I have always felt so sorry for Erza. She had such a terrible and painful childhood. I can't even begin to imagine what would happen if any of my friends or I were in that kind of situation. She was abandoned by Jellal because he was being controlled by Ultear and had to go through so much pain. When Simon died, I cried so hard with her. It was so sad, and I couldn't help but feel terrible for her. She never deserved to be treated like that.
And when she was crying when Jellal got sent to prison, I cried with her. That was one of the top five saddest moments in Fairy Tail for me. She had to go through so much, and throughout the series there were moments when I wished I could be there for her.

Yes. Sanji was always so proud, confident, and outgoing, so I never thought he would be the character I would feel the most sympathy for. But I had no idea. His childhood with his horrible father and brothers, the death of his mother, being abandoned by his father, then starving on a rock for weeks. Sanji had it rough. And then all the things that happened during WCI, the blackmail, the beatings, being forced to choose between his dream and his nakama's lives, Pudding's betrayal. If it happened to me, I don't think I would've been able to handle it as well as he did. I never felt so sorry for a character before. But it looks like things are looking up for him. He might even get a wife out of this whole mess, so I feel better. lol

Yuki Takeya (School-Live!)

I feel so bad for her. In this zombie apocalypse, she and four others, including a dog, are trapped in a school, but she sees the whole world as it was before the outbreak. Everyone is still alive in her mind, and the teacher who saved them is still alive. This happened because she was the first to notice the zombie outbreak in the group, and she was so sad. Megunee helped her stay happy, only to die getting them to safety, so Yuki denied the world and lives in her own illusion. When she or a loved one is in danger, she comes out of it and acts reckless while saving them, and then remembers that Megunee died. Her best friends who sat by her in class are actually dead, and she only has Miki, Kurumi, Rii-san, and the dog with her until the dog dies. It is so sad in many moments, especially when she finally accepts that Megunee is dead in episodes 11 and 12.
I feel so bad for all the characters. Miki loses her best friend, and when she and the dog finally make up, it dies. Kurumi had to kill the person she loved when the outbreak started, and she gets infected and cured for a bit. Rii-san is everyone's sister basically, but when her true colors show, she is very broken. You learn this in the last three episodes when Kurumi gets bit. Rii-san is crying, going insane, and is wondering whether she should do what Kurumi said and kill her when she turns or not, and she is very unstable. Every character is someone you feel bad for, but Yuki is the one I felt most sad for.
