Best Heavy Metal Bandsschwanie
The Contenders: Page 8
It all falls under the voluminous umbrella of heavy metal.
I must have caught you mid-post. It's still metal.
Of course it's metal. Nice how you conveniently left out the 'metal' part at the end of 'black'.V 1 Comment
I was hooked on Monster Magnet for 2 solid years. If you have ever tripped and love metal energy these are your guys. Try God says no first and take it from there. These guys should easily be at least the top 20V 2 Comments
The best metal band. Just like that. Since I started to listen to them I was very surpprised, not just because the guitars rhythm but also because for the lyrics. What they say, their lyrics have changed the way a see metal, not just as another music genre but a life style for many people and bands that have done their works for many years, doesn't matter how bad things have happened.
How has no one voted for in flames. Best band on the planet over 50 songs worth listening to. Consistent pure awesomeness and should be at bare minimum top 15.
Amazing meaningful lyrics. Outstanding guitarists. Ever evolving sound. Listen to their first album & any other one & you shall see.
Best band everV 8 Comments
Boss band. One of the few bands being Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Dreamtale, and of course Hammerfall where I can honestly say I like EVERY song by them. Great power metal however their live versions are lacking compared to their fantastic studio albums.
Why are they not on this list? Just why?
Everybody who loves metal just have to love this band. Really, Guys, whats up with you, are you all stupid?
One of the best bends for sure... I don't understand why are they on 96th place... ? It's disgrace
Maybe the best band ever createdV 3 Comments
If you're seeing AB in the top 10, I have achieved my goal in life! AB for life! M/
Who knew something so good like Alter Bridge can come out of something so bad like Creed.
Awesome! Love they're song Metalingus. Creed sucked, I'm glad the end result was better.
I like them, but they're alternative rock.V 2 Comments
Not heavy metal, but the best and most under-rated trash metal band ever. Unlike Metallica, they have great vocals
Really, Overkill not mentioned until #123?
Not heavy metal? Who on Earth would say that? You do realise that crossover, metalcore, deathcore, thrash, NWOBHM, death, black, post-hardcore etc. Are all metal movements, retard?
Oh, I get the prank. Lol. Yes, Blitz is a unique talent, no question, but I find his thrash rhythm guitaring to be trash.V 2 Comments
He may not come in this category.. But just voting to give some respect to real music as I see peopel shouting linkin park and green day
My everyday commute to work takes 1 hour full of hard rock/heavy metal. Every day I evaluate bands to see if they got behind in 20th century. The ones who do are removed from my ipod. Jimi Hendrix is still in the list and I cannot say for how long. A true genius deserves way better than 89.
Hey, he was heavy for the 60's, so why not?V 1 Comment
Pretty Maids have on various occasions mentioned: Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kiss, Icon, Slade, and Queen as some of their influences.
Over the years, they have recorded cover songs from many of these influences, including their most famous hit to date: A 1992 cover of John Sykes' ballad Please Don't Leave Me.
In 1998, Swedish power metal band HammerFall released their Legacy of Kings album, which features a cover of Pretty Maids' song "Back to Back" from their debut album Red, Hot and Heavy.
Should be placed near motley crue on this list
Pretty maids has released a new album "motherland", with some brand new tracks in 2013
I May 2010, Pretty Maids released Pandemonium, which was named one of their best albums.
Celebrating their 30th anniversary, Pretty Maids played a concert at Tivoli, Copenhagen, which featured Rene Shades on bass.
On September 15th 2012, Pretty Maids played in the USA for the first time in the Progressive festival ProgPower.

Pretty Maids are a Danish heavy metal band from Horsens, Denmark. Formed in 1981 by Ronnie Atkins and Ken Hammer, their sound and music can be described as classic guitar-laden heavy rock with a strong emphasis on melodic elements like vocals and keyboards.
Over the years, Pretty Maids have sold hundreds of thousands of records, but have never broken through in a major way, except in Japan during the 1990s. They have supported well known bands as Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, and Saxon, and were also featured at the 1987 German version of Monsters of Rock, where Metallica headlined along with Deep Purple.
Pretty Maids are currently still active, and their album, Pandemonium, was released through Frontiers Records on May 14, 2010. After a prolonged international touring hiatus before the release of the 2006 Wake Up To The Real World album, the band have every year since been touring their primary markets of Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and ...more
One of the best bands that should be on the top 50, they got really good music more like each song is unique
Sempiternal was a crushing album of emotion and breakdowns, but That's The Spirit is progress personified, along with the Deathbeds ep. These guys are already immense, and deservedly so.
Why is this so low on the list?
It is a incredible band! love all the ablums!V 6 Comments
Durst band in metal history. -10 for them even being on here, despite the fact they're metal and can be on here.V 1 Comment
I'm a bit puzzled to see Celtic Frost has no votes. Last I knew they were one of the most influential metal bands of all time
Even Kurt Cobain liked this band!
Misfits in the band mother of grunge, it have to be in better position.
