Best Westerns of All Time

The Contenders: Page 4

61 Appaloosa
62 The Man From Laramie
63 The Great Silence

One of the grittiest, most pessimistic, unfair and anti-climatic movies of all time. You wait for the light of hope to come every minute... you know that in western movies there are heroes, sometimes anti-heroes that will in the end save the day. Maybe good side characters get killed, but in the end the good guys win and the bad guys lose. They do, right? Right? - Martin_Canine

64 Gunfight At The O.K. Corral
65 Dead Man
66 Shanghai Noon
67 They Call Me Trinity

Terrence Hill as Trinty and on screen brother Bud Spencer are the fastest man alive and Trinity' brother is the WWF champ of the West. It's how he handles rowdy's with ease that will have you laughing throughout the movie. This is the first of a series of movies. You won't believe how they eat (like a horse). The movie is targeted for a younger audience that don't really have a developed brain. - ProThrowbacks

Seen all of them as a kid. Very entertaining, I think they were spaghetti westerns, but never knew why Terrence Hill never talked.

So funny! I love the movies from Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill very much!

68 Johnny Guitar
69 Django
70 Heaven's Gate
71 Sons of Katie Elder

Folks, with John Wayne and Dean Martin, you know you have an action packed film. - ProThrowbacks

72 Winchester '73

Good Brother vs. Evil Brother

73 The Assassination Of Jessie James

One of the most underrated movies of all time. - Alpha101

74 The Professionals
75 The Ox-Bow Incident

How in the world can anyone possessed with knowledge of film, keep "my darling clementine " and "the Ox-bow incident " out of the top ten western movies of all time!? Absolutely incomprehensible!

76 The Shakiest Gun In The West
77 Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid

59? You kidding me? This is a true classic, one of Sam Peckinpah's greatest. Kris Kristofferson is brilliant here and Bob Dylan's music (though I'm not a big fan of it) works wonderfully. A film everybody should watch, and definitely better than True Grit (2010). Some of the other choices are very good, I have to admit (the Sergio Leoni ones, the Clint Eastwood ones, the John Ford ones), but Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid deserves to be in the Top 10 in my opinion

78 Silverado
79 Big Jake
80 Three Bullets for a Long Gun

A rather humorous spaghetti Western with a great soundtrack. Two strangers or two brothers looking for the lost gold? - ProThrowbacks
