Charizard
Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon, is a Pokémon species created by Ken Sugimori. It first appeared in the video games Pokémon Red and Blue and has since appeared in merchandise, spinoff titles, and various adaptations. Shin-ichiro Miki, who voices James in the original Japanese anime, also voices... read more
I love Charizard. No, he's not the best Pokémon, but he's still very good. He is very weak to rock types but can also take down Grass, Steel, Bug, Ice, Fighting, Dragon (with Dragon Claw), Poison, and Electric (with Earthquake) types with relative ease.
His move pool hasn't always been great but has gotten significantly better over the years. He has access to two great mega evolutions. Finally, and probably the main overall reason for his popularity, he was the first Pokémon for many players such as myself. And also, he just looks awesome.
I totally agree with anyone who thinks Charizard's the best! Who agrees with me that Charizard is way better than Blastoise? In other words, who thinks Blastoise stinks?!

Mewtwo
Mewtwo is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it first appeared in Pokémon Red and Blue in 1996.
Created by Dr. Fuji through gene splicing to clone Mew, Mewtwo is known in game lore as one of the most powerful Pokémon. In later games, it can undergo Mega Evolution into... read more
Mewtwo. The Pokémon created by the most brutal gene-splicing known to man. Or Pokémon, for that matter. My personal second favorite Legendary, right behind Giratina. Pokémon: The First Movie only made me love the genetically designed psychic cat-human more. Mewtwo also has the best backstory by far.
People complain Mewtwo is too violent. How about I murder your best friend in front of you, introduce you to the fact that you, to the people who created you, are nothing but an experiment, a disposable tool, befriend you under false circumstances, then betray you and try to use you as a slave. I'd like to see just how even-tempered you are then.
Mewtwo is love. Mewtwo is life.

Pikachu
Pikachu (Japanese: ピカチュウ) is a species of Pokémon that appears in video games, animated television shows and movies, trading card games, and comic books licensed by The Pokémon Company. It is the mascot of the Pokémon franchise and is widely considered the most iconic Pokémon. Pikachu is well known for... read more
Pikachu is super strong and is Ash's partner, who is powerful enough to knock out the champion Leon, defeat Tapu Koko (an island guardian from Alola), and more.
It's also an Electric-type, which really is strong.
Pikachu is awesome. He should be number 1. Without him, Pokemon would have never become popular.
The first thing everyone thinks of, other than the Pokeball, is the cute, furry, little, awesome, fluffy creature. He is the reason I do Pokemon. And I have a Mega Blastoise EX, for crying out loud. I am the Poke-Idol at my camp. I have a tin full of EXs, rare cards, Megas, and two full arts.

Arceus
Arceus is a Legendary Pokémon that first appeared in the 18th Pokémon movie, "Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life," where it was featured alongside other Legendary Pokémon. In the Pokémon universe, Arceus is referred to as "The Original One" and is believed to have created the entire Pokémon world... read more
Lo, the forsaken, the God of Pokemon. Arceus's limitless power is far greater than these pathetic attempts at greatness. Remember - while humans have created Pokemon, it was only because Arceus wished it.
Arceus is the reason we humans and Pokemon are here in the first place. Each blade of grass in the wind, every stone upturned, and every Pokeball thrown was by Arceus's grand design. I would advise you not to trifle with the God of Pokemon.
Arceus is the god of Pokemon. He created all Pokemon (except Mewtwo) and both Pokemon Trios: the Creation Trio (Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina) as well as the Weather Trio (Rayquaza, Kyogre, and Groudon). He can also change his type. He has more than 1,000 forms and can copy any technique using Judgement.

Primarina
Primarina is a Water and Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII, specifically in Pokémon Sun and Moon (2016). It evolves from Brionne, which itself evolves from Popplio. Primarina's singing-based battle style is characterized by sea lion-inspired fluid movements. It has appeared in the animated... read more
I really have no words for Primarina. Sure, Popplio and Brionne are underrated just because their noses apparently make them look like clowns. However, their noses will not blunt my love for this line.
Even though Primarina is slow, it more than makes up for that in the Alola games.
Seal fairy? Mermaid angel? Pokémon beauty? Primarina is just too beautiful to ignore. Though for starters, Rowlet is so much cuter than Popplio, it evolves into Decidueye, which isn't very nice-looking. That's why I'd choose Popplio as a starter.
-
Rayquaza
Rayquaza (pronounced "ray-quay-zah") is a Dragon/Flying-type Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It serves as the mascot for the game Pokémon Emerald. Rayquaza can Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza if it knows the move Dragon Ascent and is not holding a Z-Crystal. According... read more
Rayquaza is a legendary Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon known for its awe-inspiring presence and immense power. With its serpentine body, vibrant green coloration, and majestic wings that span the sky, Rayquaza is a true marvel to behold. Legends speak of its ability to soar through the ozone layer and control the ferocious weather patterns, making it a guardian of the skies.
Rayquaza's signature move, Dragon Ascent, showcases its formidable strength as it unleashes a devastating attack on its foes. This ancient Pokémon's importance is highlighted by its role in the Hoenn region's lore, where it quelled the epic battles between Kyogre and Groudon. Rayquaza's incredible might and mythical aura make it a captivating figure in the world of Pokémon, capturing the imagination of trainers and researchers alike.

Mew
Mew is a Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon designed by Satoshi Tajiri. It was introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue and is notable for its ability to learn nearly every move in the games, with the exception of certain signature moves. Mew can also transform into other Pokémon using the move Transform.
Technically, Mew and Arceus are possibly the first two Pokemon in existence. Arceus did create the Pokemon world. However, Mew has the DNA of all Pokemon, and in the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Pokedex, it is stated that it is possibly the ancestor of all Pokemon.
This also suggests that it could have played a role in creating all Pokemon, alongside Arceus. This is due to Mew's ability to transform and use any move in the games, with the exceptions of Draco Meteor and Secret Sword. In the actual world, however, it may be possible for it to use every move we know of today.
I love Mew! It's a very mischievous yet whimsical creature. I think the fact that my user has Mew in it says it all.
-
Eevee
Eevee, known in Japan as Eievui, was first introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue. It is known as the Evolution Pokémon and has more evolutionary forms than any other species. Eevee can evolve into Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon depending on factors such as elemental... read more
I like how many varieties and options you get with Eevee and its evolutions. However, I always feel bad for evolving it because it looks so cute, and I can never decide if I made the right evolution choice. "Just catch another one," that's what people may think or say, but it's still hard to decide. I know Eevee is mostly popular for its many evolutions, but Eevee itself is still very special, evolved or not.
Eevee is a really cool Pokémon that can evolve into different Pokémon depending on your strategy. For example, if you need a Psychic type to beat your friend, evolve it into Espeon!
-
Greninja
Greninja is a Water/Dark-type Pokémon introduced in Generation 6. It evolves from Frogadier and is the final evolution of the Water-type starter Froakie. In addition to the standard Torrent ability shared by Water-type starters, Greninja can have the Protean ability, which changes its type to match the... read more
Great speed and one of the best abilities in the game, Protean, turns this Pokémon into a wrecking ball. It's able to wreak havoc on any unprepared team.
I don't know what made me absolutely obsessed with Greninja, but it happened. Now it's my favorite.
He's super strong and has a lot of agility. He can be one of the most loyal Pokemon.
-
Lucario
Lucario was created by Ken Sugimori and first appeared as a central character in the film Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. It was later introduced in the main series games with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Lucario has since appeared in numerous sequels, spinoff titles, and a wide range of merchandise... read more
Lucario should be ranked first. He has an awesome movepool and can take many hits. He is part steel, so he has high defense and is resistant to many types.
He also has great attack power and special attack power.
DarkLord is right. Lucario shouldn't be way down here. Legendaries are rare and powerful. Has anyone ever heard of training? He can crush Arceus.
Aura doesn't have a type, therefore aura can kill him. He battles Mewtwo a lot. And guess who wins... Lucario.

?
Yamper
Yamper is super cute and also loyal to people like Chloe.

Great Tusk
Great Tusk is a much better version of Donphan, and Iron Treads just sucks. All robot Pokémon aren't really my style. It's like they HAD to ruin Pokémon, but it's still fine for now.
-
Lugia
Lugia, known in Japan as Rugia, is a Legendary Psychic and Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It serves as the mascot for Pokémon Silver and is considered the master of the three Legendary Birds. Lugia resides deep in the sea and is known to calm storms.... read more
Anyone who believes in Christianity definitely would love the Tower Duo, which is Lugia and Ho-Oh. Lugia creating 40-day storms represents the 40-day storm that happened during Noah's time, and Ho-Oh represents the rainbow after. Amazing Pokémon.
Lugia stays underwater most of the time because he is so powerful. It is said that an offensive flap of his wings can cause a hurricane that may last for 40 days. Not to mention, he is one of the most beautiful Pokémon around.
He is powerful, but you don't know one thing: it isn't a Water/Flying type. It's actually a Psychic/Flying type. Aren't you surprised?
Well, I don't think so because the one who has caught Lugia in FRLG (Fire Red/Leaf Green) knows this. For those of you who don't know how to catch Lugia and Ho-Oh in FRLG,

Dragonite
Dragonite, known in Japan as Kairyu, is a Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon introduced in the first-generation games Pokémon Red and Blue. It evolves from Dragonair starting at level 55 and is the final form of Dratini. Dragonite is known for its kindness, intelligence, and powerful presence in battle.
Dragonite is a great Pokemon. It has the second highest base stat total of all non-legendary Pokemon, second only to Slaking. However, considering Slaking's terrible ability, Truant, which doesn't allow him to attack twice in a row, Dragonite can safely be considered the better Pokemon.
Dragonite boasts an excellent move pool, including attacks such as Dragon Dance, Outrage, Thunder, Earthquake, Surf, Fire Blast, Aerial Ace, Focus Blast, and Rock Slide, accessible via TM and leveling. Through tutoring and egg moves, it can learn Ominous Wind, Draco Meteor, Aqua Tail, Heat Wave, Iron Head, Superpower, and Dragon Rush. Pretty amazing.
The absolute best non-legendary. With the right moveset, he can take down any Pokémon except Ice and certain Dragons! A must-have for a powerful team!
-
Blastoise
Blastoise, known in Japan as Kamex, is a Water-type Pokémon and the final evolution of Squirtle. It evolves from Wartortle and is known for the powerful water cannons mounted on its shell. Blastoise is capable of shooting water with enough force to punch holes through steel.
Great Pokémon. May not have the best-designed mega and definitely isn't in the top 20 most powerful Pokémon. But in my opinion, he is the best.
At least I don't excessively hype Charizard like a nostalgia-blinded fanboy.
I think that Blastoise should be #6 because he is strong, powerful, slick, and really good at defense. Overall, he is a great Pokemon.
My favorite starter was always Squirtle, but I like Blastoise better. Strong, Mega, and can destroy steel with ease. Look it up.
-
Gengar
Gengar, known in Japan by the same name, is a dual-type Ghost and Poison Pokémon. It evolves from Haunter when traded and is the final evolution of Gastly. Gengar is recognized for its mischievous nature and its strong special attack capabilities.
I've got to admit, I want it to be the best Pokemon ever for everyone, but I get why it won't be. If I were to choose the top ten, it would be my favorite.
Gengar is so underrated! He is awesome! He shoots shadow balls, has an evil grin, and is just like a purple porcupine.
Mischievous shadow ghost that'll also shove three shots of poison down your throat. What more is there to say?
-
Darkrai
Darkrai, known by the same name in Japan, is a Dark-type Legendary Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It is known for its signature ability to induce nightmares in others. Darkrai was also featured in the movie Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai, where it played a central role.
I love Darkrai. He's the only Pokemon who can give bad dreams, and he has a great movepool like Double Team, Nasty Plot, Dream Eater, Dark Pulse, Quick Attack, and Nightmare. But the main reason I love Darkrai is because of his role in the anime.
In the 10th movie, The Rise of Darkrai, he was considered evil by everyone in Alamos Town. Earlier in time, Darkrai suffered from injuries, probably caused by Pokemon who thought he was a threat. So, Alice's grandmother saw what happened and helped the poor thing.
When Dialga and Palkia started brawling near Alamos Town, the entire elements of space and time were starting to evaporate. Darkrai decided to save Alamos Town and his only friend. He guarded the town with his life by trying to stop Dialga and Palkia from ruining everything. Initially, Dialga and Palkia were fighting each other, but later in the fight, they started fighting together. Darkrai still fought on. However, he was destroyed when Roar of Time and Spacial Rend both hit him. He sacrificed himself to save the universe.
He is the definitive proof that Pokemon can have feelings, integrity, and even a human spirit. That's why Darkrai is my favorite. It's not because he's a Legendary. It's because he's a hero. He's my hero.

Squirtle
Squirtle, known as Zenigame in Japan, is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It resembles a hybrid between a squirrel and a turtle and was created by Game Freak's character design team. It is one of the original starter Pokémon available to players in the early games.... read more
I don't usually leave comments on this site, but Squirtle deserves it. If you don't think he is in the top 3, then you are biased.
Squirtle is just so cute and reminds me of my pet terrapin!
Protects itself with Hydro Pump.
-
Snorlax
Snorlax, known in Japan as Kabigon, was introduced in Generation I and evolves from Munchlax when leveled up with high friendship. It is a Normal-type Pokémon known for its massive size, high HP, and tendency to sleep in inconvenient locations. In many games, Snorlax must be awakened to progress through... read more
Charizard? Seriously? You're kidding me! He's one of the weakest starters out there. Charizard gets a free pass for number 1 just because of nostalgia? What about Snorlax? I don't see Genwunners worshipping this guy. He deserves it - he can actually be used in battle and take some hits. High HP, Attack, and Special Defense. He doesn't need Special Attack, HP makes up for Defense, and low Speed - what were you expecting?
Snorlax has charm, in my opinion, because of how funny he is and his concept of living a life only eating a lot and sleeping for a long time. Snorlax has only one weakness, and he has strength to spare. So could somebody tell me what Charizard is so good for? I've never played Red and Blue, and I already think Snorlax is amazing.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to deal with a mob of immature Genwunners outside my front door, so... See you.
-
Oshawott
Oshawott, known in Japan as Mijumaru, is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It evolves into Dewott starting at level 17 and then into Samurott starting at level 36. Oshawott is known for using the shell on its belly, called a scalchop, as a weapon in battle.
Adorable little thing. He evolves into the coolest Black and White starter.
-
Charmander
Charmander, known as Hitokage in Japan, was introduced in the original Pokémon Red and Blue games. It is a Fire-type starter Pokémon that evolves into Charmeleon at level 16, which then evolves into Charizard at level 36. Charmander has a flame burning at the tip of its tail, which is said to reflect... read more
He's such a cutie and evolves into a beast!
-
Reshiram
Reshiram, known in Japan by the same name, is a Dragon and Fire-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It first appeared in Pokémon Black and White, released in 2010. Reshiram is part of the Tao Trio, along with Zekrom and Kyurem.
How could all these Pokemon be higher than Reshiram? Besides Rayquaza, every Pokemon higher than Reshiram on this list can't even reach the Standard Tier of play! This is a list of the BEST Pokemon, not the cutest or most iconic, so actually vote for your BEST Pokemon, okay? I mean, having Pikachu higher than Reshiram is just messed up, honestly!
I've always liked the Tao Trio, and Reshiram has always been my favorite of those 3. If I could fly around the world on 1 Pokémon, it would be Reshiram, hands down.
-
Palkia
Palkia, known in Japan by the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species that debuted in the 2006 games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It represents space and serves as the mascot for Pokémon Pearl. Palkia is part of the creation trio with Dialga and Giratina and is associated with spatial manipulation.
Palkia controls space as number two of the Creation Trio. He can create rifts in time and basically teleport himself or other Pokémon to his desired location.
He is a tremendous legendary who has water as a type. To me, that is just amazing.
The list is not complete without him.
-
Piplup
Piplup, known in Japan as Pochama, is a Water-type Pokémon first introduced in Generation IV. It evolves into Prinplup at level 16 and then into Empoleon at level 36. My very first Pokemon I got in my very first game. I couldn't leave this one out of the top 10.
-
Umbreon
Umbreon, known in Japan as Blacky, is a Dark-type evolution of Eevee, introduced in Generation II. Umbreon evolves when Eevee gains a high friendship level during the nighttime.
I love Umbreon! He's so awesome! True, it is outclassed by Espeon in the offense department, but it is a great supporter!
Vote for Umbreon!
Umbreon is the only acceptable evolution that isn't a sin that will send you directly to Giratina's realm for all eternity.
Umbreon is only the BEST Eevee evolution! He's powerful, and at the same time, adorable. Hands down, my favorite!
-
Sceptile
Sceptile, known in Japan as Jukain, is a Grass-type Pokémon. It evolves from Grovyle and is the final form of Treecko, which is one of the starter Pokémon from the third-generation games. Sceptile also has a Mega Evolution and appears in video games, anime, and trading cards.
Best Pokemon ever. Not only is he super kick-ass, but he also loves nature and is chill. I could vibe with this boy all day.
I LOVE SCEPTILE!
This is one of the best starter evolutions in existence. How is this #39 instead of in the top 10?
It is my favorite Pokemon of all time! It was my first true Pokemon and my first shiny starter! I love this Pokemon.
-
