She has an understanding of how to convey emotion that is so new and unique that many don't appreciate that they are hearing something groundbreaking.
That will change in time.
Many folks regard Jackie as a "child star" but she is now 16 years old. She has already accomplished a lot in the five years since she debuted on America's Got Talent. But the best is yet to come, starting with a new album in 2017. - BobG

She has such a beautiful voice. Though it may not be extremely terrific (a la Teena Marie) but she sings well for the pop genre. What really pisses me off is the critics. I think they are just butt-hurt with jealousy and misogyny that a woman can stand her ground, challenge isms and remain sexy after 50 unlike the others.
Yes, she is an entertainer but she is a good vocalist as well. Not everyone must be like Whitney or Celine.
