Best Time Travel Movies of the '80s
By far the best time travel movie of all time.
I came on here to add this movie and was happy to see it at #5, though in my opinion, it deserves the #1 spot.
Yes! This is the best movie that has ever been made! It stars Joey Cramer, Paul Reubens, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cliff De Young, Veronica Cartwright, Matt Adler, Howard Hesseman, Albie Whitaker, Keri Rogers, Raymond Forchion, Jonathan Sanger, and a bunch of other random people. I love this movie with all my heart and know the entire script! I heard they're making a remake of Flight of the Navigator. Yeah, it's probably going to suck.
Basically, this is a time travel movie about David Freeman (Joey Cramer), who gets abducted by a robotic alien commander that's really smart and voiced by Pee-Wee Herman. This film also features a 21-year-old Sarah Jessica Parker (who plays Carolyn McAdams, an intern at NASA who likes to listen to Twisted Sister a lot). There is also an adorable little alien called Puckmaerin.
If you haven't seen this movie, watch it. About 90% of the people who have seen it liked it. If you're space-loving, alien-obsessed, and a huge fan of time travel like I am, I guarantee you'll fall in love with Flight of the Navigator.
Jack Deth is a kind of cop/hunter in a future dystopian Los Angeles. Charles Band directed this film.
Peggy Sue Bodell faints at her high school reunion. When she wakes up, she finds herself in her own past, just before she finished school.
Yes, it wasn't superb, but it's a guilty pleasure film. Dolph Lundgren and Courteney Cox did a good job.
A storm at sea transports a nuclear warship back in time from the 1980s to the 1940s.
My favorite part of the series. I love all the flying boards, high technologies, etc.
How is this movie not in the top 10, or top 5 for that matter? It was made in 1989, so it fits the '80s requirement. They travel through time, so it meets that requirement. And it has the greatest historical humor and stupid teenager jokes out of any movie ever made, so it meets the best requirement too. Please vote to get this movie higher up. It's really funny.
Fantastic story, well told. It was one of my favorites at the time and hasn't really aged, as it isn't too reliant on effects.
Another underrated film. A warlock from the 17th century, who has been sentenced to death for witchcraft, is transported to the 20th century, followed by a witch hunter who must stop the warlock from finding the Grand Grimoire.
