Most Overhated Music Genres

The Top Ten
1 Pop

I used to bash pop music heavily, but then I realised that a lot of rock bands out there (especially AC/DC and KISS) share very similar flaws.

Not a big fan of it, but there is no way that it's one of the worst genres.

Some pop songs can be really bad; but a lot are masterpieces

2 Country
3 Rap
4 Pop Punk
5 Nu Metal
6 Metalcore

Just because Asking Alexandria and Bring me the Horizon exists does not mean all metalcore is bad
Try As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, and Trivium

No. Metalcore is terrible. It should be called "bloodcore" instead, because that's what comes out of my ears whenever I listen to a metalcore song.

This genre gets more hating than they deserve.

7 Trap
8 Emo Emo is a style of rock music characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C., where it was known as "emotional hardcore" or "emocore" and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace.
9 Deathcore
10 Electronic

Electronic music is very diverse

The Contenders
11 Alternative Metal Alternative metal is a music genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres normally associated with metal.
12 Glam Metal Glam metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, and upbeat rock anthems.

Soaring guitar solos, catchy choruses, talented singers. What's so bad about it again? Oh right, it's not some super heavy growling and screaming bullcrap. Screw the elitists.

I think it's a great genre. The only bad thing is that some of the bands focused more on image than music quality (KISS for example).

Now these songs and bands aren't metal but that Doesn't mean the bands or the music is bad

13 Post Grunge

It's a very good genre and gets so much hate for some reason.

14 Dubstep
15 Grunge Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock and a subculture that emerged during the mid-1980s.

Never seen anyone bash it. It's much more overrated than overhated.

16 Death Metal
17 Mumble Rap
18 Heavy Metal Heavy Metal music is a sub-genre of rock music that originated in the late 1960s-70s, featuring more distorted and heavier instrumental work and darker lyrical themes. Heavy Metal broke into mainstream success with bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Other notable Heavy Metal bands include Judas Priest, Anthrax, Testament, System of a Down, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Avenged... read more

Disliking metal is totally fine. Everybody has their own unique music taste.
But calling it talentless and Satanic is not.
Metal is one of the hardest music genres to make and most bands don't worship Satan.

Metal is really over-hated. I mean lots of people think that metal is only about death or black metal. and it involves only screaming, satanic messages, brutality. BUT there are metal genres like prog metal, power metal, heavy metal, symphonic metal. those aren't very heavy. for me those are chilling metal genres.

Not really. The only people who hate on it are soccer moms and some pop/rap fans.

19 Gospel
20 Black Metal

Another subgenre that's both overrated and overhated.

21 Power Metal
22 Classical
23 Blues Blues is a music genre and musical form originated by African Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the end of the 19th century.
