Top 10 Biggest Snubs in the NFL's "Top 100 Players of 2024" List
Football season is right around the corner, which means it's time for the NFL's annual Top 100 Players list. This list has become more of a joke with each passing year, turning into nothing more than a popularity contest voted on by the players themselves. Every year, it seems to get worse. This list will discuss the players who most deserved to be on the Top 100 but were snubbed. There are plenty of arguments to be made here, as there is a long list of players who were unfairly left out.
The biggest snub has to be Jaylon Johnson. He was one of the best cornerbacks in the league last season, earned a Pro Bowl spot, and was named 2nd-team All-Pro. That should be enough to make the Top 100, but somehow he missed the list entirely, which makes no sense at all. He was arguably one of the core contributors on that Bears defense, which was sneaky good toward the tail end of the season.
L'Jarius Sneed was undeniably one of the best cornerbacks in the league last season and one of the biggest reasons why the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. Almost every top wide receiver he faced, he locked down. It's honestly criminal to leave him off the list after winning his second Super Bowl ring.
The Tennessee Titans didn't give him a rich new contract for nothing.
The Jets were a train wreck offensively in 2023 without Aaron Rodgers, yet Breece Hall was one of the few bright spots on that offense. He's largely considered one of the best running backs in the league and is a dual threat on top of that. He should have a breakout 2024 season with Aaron Rodgers back under center.
Some people will argue that he's the second-best running back in the league behind only Christian McCaffrey. He's easily top 10 in the league, undoubtedly.
D.J. Moore had an excellent season with Chicago in 2023, posting career highs across the board. He's definitely the kind of receiver any young quarterback needs. He finished the season with 96 receptions, over 1,300 yards, and 8 touchdowns. Keep in mind that he had Justin Fields throwing him the ball, too. Moore is easily a top 15 wide receiver in the league, yet he's one of the most underrated receivers out there.
It's tough to underestimate the steady, consistent performance of D.J. Moore. Since his rookie season, he's only improved his game. It's about time the NFL gives him some respect.
Creed Humphrey is one of the unsung heroes for the Chiefs over the past few seasons. He should have been on last year's Top 100 and was snubbed again this year. When you talk about the best centers in the league, Creed Humphrey is among the top 3 at least. He's as consistent as they get, and if you want to know how Patrick Mahomes can work his magic, Creed Humphrey is one of the best in the business at his craft.
He's one of the underlying reasons for the Chiefs' success as a whole. It's absolutely criminal that he's been snubbed in back-to-back years.
T.J. Hockenson has really emerged as one of the better tight ends in the league. He almost had 1,000 yards in 2023 and 5 touchdowns, which earned him a top 4 grade by PFF. On top of that, he had a backup quarterback throwing him the ball for half the season.
He's improved his game, and he'll be an important contributor in Minnesota, especially for the rookie J.J. McCarthy. He should be the reliable go-to weapon alongside Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Will Anderson Jr. is the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year, which should have been enough to make the list. He is a solid player on an upstart Texans team. With 7 sacks in his rookie year, he's set to become the cornerstone for that defense to build around for the foreseeable future.
Jaire Alexander is coming off an injury-ridden 2023 season. However, when he's healthy, he is undeniably a top 5 cornerback in the league. He's about as lockdown as it gets. His 2022 season was his best season statistically. He was ranked 26th on last year's list, yet this season, he was left completely off.
I understand he missed over half the season due to injuries, but then we have Aaron Rodgers, who made the list and only played about four snaps. Jaire still should have made the list in my book. I think it's hard to name three corners better than him.
Jahmyr Gibbs had quite an impressive rookie season with the Lions and was one of their main contributors on offense. He finished with just under 1,000 yards rushing and scored 10 touchdowns. All of this in his rookie campaign, he should have made the list for sure. It seems odd that he wasn't included.
Prior to his injury, De'Von Achane was performing at the highest level in the league among running backs, and he was only a rookie. He still managed to get 800 yards and 8 touchdowns in the games we did see him play. It's easy to overlook and forget him, but he absolutely had an impact on the Dolphins' high-flying offense.
If he stays healthy, he has the potential to have a monster 2024 season.
