Top 10 Strongest Legendary Pokemon Based on Lore

No pulling from stats here. A lot of this is based mostly on logic, Pokédex entries, and similar sources.

This list doesn't rank how useful each Pokémon is in battle. It ranks them based on lore. If you want to base it on stats, there's probably a list out there for you.

The Top Ten
  1. Zygarde

Zygarde, known in Japan by the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species. Introduced in Generation VI, it is a Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon. Zygarde has multiple forms, including 10% Forme, 50% Forme, and Complete Forme, which it uses to monitor and maintain the balance of the ecosystem.

Being the Order Pokemon, it is clearly strong on its own. In its 10% forme, it is not super strong, but it is mentioned that it goes faster than 60 mph and can destroy its opponents with its fangs. In its 50% forme, it can rival Xerneas and Yveltal. I mean, that is tough. In its 100% forme, it can definitely beat them, and the Pokedex states that "From the orifice on its chest, it radiates high-powered energy that eliminates everything" (Bulbapedia, Ultra Sun Pokedex). And when it Mega Evolves? I think we all know it is ridiculously powerful when it defeated Ange and saved all of Kalos from danger, but in case we are not taking that into consideration, its Legends: Z-A Pokedex claims it has unmatched power. Clearly, Zygarde is a very powerful Pokemon.

I don't know why the admin decided to move it up to number 1, as I had it down for 2, but I guess that is okay. Just know it wasn't my fault.

  2. Arceus

Okay, this is pretty straightforward. It's the Pokémon god and literally created all Pokémon. It can pacify Palkia and Dialga, even though they are fighting constantly. I mean, it's the boss. It was born before the world existed and created it itself.

Ehhh, IDK why it fell down to #2. I guess there was a mistake. I meant to put it first. I mean, it's literally the god of Pokémon.

  3. Giratina

Giratina is a Legendary Pokémon that first appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It became the mascot of Pokémon Platinum, where it plays a central role in the game's story. Giratina is associated with the Distortion World and was banished there for its violent behavior.

I almost forgot about this guy, but he's deadly as well. He controls antimatter and rules the Distortion World. I'm pretty sure he can't be pacified by Palkia and Dialga's Red Chains.

Besides, what about the Pokémon Legends: Arceus Pokédex? "There is one Hisuian verse that tells of a powerful light creating a deep shadow. I imagine that this deep shadow is Giratina" (Bulbapedia, Pokémon Legends: Arceus). Arceus is a powerful light, perhaps even the powerful light in Hisui. Therefore, he's the terrifying opposite of Arceus.

  4. Dialga

It can do what Palkia does, but with time too. When it fights with Palkia, bad things happen. That's for sure. I mean, Arceus has to intervene.

  5. Necrozma

I think that if you have the power to absorb Solgaleo or Lunala, you're pretty terrifying. It literally controls them in Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings form. Honestly, the fact that it can take them on at the same time makes it stronger than them. Necrozma is deadly. Let's just leave it at that.

  6. Yveltal

Yveltal is a fictional creature in the Pokémon franchise. Introduced in the sixth generation, Yveltal is a legendary Dark and Flying-type Pokémon and the mascot of Pokémon Y. It is known as the Destruction Pokémon.

Yveltal can absorb life energy, and when it reaches the end of its life, it draws... read more

It can literally open its wings and suck the life out of all living beings. I mean, if that's not terrifying, I don't know what is.

  7. Xerneas

Xerneas is a legendary Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It is the mascot of Pokémon X and is classified as the Life Pokémon.

Xerneas can share eternal life, a power it uses when the horns on its head shine in seven colors. When its life comes to an end, it releases life energy to... read more

It can literally bestow everlasting life on others. That's definitely something crazy.

  8. Palkia

Palkia, known in Japan by the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species that debuted in the 2006 games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It represents space and serves as the mascot for Pokémon Pearl. Palkia is part of the creation trio with Dialga and Giratina and is associated with spatial manipulation.

It can literally create holes in space and travel to other dimensions. When it fights with Dialga, things go bad for sure. I mean, I once saw Arceus have to intervene in an episode of the anime.

  9. Terapagos

Alright, alright, this is here because I've heard people insist that Terapagos is the third-strongest Pokémon. Umm, what I know here is literally all from Bulbapedia.

We know that it definitely lived past its ancestors, as it's the only member left of its species. It literally created Terastalization and stuff. It's definitely strong in a ton of ways and was able to protect itself all this time. I think that's a feat of its own.

Is this a stretch to put it above Solgaleo and Lunala? Probably. But let's maybe add them.

  10. Mewtwo

Mewtwo is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it first appeared in Pokémon Red and Blue in 1996.

Created by Dr. Fuji through gene splicing to clone Mew, Mewtwo is known in game lore as one of the most powerful Pokémon. In later games, it can undergo Mega Evolution into... read more

Maybe it's a stretch putting it on the list and then not putting Solgaleo or Lunala on, but I feel like people will get mad at me if I don't put it on the list at all. It's powerful. I'll admit that. It's just terribly inconsistent!

  11. The Contenders
  12. Cosmog

Cosmog is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It evolves into Cosmoem and then into either Solgaleo or Lunala depending on the game version. Cosmog is best known as Lillie's companion Pokémon, nicknamed Nebby, in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
