Some cities get a lot of rain, and some cities even have snow because of how cold it is. Sand storms aren't "too many" either. You get a number you expect from living in a desert. As a person living in Saudi Arabia, I can tell you that it is not THAT extreme at all. It's pretty mild.

Weather in the United States varies wildly from hurricanes to dust storms to blizzards, but the fact is our country has the most extreme weather in the world because of the vastness of the US. The UK should be nowhere on this list they only get rain and some snow here and there none of their weather is known to kill people unlike the US and Russia's extremely cold blizzards and winters that can freeze you to death.
