Top 10 Best High School DxD Characters

1. Asia Argento

   

   Asia is honestly one of the more interesting characters of the show. Starting off as a nun for the world's church, she threw an interesting wrench into the show when Issei wanted to befriend her, because he was a devil.

   Nevertheless, he put his life on the line to save the nun, and now she's a reincarnated devil along with Issei. Having a devil who was previously a church nun is certainly an interesting concept.

   She may be just the nicest, sweetest, most pure girl in the show. I think she makes a great addition to the DxD group. Her Twilight Healing is useful as heck too.

2. Rias Gremory

   

   Rias Gremory is a fictional character in the light novel, anime, and manga series High School DxD. She is a high-ranking demon and the heir to the Gremory clan. In the series, Rias recruits the main character, Issei Hyoudou, into her household of demons after he is killed by a fallen angel.

   She is a respected leader of the Occult Club for a reason. It isn't just because she is the sister of the Devil King Sirzechs. You see in the show that the other members look up to her and treat her as a real friend.

   Issei even said that he doesn't respect her for her Gremory title. He respects her because he likes her as a person. He's right too. Rias is just an amazing woman on her own.

3. Akeno Himejima

   

   I thought Akeno was amazing before, but when her origin and backstory were revealed in New, she became all the more interesting. Being both Fallen Angel and Devil? What a cool idea.

   I wonder if Raynare was foreshadowing that reveal in a funny way, because Raynare was a Fallen Angel and she looks a lot like Akeno. Anyway, I hail the Thunder Queen of High School DxD!

4. Issei Hyoudou

   

   Issei Hyoudou is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists of the anime series High School DxD. He is a second-year student who begins the series as a pervert but matures over time. He develops romantic relationships with Rias Gremory and Akeno Himejima.

   He may seem like just a shameless pervert at first, which he kinda is, but he actually has a good heart deep down. I see that whenever he risked his life to save others (like in Season 2 when he tried to save Yuuto, for example).

   Issei is the best character since he is loved by girls and he is a kind, manly, stubborn, ruthless, caring, badass boy.

5. Yuuto Kiba

   

   When this character first showed up, I imagined he would just be the gentlemanly popular guy who would serve as Issei's main unintentional rival in the show. When I saw him in the Occult Club, I thought he was decent. He had cool powers and served the role of Gremory's Knight well.

   Then, when I learned his story in Season 2, my view on him increased significantly. What a tragic backstory to have, yet he persevered for the sake of carrying on the dreams of his sacrificed comrades. I now see him as a great friend and admirable man, with cool powers still.

   When his backstory was revealed in New, I gained a whole lot more respect for him.

6. Azazel

   

   The plot twist behind his identity was one of the coolest experiences in this anime. I'd say spoiler warning, but the name here is already kind of a spoiler, so I hope voters are here after having seen all of DxD New already.

   He made for a very interesting neutrally-sided character who later joins with the Occult for the heck of it. Azazel has the most fascinating disposition to me.

7. Vali Lucifer

   

   A complex character with complex relations to his dragon-host rival, Issei. Vali was a cool addition to the show.

   If I were to go gay for any anime guy, it would likely be Vali. He's a sexy man.

8. Koneko Toujou

   She's like one of those fatal loli girls, but with some character depth. She's the best.

9. Xenovia Quarta

   

   She was already an incredible woman with amazing skills before, but once it was revealed that she is the worthy wielder of the legendary Durandal, her amazing badass factor went through the atmosphere!

   She's sexy, badass, competent, cool, and has Kuudere charm. I think I'm in love, yo.

10. Irina Shidou

    

    I know the competition between all the fine waifus in this anime is tight, and understandably so, but I think this chick right here is the finest to me. Something about her is just so... *nosebleeds*

    What a way to implement the whole "I thought she was a boy when we were kids" trope.

13. Gasper Vladi

    

    Being able to stop time on top of vampire and demon essence? I think this boy is kinda OP!

    A vampire and devil mix makes for an interesting character. Hence, I vote for Gasper.

14. Genshirou Saji

    

    I think this guy is really underrated. He, like Issei and Vali, has a cool Sacred Gear, this one known as "Vritra" or "The King Dragon of Darkness' Gear." Although not like Vali or Issei's, which host dragon spirits within, it is still really useful and has helped everyone numerous times. Just watch the Devils' fight with Loki to witness Saji's abilities.

    Not to mention, I love his friendship with Issei. They both were petty with each other at first, but now they have become friendly rivals who have fought alongside each other multiple times. This guy is underrated.

    I didn't think much of him until the part in Season 2 when he joined Issei in helping out Yuuto. Now I see him as a real homie.

15. Serafall Leviathan

    

    This is how they implemented a magical girl in the show. LMAO.

16. Sona Sitri

    

    She was nothing but a competent and badass devil leader from my memory, so I cast a vote to her.

17. Tsubaki Shinra

    

    She serves as a great right-hand woman for Sona Sitri. They both think on the same badass wavelength, and not to mention the same kind of cool looks too.

18. Kuroka

    

    I'm interested in learning more about this mythological nekomata. I hope DxD Hero expands on Kuroka's character more.

19. Aika Kiryuu

    

    I was pleasantly surprised by how "cultured" this girl was. She's like the most self-aware chick in the series. It's hilarious.

    A Norse Valkyrie that becomes a devil sounds like a cool idea to me!
