Reasons Why Most Pro Athletes Aren't Overpaid
This list rules out my other list titled "Top 10 Most Overpaid Athletes In Sport".The Top Ten
1 Because they have earned it through the money they generate for their sports and leagues
It's true. Take last year's Mayweather v McGregor boxing match for example. People thought it was extravagent for them to be paid over $180 million USD each, and it was, but the money the hosts would have earnt through promotion and sales would've been more.
2 Because the people who pay them earn more
This point alone is enough for a debate.
3 Because they work hard for their salary
4 Because they do what most others cannot
5 Because being an elite athlete is a very respected profession
6 Because they are important role models
Not only for young people and fans but for their peers also.
7 Because their careers span a shorter time period than other careers
I realise this statement can actually work backwards as they work less for money but sports is usually all these athletes know so the salary from their athletic career is what they will live off post-career.
8 Because pro athletes don't know when their athletic career is going to finish
9 Because for most of them playing at a high level doesn't come naturally
10 Because they are prone to injuries
