Listen to ozzy's voice makes me wanna puke its not beautiful its not pitched its not strong it has not anything. But listen to ronnie james dio's voice it so perfect you want to cry
Listen to the song solitude by Black Sabbath then you might change your mind - Sabbath
He literally guest stared on a couple of Disney Channel shows. If that's not selling out then I don't know what is.
Ronnie James Dio is a better vocalist, but Ozzy's style fit Black Sabbath more. I think so, anyway. - Metarock

I'm not a fan of his vocal style. As if he's trying to act hard and tough. - IronSabbathPriest
Corey Taylor is one of few people on this list who deserves the attention and respect they receive. He's one of the best vocalists over the past 20 years.
My favorite singer, and an extremely versatile one at that as well. I do think Corey is a Metal singer, though I do understand why some people dislike him or call him overrated. - CrimsonShark
This guy is most overrated. People give him too much credit and worship everything he does. Lame

7 Phil Anselmo
Philip Hansen "Phil" Anselmo is an American musician who is best known as the former lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Pantera. He currently is the vocalist of heavy metal bands Down and Superjoint Ritual.
Not sure if this pathetic wannabe-tough-guy loser actually thinks he can sing, or if he's aware that he sucks and is just in it for the money. He basically got famous because the guitar guy in Pantera got shot
Phil Anselmo is a racist. He's only famous because he was in Pantera. Not a good vocalist
I liked his vocals in Cemetery Gates, but outside of that, eh... - Metarock
I love his vocals! - ryanrimmel

Amazing vocalist and guaranteed to be timeless in the upcoming years, but he himself admitted that Linkin Park is not Metal. Also, his voice gravitates towards Rock, Punk, Alternative and Grunge instead. - CrimsonShark
I don't think he sings metal so why pay attention to him. - Metal_Treasure
Yup. - Disasterpiece
Wouldn’t say he’s terrible, but his style is barely metal and he just is overrated.
10 David Draiman
David Michael Draiman is an American songwriter and the vocalist for the band Disturbed as well as for the band Device.
He has a good voice, but when he does those unnecessary "AH AH AHS" in the middle of verses it brings his music down. I like Disturbed though - ryanrimmel

Should be higher.
12 Benjamin Burnley
Benjamin Jackson Burnley IV is an American musician, composer, and producer, best known as the founder and frontman of the American rock band Breaking Benjamin.
Go see him at #5 on the list "Top Metal Singers". His singing style isn't even metal. By the way, do you think he sings metal? I don't. That's called overrated. - Metal_Treasure
Breaking Ben is one of my favorite bands, and he sounds great on the record, but if you look up videos of them live, his voice is HORRIFIC
13 Mitch Lucker
Mitchell Adam "Mitch" Lucker was an American musician and lead singer for the deathcore band Suicide Silence.
Compared to artists like Prince and Ray Charles (different genres but same principle), Mitch had made almost zero impact in the music industry, even after his untimely death. Not only did he have extremely limited vocal range, his lows were horrible unless he was cupping the mic, especially during live performances.
Definitely overrated nowadays by scene kids due to his death. His death was unfortunate, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a godawful vocalist with zero skill or technique.
Metalcore is the only bad type of metal I know about. - emilk

I like Children of Bodom, but I'm not a fan of the monotone vocals of melodic death metal bands. Either sing properly or if you're going to growl, growl with some aggressive music. Enough said. - IronSabbathPriest

22 Tom Araya
Tomás Enrique "Tom" Araya Díaz is a Chilean American musician, best known as the bassist and vocalist of the American thrash metal band Slayer.
In most of Slayer's songs he sounds like he's fast talking and that's why I like only a few of Slayer's songs. - Delata
Honestly, I don't see how Slayer or Tom is in any way overrated. James Hatfield & Dave Mustaine are twice as overrated if you ask me. - ViitalShadow
23 Bruce Dickinson
Paul Bruce Dickinson, known professionally as Bruce Dickinson, is an English musician, airline pilot, and broadcaster. He is most well known for being the lead singer in heavy metal band Iron Maiden and his solo career.
Bruce is talented, but he can't beat Ronnie Dio, Rob Halford, and King Diamond.
Don't get me wrong, he's a great vocalist. But to be honest, I'm astonished at how many people think he's the "greatest metal vocalist of all time." I disagree, and I think there are a lot of other good metal vocalists that deserve more attention than him - Shake_n_Bake13
So overrated. Corey Taylor and Howard Jones are way better
He sounds like a donkey in mating season, Diano was way better

He's not overrated.
31 James LaBrie
Kevin James LaBrie is a Canadian vocalist and songwriter, who is best known as the lead singer of the American progressive metal band Dream Theater.
He's both underrated and overrated. Outside the metal world he's underrated, but he's getting overrated compared to singers within metal. He's currently #17 on the list of top metal singers where he's above more better singers than him. Not saying he's a bad singer or anything, it's just there are far better metal singers than him.
Per Yngve Ohlin, better known by his stage name Dead, was a Swedish black/death metal vocalist and lyricist best known for his work with Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. He committed suicide in 1991 in which former guitarist Euronymous took a few pictures of his corpse and used one of them as the ...read more.
I know a lot of metalheads like Mayhem, but they only had a few obscure EXTREMELY lo-fi demos with Dead. The main reason he's loved is for his supposed crazy live stunts, which most metalheads had probably never seen. Dead was great, but people need to stop saying he was the best metal vocalist just because everyone else does.
His forehead is practically a seven-head at this point. - IronSabbathPriest

I hate Glen Benton because he's one of the most pretentious and confrontational musicians to come across in any genre, let alone Metal. His personality is also what makes Deicide a terrible band to begin with and his vocals, while not the worst, are still subpar and underwhelming at best.
Also, move on Glen. Hating God and Christianity is NOT going to get you anywhere in life. - CrimsonShark
Has been hating on God for over 30-something years now. Seriously how is this guy even alive at this point (and this is coming from a non-Christian)?
