Top 10 Best Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Characters

Getting dropped into a magical isekai usually guarantees overpowered abilities and instant glory. Subaru Natsuki totally missed that memo and scored a front-row seat to endless psychological torture instead. He survives this gruesome loop of death only because he is surrounded by a phenomenal supporting cast of beautifully broken individuals.

Choosing a favorite among these incredibly well-written royal candidates and heavily armed oni maids is enough to make anyone's brain tremble. Cast your vote for the absolute best character in this brutally brilliant universe and show us who truly deserves the crown.

1. Rem

   

   She has basically become the icon of "best waifu" and such. I noticed that whenever waifus are mentioned in most places, her image shows up. It even showed up when I simply Googled "waifu" (definition of) for fun.

   The biggest and best support for Subaru. I'm telling you, she's the one for him.

2. Emilia

   

   So yeah, Rem is probably best girl for the MC, but I can't bring myself to hate Emilia. She's just too nice and kindhearted.

3. Wilhelm van Astrea

   

   He reminds me of Senator Armstrong.

4. Ram

   

   The best kuudere girl if I've ever seen one.

5. Reinhard van Astrea

   

   His nice-guy level really is off the charts, just like Subaru said when he first met him. That makes Reinhard a solid guy and a nice friend to have.

   How is this guy so overpowered? It's kinda crazy, but useful too.

6. Felix Argail

   

   Oh yeah, the best "girl" in the show. Many people really like this "girl."

7. Subaru Natsuki

   

   Subaru becomes a car (tatakae).

   I love Subaru's descriptions of her: "drill-loli" and "manual girl." They sound so painfully accurate it's funny, although you later learn that there is more to Beatrice too.

10. Crusch Karsten

    

    Competent, capable, smart, and powerful in her own right, this might just be the best character in the show.

    While people debate between Rem and Emilia, I'm sitting here thinking Crusch is the true best girl.

    The actual best waifu of the show.

    Daphne - Witch of Gluttony

    

    Another on of the 8 most infamous witches in the world of Re:zero, this one is patterned after one of the 7 deadly sins: gluttony. She is the creator of three of the most feared beasts in Lugunica: The White Whale, The Great Rabbit, and The Black Serpent. All three of those beasts were created with mass consumption in mind - consumption for people and the beasts alike.

    Carmilla - Witch of Lust

    

    One of the eight witches of notorious legend, Carmilla is most known for her power called "Faceless Bride," which causes the onlooker to see the person they want to be with the most. In turn, the closer the onlooker gets to the illusionary object of their desire, the less the body functions; lungs with eventually forget to breathe and the heart will eventually forget to beat because allegedly, the person becomes so transfixed on the desired object that even unconscious functions cease.

    Another underrated character (disappointed me once when she turns to rem)

    I didn't think much of him until Season 2, when he became good friends with Subaru. Now I can see that he's a nice friend to have.

16. Echidna - Witch of Greed

    

    She is the most interesting and fascinating character in Re:Zero, in my opinion. Very intelligent and cunning, with a complex personality, she acts as a rogue element with a gray stance among all the friends and foes in the anime. Her motivations are kinda mysterious, though it is hinted that they aren't pure, though not entirely malicious either. That all makes her interesting.

    I've rambled a bit too much here, but in the end, Echidna is just the most fascinating character to me.

    She might just be the smartest in this anime. I hope she gets a bigger role later in the show.

17. Minerva

    

    She may be a feared witch, but I find her passionate and emotional disposition toward things very endearing. She's a wild card, but honestly very cute too.

    Of all the 7 witches, she seems like the most kind and pure-hearted.

    I love the VA in the dub for Minerva.

    Is she really some form or incarnation of Emilia, or vice versa? Her true identity is a real mystery, as well as her true intentions.

    She basically made the whole anime possible.

    She's actually kind of inspiring. She lives in the slums, but still tries to live her best life.

    He basically taught Subaru how to put rivalries aside.
