The food is great and the locals are the most friendly in the world, genuine and ready to help you, it's absolutely a safe country. I recomend Bali of course (included Gili's, Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan), Flores (Pulau Padar, Komodo Island, Pink Beach, Waerebo Village), Sumba, Raja Ampat Papua, Yogjakarta for the temples, Sulawesi, Sumatra and the 1000 islands north of Jakarta. But the capital Jakarta is terrible, crazy traffic everyday, absolutely need a MRT.

You get the serenity of offshore islands within 30 mins from the hustle and bustle of a metropolitan city center. Very efficient transport infrastructure and relatively cheap too. Great variety of food from Chinese to Indian, Malay to Western at multiple price points. Lots of international and local events and activities for the individual traveller and family. Small but interesting country. Worth visiting more than once. Oh yes and Singlish is cute and interesting though I don't get most of it!
Singapore has a multicultural and cosmopolitan environment compared to most of Asia. Proficient English skills with a good mix of Malay, Indian, Chinese speakers. Very safe country with friendly people. Pace of life is fast but still comfortable, unlike Hong Kong which is very fast and stressful or Malaysia which is too laid back and boring.
Shopping, food, architecture, skyline, good mix of urbanisation with nature, polite, honest and friendly people and culture.Good balance of everything all in one convenient place. Great place to visit and live though weather is warm and hot all year round.

Taipei however, can be a little boring and mundane. Taiwanese people are very friendly and honey though. Taiwan needs and can do a lot more to catch up with other major Asian cities like Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Laid back yet interesting night markets where you get lots of delicious hawker food late into the night. Very friendly people. Nice hiking tracks and nature. Unfortunately, there's not much attractions hence not much to do in the city.
