Best Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Characters
After seeing Oath Under Snow, it's safe to say Miyu Edelfelt, or should I say Miyu Sakatsuki, is arguably one of the most tragic heroines in the Fate franchise. And this is coming from a spin-off that indulges in fanservice and yuri content, no less! Honestly, I liked the approach 3rei took with Fate/kaleid, especially now that we know more about Miyu's situation.
Poor Miyu was raised solely as a human tool capable of granting wishes. Even though Kiritsugu and Shirou saved her when she was almost killed by the collapsing shrine (caused by the Ainsworth family during the pitch-black disaster that nearly destroyed all of Fuyuki City), Kiritsugu still planned to use her - the Child of God - to save everyone at the cost of her own life.
It was only through Kiritsugu's peaceful death and Shirou choosing not to follow the same path as his father that Miyu was raised well by Shirou. When she was kidnapped by the Ainsworth family, Shirou went to great lengths to rescue her and eventually attempted to send her to Illya's universe for a happier life. That, and I was honestly on the verge of tears when I saw her all alone in Illya's world.
She was walking in a dress that barely kept her warm, resorting to wearing abandoned clothes from the street, and she almost got run over by a car! Thank goodness she met Sapphire and eventually became great friends with Illya.
I definitely can't wait to get Chloe von Einzbern as a Welfare Servant in the upcoming Prisma Causeway collaboration event! That said, there are three things I really like about Chloe.
One, her seiyuu is none other than Chiwa Saito, the voice of Homura Akemi and Tamamo no Mae. Two, her sassy and deviant personality contrasts perfectly with Illya's more good-willed and innocent nature. And three, her lore.
While Miyu is arguably more tragic than Chloe, it goes without saying that both have their own heartbreaking backgrounds. Chloe is Illya's sealed memories turned into a second personality when Irisviel sealed those memories to give Illya a happy life instead of having her serve as a vessel for the Holy Grail.
It might not seem like much at first, but think about it: How would you feel if you existed only as a second personality of someone else's sealed memories, living in their shadow while they stood in the light? Other than that, GET READY TO JOIN MY SERVANTS IN FGO, CHLOE!
I'm just going to say this for anyone seeing this list in the future: Now that I've seen 3rei, whenever I praise Shirou Emiya from Fate/kaleid, let it be known that I am referring to the one from the Miyuverse, NOT the Illyaverse.
When I first made this list, I didn't put much thought into it. But now that I've caught up with the latest installment of this spin-off, I honestly have to say Miyuverse Shirou (aka Alternate Universe Shirou) is arguably one of, if not THE, best incarnations of Shirou in any Fate series installment thus far.
Prior to seeing him in action in Oath Under Snow, where he raised and cared for Miyu and risked his life to save her (before saving her again in 3rei), only UBW and Heaven's Feel came close to presenting the greatest incarnations of Shirou. Other than that, Miyuverse Shirou rocks, but Illyaverse Shirou sucks.
