Top 10 U.S. States with the Best Mountains
-
Utah
The beauty of Utah's mountains is amplified by the fact that the population lives among them and plays in them so often that they are a central part of the culture of Utah.
About time somebody has it right.
-
Colorado
Colorado is the king of the Rocky Mountains. No state can compete with Colorado, not even Utah. This is the Rocky Mountains I learned about in school. I see why the mountain's name is the Rocky Mountains.
When a deer crosses the street, it is beautiful for people to wait. We must learn that American national parks do not damage nature. LOVE YOU, COLORADO.
All you have to do is see for yourself. And see. And see. Magnificent mountains and valleys unlike anywhere else. Very unique, especially in the contrast between summer and winter, and the fact that no matter when you come, it will be beautiful.
-
California
There are so many mountains in California it's impossible to name even a fraction of them. It's also a place where you can hike and climb 365 days a year. There is no better place on earth.
-
Wyoming
Wyoming has some of the most beautiful mountains in the US and should be ranked #1. I love Wyoming. It has high, snow-capped peaks, over 64 of them above 13,000 feet, making it second-highest in terms of average elevation.
Our state should be #1 in terms of the best economy and beauty. We should excel in everything. If you love this state more than me (which is impossible), feel free to comment.
You should also know that our antelope population is really high, as well as elk, deer, moose, and other wildlife. If you love hunting, come to Wyoming. We are #1, but we don't want too many people to come here. Watch out for the weather, as it can get nasty, but we love that too.
Just the thought of the high plateau is invigorating. Yellowstone is so gorgeous that you'll be inspired to move here.
-
Montana
How are the mountains of Colorado, Utah, Idaho, California, and Wyoming more beautiful than the mountains of Montana? I mean seriously, Google images of "Glacier National Park," and you'll see what I mean. Google images of "Rocky Mountain National Park" in Colorado, and it pales in comparison.
Google pictures of "Bozeman, Montana," and Boulder pales in comparison.

Idaho
-
Washington
The Cascades have 5 huge glacier-covered volcanoes, while having some of the most jagged peaks in the U.S. in the northern portion. Washington also has the Olympics, which are a young but growing range. They look like a huge wall coming out of the water from the Puget/Possession Sound.
The Cascades are absolutely stunning, and a small taste of the massive Canadian Rockies. Plus, Mt. Baker boasts the world's snowfall record at 95 feet in one season. Mt. Rainier is also simply majestic.

Oregon
-
Alaska
West Virginia is higher on the list than Alaska - seriously? I lived in Alaska and have been to the other 49 states. There are spectacular mountains in many states, but Alaska is at the top of my list.
Alaska by far has the best mountains! It's the most beautiful state in the entire U.S.!
The mountains around here are so beautiful. Alaska should be number one.

West Virginia
The heart of the Appalachian Mountains is located in West Virginia.
-
Michigan
Michigan has mountains because of very ancient, hard rocks in the Upper Peninsula that have endured erosion over eons, while the rest of the state's topography is mostly a product of more recent glacial activity.
While Michigan isn't known for having "classic" large mountains like the Rockies, the state's "best" mountains - primarily located in the Upper Peninsula - are considered great for their unique combination of rugged beauty, stunning views of the Great Lakes (particularly Lake Superior), accessible hiking trails, and the relatively wild and pristine environment of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, often called "The Porkies." These features make them a top choice for Midwestern outdoor enthusiasts.

Arizona's mountains are better than #14 on this list. Top 10.
I cannot believe State 48 was left off the list.
