Worst English Prime Ministers

The Top Ten
1 Margaret Thatcher Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, was a British stateswoman and politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and was the first ...read more.

The cleavage between rich and poor is still growing because of her greedy neo-liberalism policies ( with the help of Ronald Reagan ) she took in the late seventies and eighties. While we were slowly recovering of that effect a new organisation in the US ( the Trump organisation ) is starting all over again with their so-called tax cut for corporations. If we wouldn't have politicians as Thatcher, Reagan, Bush etc... in history we wouldn't have irrational politicians like Trump. The global greedy economic society like we have now is for a great part because her past policies. She's dead but unfortunally we still feel her stupid legacy after all this decades she'd left in this world.

I only like...first female prime minister.
The states can't get a female president. (I thought Hillary was finally going to be the first female.)

Evil, selfish, hypocritical, xenophobic, divisive, cynical, ruthless, simplistic, uncultured, unscrupulous, unfeeling, unbending unable to compromise - I can find nothing positive to say about this wicked woman. I hope there is a hereafter so that I can see how she is being punished...

Made selfishness, greed, jingoism, arrogance and intransigence acceptable.Broughtpost-was consensus to a crashing end. Her baneful influence still permeates the country today - look at the attitude of England's over-forties.

2 Boris Johnson Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is an English politician, popular historian, and journalist who has served as Member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Johnson previously served as the MP for Henley from 2001 until 2008, and as Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. A member of ...read more.

This guy is the reason why we didn’t exit lockdown permanently during spring-summer (early autumn at most) of 2020. His incompetence has my city Liverpool and other places in England and the rest of the uk up the wall. I hope this pot noodle (pot of noodles for you yanks and others who might not have it) and his gang of idiots are never allowed to run the country again permanently. Anti Tory Organisation everyone I am a liberal conservatives out they don’t know how to run a country because they care for themselves and themselves only. They will never start caring unless we go down to 10 Downing Street and meet the man himself and start tearing his office down, until he gives in to the demands of the ATO. This man is somehow worse than Theresa May who I already despised. I say we eliminate him and finally get a prime minister with a brain cell. They don’t have to be any sort of Winston Churchill but they certainly cannot be any Boris Johnson of any sort.

For those sympathetic to this guys incompetence and pandering to populist vote they should look at the facts with Brexit alone: Referendum was announced in January 2013 - by the New Year this will be 8 years! One can claim he’s only been in Job 5 minutes but its all occurred with him and his party in office and cannot blame opposition parties. The economies failing by 1930’s parallels and the only growth markets are food banks for the poor. The only thing he delivers is rhetoric. Look through the gloss and you will realise that he NEVER delivered Brexit just kicked the can down the road another 18 months. Based on previous form he will not deliver. Bring on next election !

Failed to deliver on any Unicorn fantasies ranging from Bridges to France, Bridges to Ireland, Cycling bridges in London - Oh and Brexit. When has he ever delivered on anything?

A burning, blinding symbol of the populist, post-truth wave sweeping the right, a racist, sexist bigot that hates the laws he's forced to follow and the opposing parties that hold him accountable. Elected to throw millions under the poverty line for the sake of protecting the Conservatives from hemorrhaging voters to BP. An utter embarrassment to the country, and a permanent stain on 10 Downing Street that can never be removed.

3 Neville Chamberlain

A bunch of idiots only a few hundred mikes away are trying to take more lands for themeselves. And what should one do? Completely destroy that nation? No! Chamberlain thought that it was OK to let them have more land! That turned out terribly. Even after World War 2 began, Chamberlain still thought that he could tolerate them.

What an idiot, it's his fault that Britain got attacked in ww2, thank gosh that winston Churchill came.

Great guy he's the one who announced the ww2 so good on him, very brave and scary thing to do.

He was the stupidest pm

4 Theresa May Theresa Mary May, MP served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from July 2016 to July 2019, when Boris Johnson became PM. She has been a Member of Parliament for Maidenhead since 1997. May identifies as a one-nation conservative and has been characterised as ...read more.

Weak and wobbly robotic soundbite machine. Her 'performance' in the snap election says it all. U-turning like a spinning top and completely unable to speak to real people. The only reason she hasn't been ousted is that the hard right Brexiteers can manipulate her so easily. She'll be out on her ear on 29/03/19 - just after Scotland declares its independence.

Brexit didn't have to be a disaster, we had options like Norway or Switzerland. But she made hard line choices meaning a deal was impossible. Cameron screwed up, but May destroyed everything

Her Brexit "deal" seems to be a "worst of both worlds" type scenario. I can't tell if she is incompetent or just sabotaging Brexit, but her actions could irreversibly damage Britain.

Completely useless and clearly has poor judgement (calling the snap election which lost her seats)

5 David Cameron David William Donald Cameron is a British politician who is at present the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Leader of its Conservative Party, and Member of Parliament for the Oxfordshire constituency of Witney.

He promised a European referendum and as a statesman should have represented the voice of the people, instead left politics completely and left his country in the mess of which he created. He continued with excessive cuts and privatisation even when the economy was doing relatively well.

London Riots. NHS privatisation. ATOS. Shame on you.

He gambled (and lost) for his own and his party's benefit. In politics. What else needs to be said. With his amateurism, he did an enormous amount of (Brexit) damage to his country, to Europe and to world stability. Annihilated Britain's reliability perception.

Cameron was a MASSIVE disappointment and botched himself out of office when the country really needed him. The aftermath of Brexit only resulted in me resenting politics further and part of it is to blame towards Cameron.

This guy is responsible for the whole Brexit fiasco. He never wanted to leave the EU anyways, but he still held the referendum and then buggered off when he didn't get the result he wanted.
Greedy and spineless are the two words that come to mind.

6 James Callaghan

Conservative what can I say.

7 Tony Blair Anthony Charles Lynton Blair, originally known as Anthony Blair, but later as Tony Blair, is a British Labour Party politician, who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, from 1997 to 2007. From 1983 to 2007, Blair was the Member of Parliament for Sedgefield, and from 1994 to 2007, Blair ...read more.

A thoroughly fake, ineffective and inconsequential politician. All he ever did was drag us into the unjustifiable Iraq War.

Why is this man still in politics? he should be in prison! and he is lecturing the British public to u-turn brexit does not care about people dangerous man evil man and his wife!

He should be in the top three. It's because of him that everyone lost faith in Labour.

The war criminal who caused mass immigration. What more can I say?

8 Gordon Brown James Gordon Brown is a British Labour Party politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Labour Party from 2007 until 2010. He previously served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour Government from 1997 to 2007. Brown was a Member of Parliament from 1983 to ...read more.

What a complete tosser... whined like a spoilt kid until he got the 'top job' then what a total disaster...if socialists understood economics they wouldn't be socialists..

Worst Chancellor of Exchequer and worst prime minister. As Chancellor, he sold Gold at a record low price, he raided (taxed) private pensions, he increased borrowing of public money consistently (therefore increased the national debt), he put a 10% tax rate for the lowest earners, and he let property prices skyrocket. As Prime Minister, he failed to steer Britain away from the 2008 recession (causing higher numbers of unemployment), he labelled a lifelong supporter a 'bigot' for her concerns of Labour's mass immigration policy and continued to borrow more money.

Destroyed our state pension taking it from one of the best to the worst in the developed world. Sold our gold for nothing. As he said no more boom and bust until on his watch the biggest bust in a hundred years came of which we may never recover.

There have been some totally awful prime minister's, but this nasty clown had my blood boiling the most, totally inept & was proven to be a nasty piece of work, when his negative comments about a lady who questioned him were recorded...glad we don't have to suffer under him anymore, otherwise we would have gone straight down the toilet.

9 Robert Peel
10 Edward Heath

The worst. Got us into the European Union and brought the country to its knees economically.

The Contenders
11 Anthony Eden

Boy, was Winston Right when he said Anthony Eden wasn't up for the Job. He served as Prime Minister for two years and within that time he had started a lot of conflict between Israel and Britain. After years of waiting in Winston Churchill’s shadow, Eden finally became Conservative Party leader and prime minister in 1955 when Churchill resigned due to ill-health. He may have strengthened the Conservatives majority in an election when he took over, but Eden’s premiership was short-lived and ended in failure thanks to the Suez Crisis in which Eden attempted to take the Suez canal. Things did not go to plan and he received “widespread international condemnation”

Kind of a disgrace that Eden isn't on the main list. An imperialist and a failure.

12 Frederick North, Lord North

The prime Minister who lost America. Before Lord North came to power Britain ruled much of the North America. By the time he left only Canada remained. It was Lord North who picked the fight with the American colonists and managed to oversee a idiotic foreign policy which led to the French, Spanish and even the Dutch siding with the fledgling United States against Britain.

13 John Major

Peas are good tonight dear!

14 William Cavendish-Bentinck
15 Harold Berman

This guy is from Hey Arnold he’s a cartoon character

16 Harold Macmillan
17 Alec Douglas-Home
18 Harold Wilson
19 Winston Churchill Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill was a British statesman who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, and a writer.

I like the difference in the perception of similar events by the leaders of "bad" and "good" countries.
Famine in the USSR in 1933: the whole world screams about the atrocities of bloody Stalin.
Famine in Bengal in 1943: "Hands off Churchill, he is our greatest leader! "
This is called propaganda and double standards.

I am from India and I personally hate this guy for killing 3 to 4 million people from famine. The worst thing however is the way Brits treat him like a god.
Winston Churchill is the stupidest most hypocritical racist that I have ever

Zionist supporter. This man may have fought against Hitler but he only did so for Britain's interests and no one else. He could have stopped the murder of millions of Palestinian deaths but he did nothing.

Winston Churchill was amazing. What is he doing on this list, especially above Theresa May?

21 Clement Attlee
