Music Artists that are Called "Awful" that are Really Just Mediocre

Music artists that are commonly told to be awful, when in reality they're just really mediocre.
The Top Ten
1 Nickelback Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

Nickelback isn't even half-as-bad as people make them out to be. Sure Chad Kroeger can be questionable at times, but at least the band can make something solid if they actually try, and some of their songs are actually pretty neat. And yes, there are much worse acts than Nickelback anyway.

Not the worst rock band that ever lived... but not the best one either. If you think they're the worst Rockband ever... then you clearly haven't heard of Insane Clown Posse or Hinder...

They're generic and kind of annoying, but they are not the worst rock band of all time. At least their songs are listenable.

2 Limp Bizkit Limp Bizkit is an American nu-metal/rap metal/rock band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1994. Their lineup consists of Fred Durst, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and Wes Borland. They're mostly known for their singles like Break Stuff, My Way, My Generation, Nookie, Eat You Alive, Rollin', and Take a Look Around... read more

Limp Bizkit ain't good at all, but to be fair, they do have some enjoyable tracks which I find to be guilty pleasure.

The band is good, but the singer sucks. That's why they're mediocre. They need a better singer.

Not great but not terrible either just in between really.

3 Creed Creed is an American post-grunge band, formed in 1993 in Tallahassee, Florida. The band's best-known line-up consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips.

Their first album was decent, their other stuff is meh. And similar to Nickelback there's worse bands out there.

4 Justin Bieber Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada and is Christian. He is the son of author Pattie Mallette. ...read more.

Justin Bieber is a singer than I can surprisingly tolerate. Yeah, I said that.

Now, he's not my cup of tea, and I won't call him good, let alone great, but I do think some of his tracks are just something harmless that casual people can enjoy, which I can understand. A few of his tracks can be decent at best, and if he hones his musical expertise in his spare time if he wanted, he could turn out to be pretty good. But then again, you could say that to everyone else.

Lastly, he has done some good things in his life. I do know, he's dome some questionable things, but I think people exaggerate on them too much, to the point where they deliberately ignore the fact that Bieber could have probably helped someone or did something that's nice for once.

Honestly, Justin Bieber needs a bit more love. He's average, not that good, but FAR from being a failure.
Yes guys, he has some talent. And now, he's becoming more and more mature and less of an idiot. Give him a chance, guys.

Cliche I know, but treating him like he's the spawn of Satan is so over dramatic. I'm not a fan of his music, but his music doesn't scream heinous it just screams bland.

He songs range from bad to mediocre. His early songs were bad, now he is just mediocre.

5 10 Years 10 Years are an American alternative rock/alternative metal band, formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1999. The band consists of Jesse Hasek, Ryan Johnson, Brian Vodinh, Chad Huff and Matt Wantland.

Who calls them terrible

6 One Direction One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) were a British-Irish pop boy band based in London, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and previously, Zayn Malik until his departure from the band on 25 March 2015. The group signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records after forming and finishing third in the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor in 2010. Propelled to international success by social media, One Direction's four albums, Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home, Midnight Memories and Four topped charts in most major markets, and generated hit singles including "What Makes You Beautiful", "Live While We're Young", and ...read more.
7 Taylor Swift Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is best known for writing personal songs and has won 13 Grammy Awards... read more

Taylor Swift is complicated. Her first three albums are actually good and she does have some good tracks in Red and 1989 as well, alongside an underrated masterpiece single called "Ronan". That being said, Red and 1989, although decent, had tracks that weren't really good. Come a few years later, and we wind up with Reputation. That album was garbage. Its kind of a shame really. Taylor is a capable singer, and it shows from her earlier albums. She can do a lot better than her most recent material, and its kind of disappointing that she may remain in a certain direction.

8 Guns N' Roses Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1985. The classic lineup, as signed to Geffen Records in 1986, consisted of vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. Apart from hard rock they are also associated with heavy metal... read more

I think they are good. Sure, they might have some less good songs, but everything from Appetite For Destruction and most of the Use Your Illusion albums is good. My World sucks though.

Who the hell thinks Guns N' Roses are mediocre? They were an awesome and talented band back in their prime.

I agree they're pretty average to me.

9 Coldplay Coldplay are a British pop rock band formed in 1996. The band consists of Chris Martin (lead vocalist and pianist), Jonny Buckland (lead guitarist), Guy Berryman (bassist) and Will Champion (drummer and backing vocalist). Before making their debut album, they recorded and released three EPs: Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999, and The Blue Room in the same year. The Blue Room was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone. ...read more.

There first 3 albums (parachutes, a rush of blood to the head and X & Y) are legendary, too bad all the other albums are just mediocre.

I have heard only one good album by them. Everything else is just mediocre.

They have some good songs, and I think they were at their best with Scream Aim Fire and Fever, which I consider to be good Metalcore albums. Everything else is honestly teetering on decent and average if you ask me.

I actually think they're good

Again she has some tolerable songs and some songs that are horrible. But I wouldn't call her atrocious by any means, even in her worst albums there's at least one or two decent songs.

13 Drake Aubrey Drake Graham, known professionally as Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor, born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Canada. He started his career on Canadian reality show "Degrassi: The Next Generation".

I will give him this. He's a lot better than anyone in Young Money, but I still wouldn't consider myself a fan.

I mean, his only good song this year was MIA (with Bad Bunny), but his old stuff wasn't that bad.

Not the best rapper that ever lived, but there's definitely worse rappers out there.

14 AC/DC AC/DC are a Australian hard rock band, formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, who continued as members until Malcolm's illness and departure in 2014 . He got hate for one average song that ripped off of Soulja Boy... yikes.

18 The Chainsmokers The Chainsmokers are an American DJ and production duo consisting of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. The EDM-pop duo achieved a breakthrough with their 2014 song "#Selfie", which was a top twenty single in several countries.
19 Rebecca Black Rebecca Black is a YouTube personality and singer who's infamous for her 2011 single "Friday," which was the most disliked video on YouTube until "Baby" by Justin Bieber became the most disliked video in 2012. She has also released other songs, including "My Moment" and "Saturday".

Rebecca Black is actually a capable singer if you look into her more recent works in her discography. She's done some very good collaborations with YouTube singers, particularly with Kurt Hugo Schneider and she can actually make good Pop songs. In short, she's a complete far-cry from what she made back in 2011, and even then, "Friday" isn't really her song at all if you ask me (She had no control, and the writers and producers of that song were the reason why it sucked).

"Friday" was terrible but she has proven to be capable of making quality music after that heinous song.

People hate her.
She was MADE to sing that Friday song, just like animals in testing labs are MADE to be tested on
- TheDuttyGyal

Her other songs are actually not that bad. She didn't write Friday but the songs she wrote were good.

I'll admit, Anaconda and Stupid Hoe were so horrendous, but others of her songs were quite decent.

The 1 thing about her is that she can make some really good content...if she tries, but she almost never does.

21 Lady Gaga Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, known professionally as Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress.

Most of her songs were deep unreleased cuts, due to her having more than 30 songs and 17 were picked. ...read more.

I'm not a fan of her but I have to admit that she has singing talent.

You could argue about their "genericness" or "rip-off," and I won't blame you for that, but I think their songs are still nice to listen to. Better bands out there, but still.
