Top 10 Hardest Pokemon Battles in Pokemon Games

The Top Ten
Ghetsis (Pokemon Black/White) Ghetsis Harmonia, or simply Ghetsis, is the main antagonist in Pokemon Black and White and the direct sequels, as well as the adoptive father of N, Concordia, and Athea.

Honestly, battling him for the first time was pretty terrifying. Pretty much every other Pokemon player felt that way too. He is an overdramatic, flamboyant villain, similar to Ghirahim from Zelda: Skyward Sword, and I love it so much. I would imagine Meat Loaf voicing him because he's so dramatic.

The fight itself is extremely hard, even if you have Pokemon that are strong against Dragon and Ghost types. He is such an amazing villain, and he is basically the Lord Comstock of the Pokemon franchise.

Cynthia (Pokemon DPPT/BDSP)

I agree. I had many tries to beat her, and I failed multiple times. Luckily, I noticed I had a TM that I used on Empoleon, and that was Ice Beam. I guess water types really do help you win and progress through the game.

You better have a good team composition. At least all Pokemon should be level 65-70, and pray she doesn't use all of her Max Potions on her damn Garchomp.

Have fun with that Milotic... One of the hardest champions and trainers of all time, with a decent moveset for an NPC.

It took me half an hour to beat her. She is the most difficult champion I have ever faced, but also the best.

Ultra Necrozma (Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon)

The only 7 ways to probably defeat it:

1. FEAR Pokemon. Just google it, it basically means cheating in competitive.
2. Zoroark strategy, where it disguises as a fighting type.
3. Focus Sash something as it uses a powerful move.
4. Focus Sash, then Mirror Coat.
5. Focus Sash, then Destiny Bond.
6. Be overleveled.
7. Have an Aegislash and check out this Poketuber named aDrive. He beat the crap out of Necrozma, and we laughed and cried watching how easy he made it look.

1. He's level 60. Your team will probably be level 38-50.
2. All his moves do more than 100 damage.
3. Even with Graveler or Incineroar, he'll find a one-shot or super-effective move.
4. Photon Geyser.
5. YOU can't CATCH HIM.

I honestly only beat him because of my event shiny Dialga.

Greevil (Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness)

Greevil is, without a doubt, the hardest battle in Pokemon history. His entire team consists of Shadow Pokemon. Good luck, because you're going to need it!

This guy deserves to be number one! I really like this battle, but it is without a doubt the hardest battle in all of Pokemon!

Good luck catching three legendary Pokémon in one go.

Professor Kukui (Pokemon Sun and Moon) Professor Kukui is a fictional character introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. He is a Pokémon Professor from the Alola region, as well as the founder of Alola's Pokémon League.

He's got a powerful team, and it took me multiple tries to beat him. And for those who say he's easy for a champion, he isn't even a champion! He's just a normal professor who thinks it's too easy to just beat the Elite Four.

I beat the rest of the Elite Four on my first try, but I had to redo Kukui like 3-6 times!

Kukui isn't as hard as everybody claims, but he ain't a pushover, that's for sure, lol.

Also, am I the only one who experiences this: he only uses Full Restore once or twice throughout the entire battle. Then he sends out his final Pokemon, Magnezone, and spams the crap out of healing items.

Trainer Red (Pokemon GSC/HGSS/Sun and Moon)

I was in the lower seventies but still managed. His sets were terrible. I would have curbstomped him had it not been for the level difference, to be honest. I only barely won because of the level difference in my opinion.

Evice (Pokemon Colosseum)
Anabel (Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Sun and Moon)

Build a team just for this or spam healing items like crazy. And oh yeah, save before you fight her.

Kecleon (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon)

This thing is almost invincible to any of my Pokemon. Just screw Kecleon. Can't they just make it so that if you have no money and try to take an item from Kecleon shops, he gives it to you for free?

Then again, this thing is simply one word: UNFAIR!

It's like the shopkeepers from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. You steal from them, and they murder you. Justice prevails, I guess.

Pokemon's version of the fight with Sans the Skeleton. Get dunked on!

Hapu (Pokemon Sun and Moon)

Her dang Mudsdale and its Stamina ability. Also, High Horsepower.

The Newcomers

? Volo (Pokemon Legends: Arceus)

Having to battle a 6 vs 8, with or without prep, is brutal, and you'll probably get knocked down. Not only do you face Cynthia's Platinum team (excluding Milotic), but you also have to battle two forms of Giratina. Some of your Pokemon might not even get a turn due to the battle system.

The Contenders
Whitney (Pokemon GSC and HGSS)

This fight isn't even hard, bro. I beat Whitney on my first try without any healing items, using only a Quagsire.

Lusamine (Pokemon Sun and Moon) Lusamine is a fictional character introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. She is the head of the Aether Foundation.

God, her Mother Beast form is overpowered! I wasn't able to take down that Clefable until it used Metronome and got Self-Destruct on itself! But it was kind of funny when that Self-Destruct missed my Alolan Raichu due to the bonds I've built with it as a Trainer.

That Clefable though... I get mad just thinking about it.

I'm going to use a Clefable with the same moveset as Lusamine's against my brother just to piss him off. He'll hate me for it, but it'll be worth it.

Also, Cosmic Power is officially my least favorite move. And did I mention my luck is bad? So when it used Metronome, you can imagine how well I took it.

Eldes (Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness)
Totem Mimikyu (Pokemon Sun and Moon)

Aside from Mimikyu being hard to take down, I find it hilarious that people used their Z-move on the first turn to try and one-shot it, only to realize that Mimikyu has the Disguise ability.

Sadly, I was dumb enough to use my Z-move on the first turn. Still beat it on my first try though. Seriously? How is this even hard?

Ardos (Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness)
Lucian (Pokemon DDPt)

Hardest Elite Four member to ever exist, in my opinion. Period.

Clair (Pokemon GSC and HGSS)

You want to hear my hatred for this battle in one single word? "Kingdra."

She makes Whitney look like a piece of cake by comparison.

Norman (Pokemon Emerald)

That Slaking. Oh my gosh, that Slaking.

May (Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire) May is a female companion to Ash in the generation 3 anime. She was also the female character in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire. May (anime) debuted in the 275th episode, "Get the Show on the Road!" She was going to be a trainer, but wasn't excited about it. After meeting a... read more

Ugh, I had to lose to her, even after trying so hard to defeat her! I tried! Not counting the 3DS remake (because she's easier to beat, which I LIKE!). I hate her a LOT for several reasons! Oh well.

Jaun (Pokemon Emerald)

His Kingdra is even worse than Clair's!

Lenora (Pokemon Black and White)
Steven (Pokemon RSE)

I did find difficulty with him in ORAS, to be honest. But in Emerald, he was insanely hard though, lol. Never played the original Ruby and Sapphire though, lol.

Harder in the remakes because his Metagross can Mega Evolve.

Lance (Pokemon GSC and HGSS)

Lance is only hard if you are new to Pokemon and are not sure what you are doing, which was the case for a lot of kids back in Gen 2 when it was still new. With experience, his difficulty is lacking.

Lt. Surge (Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green) Lt. Surge is a fictional character in the Pokémon series and the Gym Leader of Vermillion City who specializes in electric type Pokémon, in the anime he's extremely arrogant, aggressive and refers to other trainers as babies for not meeting his qualities his main Pokémon is Raichu who he evolved... read more
