Top Subgenres of Christian Metal

Although some people think Christian metal is different from the other metal (specially atheist or satanic metal), the only thing that makes a band a Christian metal band, is the lyrics or the beliefs of the members. Christian metal is in all the subgenres, from glam metal (like Stryper) to black metal (like Antestor). Christian metal doesn't change only for being Christian, some people ever compare Christian metal bands with secular or anti-Christian metal bands by their style of playing metal.

there are many Christian bands of thrash, the best being Tourniquet. This is my favorite metal subgenre, and I like many bands. Most notable Christian thrash bands are: Deliverance, Believer, Vengeance Rising and Tourniquet.

4 Death metal

Wow... This was close between Death Metal and Power Metal. There's so much more death metal but no one knows about the really good bands. Bands like A thousand times repent, Woe of tyrants, miseration, mortal treason, and so on, but I love theocracy and harmony so much.

the best band here is Living Sacrifice, although they have changed their genre (in their debut album, they were thrash, in the next to albums they were death metal, next changed to metalcore). Other great bands are Mortification, Crimson Thorn, Extol and Opprobium.

5 Power metal

bands like Narnia, Theocracy, Divinefire, Harmony and Jacobs Dream

6 Glam metal Glam metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, and upbeat rock anthems.

the best Christian metal band is here, Stryper

7 Unblack metal

although black metal is known for being satanic, unblack metal bands make black metal with Christian message. Famous black metal bands are Antestor, Extol and Horde.

this one is my vote. Actually, I really don't like black metal. It sucks!

8 Progessive metal

in Christian metal, many power metal bands play prog metal too

9 Deathcore
10 Industrial metal

Mortal is cited as one of the first Christian bands that represented the style. Mortal was not the first Christian band that played industrial metal, but they had a notable role in that they opened ways for 1990s industrial metal bands, both Christian and secular.

The Contenders
11 Gothic metal
12 Symphonic metal
13 Nu metal
