Top Ten Songs that Were Number One on the Austrian Ö3 Charts on August 22nd Since 1996

I was born on August 22nd, 1996. So I thought it would be interesting to look what was THE hit song in my area whenever I had birthday. Of course, I didn't actively listen to music until I was a couple of years old, but nevertheless, the results aren't really surprising to me.
Now naturally, in every year there has got to be a song that's number one on the charts on this particular day, whether it's only for a week or over the span of three months. It's interesting to see how some of these songs stuck around to become well known classics, while others are already somewhat forgotten.
The Top Ten
1 Without Me - Eminem

Number one in 2002.
Topped the Austrian charts from June 6th to July 10th, then again from August 8th to 28th.

2 Dragostea Din Tei - O-Zone
3 Killing Me Softly - Fugees

Number one in 1996 - so it was really number one on the day I was born.
Topped the Austrian charts from July 28th to September 7th, then again from September 15th to 21st.

I knew this song was special!

4 I'll Be Missing You - Puff Daddy
5 Big Girls Don't Cry - Fergie

Hearing the neat and well performed pop music Fergie's first album had to offer, I am even more disappointed of the mediocre and not at all memorable material of her anticipated second solo record. I mean, seriously: were there any songs like this?

6 More Than You Know - Axwell Λ Ingrosso
7 Around the World (La la la la La) - Atc
8 Buttons - Pussycat Dolls
9 Wake Me Up - Avicii
10 Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix) - Imany
The Contenders
11 Ab in den Süden - Buddy & DJ The Wave
12 Ghetto Superstar (This Is What You Are) - Pras Michel, Ol' Dirty Bastard & Mýa

This is the only song that surprises me. Back in the late 90s to the mid-to-late 2000s, American hip hop was kind of popular in the Austrian charts as well (that was the peak of music channels such as MTV Germany or VIVA, who aired such music unlike the radio) but this one song was actually pretty obscure to me. While other chart topping US hip hop songs such as "Gangsta's Paradise" or "I'll Be Missing You" in the meantime do get airplay, this one was kind of forgotten.

Number one in 1998
Topped the Austrian charts from August 2nd to 8th, then again from August 16th to 22nd, then again from September 6th to 12th.

13 Señorita - Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello

Number one in 2019.

Topped the Austrian charts from July 12th to August 1st and August 9th to September 5th, 2019.

14 Savage Love - Jawsh 685 x Jason Derulo

Number one in 2020.

Topped the Austrian charts from July 10th to July 16th and July 24th to September 3rd, 2020.

15 Bad Habits - Ed Sheeran

Number one in 2021.

Topped the Austrian charts from August 20th to August 26th, 2021.

16 Layla - DJ Robin & Schürze

Number 1 in 2022.

Topped the charts from July 5th to August 29th, 2022.

17 Mädchen auf dem Pferd - Luca-Dante Spadafora, Niklas Dee, Octavian, Peter Plate & Ulf Leo Sommer
18 Rising Girl - Rising Girl
19 Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65
20 Follow Me - Uncle Kracker
21 All Summer Long - Kid Rock

I never got why Kid Rock got so much hate. Then again, I don't know many of his songs other than this one. This was his big hit over here, the song that made him famous, although he never had any other popular song again. But this song still gets a lot of radio airplay.
While it does heavily sample "Sweet Home Alabama" (maybe that was the reason for the negative response? ), it also has nice lyrics about nostalgia, and doesn't harm anybody.

22 I Gotta Feeling - The Black Eyed Peas
23 We No Speak Americano - Yolanda Be Cool
24 Danza Kuduro - Don Omar & Lucenzo

Gosh, I remember this one. This song annoyed the hell out of me in 2011 to an extent I could barely handle it anymore when the song was on the radio, and they played it several times a day. I can't even tell why I despised it so much more than other similarly sounding songs of the time, as looking at it objectively, it's just mediocre not terrible, but even now I still get the same negative vibes listening to it. Thankfully, the song didn't stick around to become a modern day classic.

25 Don't Wake Me Up - Chris Brown
