.
They are well-educated, intelligent, so kind, wealthy.
Even though New Zealand is such a small country, they actually got so many medals in London Olympic, also they have the world strongest national Rugby team.
Now they are storing their resource and using the intelligence to grow their wealth.
I feel sorry for New Zealand, I live in Australia and I realise that New Zealand is always called Australia or doesn't exist at all. I know a few people from there and they are brilliant, I've been there recently and most of the people there were much the same. All New Zealand gets in the spotlight is LOTR being filmed there, they deserve far more.
Lord of the Rings was made here! Need I really say any more! Beautiful, awesome and full of hobbits! For the win!V 4 Comments
Colombia has a horrible, false reputation but it is a beautiful country, probably just as safe or even safer then other Latin American countries. Beautiful landscapes, people, everything. It is amazing.
Colombia is often over looked because of violence, drugs and crime but behind every thing that is said, Colombia is one of the countries with most fauna and flora. There are varieties of cultures and new things to learn everywhere. The best part are Colombians, their passion for their country and love for their nation is beautiful and contagious.
Beautiful music and beautiful scenery! Colombia is a large enough country to contain a huge variety of regions, climates, and cultures. Check it out!
LOVE THIS COUNTRY
It is stereotyped as a country full of sheep and coal mines, but in reality it's full of natural beauty, some of the most beautiful beaches, coasts and mountains in the world and the south area is quickly developing with Cardiff becoming a major European city. You can easily escape from the city to the quiet and peaceful country life here.

The truth is Iran is a very beautiful country, lots of nature, mountains, etc. Most of all (and surprising to everyone I know whose been there) the people are so welcoming and friendly. A very nice place to visit.
This country is always hated on by American media. Should be higher, the only part of the country that really hates the west is the government.
