Top 10 Best Rhapsody (of Fire) Songs

Before they were Rhapsody of Fire, they were just Rhapsody, a symphonic metal band out of Italy that decided classical music, power metal, and fantasy storytelling didn't need to live in separate corners of the universe. Formed in the mid-90s, they mixed soaring orchestration with face-melting guitar solos and lyrics that read like excerpts from an epic novel scribbled by a dungeon master with a serious Vivaldi obsession.

Over the years, the band has gone through name changes thanks to legal scuffles, lineup shifts, and even splinter factions. But one thing's stayed the same: they make metal that sounds like a dragon would listen to it before heading into battle. Their songs are less tracks and more multi-act sagas, filled with choirs, harpsichords, narrators, and enough references to ancient gods and enchanted blades to fill a Tolkien appendix.

So which of their symphonic assaults deserves to reign supreme? That's up to you. Cast your votes and see which tracks fellow fans have chosen to rise above the rest.

The Top Ten
  1. Emerald Sword

Rhapsody has a lot of tracks blistering with epic power, but this is them in their prime. From the opening riff to the closing chord, this song pumps you up. Over a decade and several albums later, it's still the song that makes me want to don my armor, unsheathe my blade, and slay foul demons.

This is a really great song. I like the tone, the rhythm, and best of all, the drums. They had a really great drummer, and the bass drum is really well-played. Also, they have great vocals and guitarists too!

  2. Dawn of Victory

It was literally so powerful it pierced through my 12-year-long apathy, induced emotions I forgot for over a decade, and motivated me towards recovery. Five years later, I still listen to it and feel empowered.

Just epic. Excellent riff, lyrics, and rhythm. This was the first Rhapsody song I heard, and it was my favorite. 'Til today, I haven't changed my mind.

When a friend asks me which highlighted Rhapsody song to listen to, I reply Dawn of Victory and Emerald Sword.

  3. Symphony of Enchanted Lands

This is their greatest song. Emerald Sword, Dawn of Victory, Holy Thunderforce, et cetera, are all great singles, but as a whole, Symphony of Enchanted Lands blows them out of the water. It's pure brilliance.

No song compares to Symphony of Enchanted Lands. It's a masterpiece - more than a metal song, it's an art.

  4. Queen of the Dark Horizon

A long epic that creates an incredible tale visually for the listener. Absolutely intense.

A masterwork of a long song, enjoyable throughout, which is over too soon.

My favorite RoF song - it's heavy, melodic, and wonderfully crafted musically!

  5. Reign of Terror

In my opinion, this is the third-best song by Rhapsody after Emerald Sword and Dawn of Victory.

  6. Holy Thunderforce

Impressive song, full of speed, and the harpsichord is so medieval and classic. Double bass and guitar riffs are outstanding, as well as Luca's fantastic virtuoso solo. This should be higher on the list.

  7. Act III: The Ancient Fires of Har - Kuun

This song just flat-out gets me screaming Har-Kuun! One of my VERY favorites by this incredible and unique band.

  8. Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness

So epic. In my opinion, this song does everything right.

In my personal opinion, it is one of the best songs by the band, if not the best.

Listening to this song while at the train station, surrounded by the crowd, I can't stop imagining how they could die in my hands.

It's absolutely impressive how they manage to make a 20-minute song that doesn't get boring to listen to. Simply fantastic.

  9. The Mystic Prophecy of the Demonknight

I'm so drawn into the story, with its starting and stopping. Such a great song.

Epic in every sense of the word. It makes the listener ready to fight.

  10. Rain of a Thousand Flames

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    The Frozen Tears of Angels

Very underrated. This song is pretty solid, and the electric piano is amazing.

  13. ?

    Danza di fuoco e ghiaccio

  14. The Contenders
  15. Unholy Warcry

Perhaps I'm biased because this was my first Rhapsody of Fire song, but I still feel it just edges out their other masterpieces like "Emerald Sword" and "Raging Starfire." The guitar solo is easily the greatest I've ever heard, and I think it has an even more epic feel than most of their other songs. And that's saying something.

  16. Lord of the Thunder

This song is truly a masterpiece. It starts with Fabio's amazing voice and then a half-song solo of pure neoclassical genius. Really awesome.

  17. The Magic of a Wizard's Dream

This is the most epic song by Rhapsody. I was searching for the most epic Rhapsody songs, and I saw this ranked 15th. It should be first.

Just a great song on repeat. Iffy lyrics, but so good.

Their best song, in my opinion. I can listen to it over and over again. Words can't describe its epicness.

  18. Eternal Glory

  19. Sacred Power of Raging Winds

Such a good song. Narration by Sir Christopher Lee as a Dark Lord and a guitar/flute solo battle that covers one of Vivaldi's Four Seasons - what's not to love?

  20. Wisdom of the Kings

The chorus is just mesmerizing. It has a sort of Emerald Sword feeling to it, just portrayed slightly differently. I would have this as my #2.

Great arrangements and chorus. It comes right after Emerald Sword, making a great start to the album.

  21. On the Way to Ainor

One of their most underrated masterpieces, from The Frozen Tears of Angels.

  22. Power of the Dragonflame

Maybe just because it's the first song I heard by them, but this is by far my favorite.

  23. Land of Immortals

The tone of the song is pretty cool, and it works perfectly even without the context of the album. Pretty solid.

One of the only Rhapsody of Fire songs where the chorus doesn't sound too similar. Very memorable.

By far their best song and quite underrated.

  24. Triumph for My Magic Steel

What!? Why isn't this one higher up on the list? Sure, there are many other great songs, but for me, this one is one of my favorites, along with Emerald Sword, Holy Thunderforce, and Wisdom of the Kings.

This song shows the essence, brilliance, and epicness of Rhapsody at its peak. Rocking baroque and magnificent lyrics, bass, keys, and drums are all over the song. And the guitar of Luca is just the best. This should be high up on the list!

  25. Warrior of Ice

How is this not in the top 10? Amazing song from start to finish. I really don't know why this song isn't in the top 10.

The first Rhapsody song and one of the best songs of all time. I don't know how this is not in the top 5. This song is amazing. Just listen to it.

  26. Thunder's Mighty Roar

WHY ISN'T THIS SONG IN THE TOP 5? The guitar riffs, Fabio's awesome voice, and the great imagination put into creating this epic masterpiece create one of the most incredible Rhapsody songs. Its music is a sheer delight, and you can't take it out of your mind. Even my cousin listened to it, and she ABSOLUTELY hates progressive/symphonic metal and just loves Justin Bieber. She went mad and tried to download it from anywhere. This is the magic of this awesome band. Keep rocking, Rhapsody!

  27. Erian's Mystical Rhymes

  28. The Mighty Ride of the Firelord

What I like the most about this song is probably the emotion that it transmits. It starts pretty calm, but it gets more and more aggressive, and the guitar solos are fire.

I thought this song sounded cool, but it took on a whole new meaning when I read the lyrics. This song is extremely well done and tells an incredible story of loss and revenge.

  29. The Dark Tower of Abyss

This song is the best example that metal isn't just screams. It combines powerful music and classical sounds to create an epic experience!

Great mix of power metal and classical music!

This song is a complete masterpiece. One of the best songs of all time (if not the best). This song and Emerald Sword are the best Rhapsody songs. Masterpiece!
