Most Surprising NFL Teams of Week 5 (2019)
The Football Gods gave us a chaotic week alright. Some teams are still winless. Others still unbeaten and everyone else is somewhere in between. What kinda madness did we get this week?Aaron Jones… that is all you need to know. Green Bay dominated Dallas in Jerry World, much to the amusement of America. Aaron Rodgers torched the defense, and the Cowboys couldn't do anything on offense.
The Packers are looking like a legit threat right now. The Pack are back?
The Colts, by far! Their offensive line completely blew KC's defense open, creating a lot of space for Mack. It was common to see him with 7-8 yard rushes. They just owned the clock with that, leaving Mahomes with little time to try things.
To sum it up, the defense was perfect, and they managed to defeat one of the strongest NFL franchises.
The Colts were all but dead in the water, that's what everyone thought. But little did we know that the O-line would be suffocating for Kansas City. They didn't play much better on offense, but Jacoby Brissett still picked apart the Chiefs' defense and did just enough.
Good job, boys.
The Raiders were playing Da Bears in London, and everyone expected Khalil Mack to go off on them, but actually, no. Instead, the Raiders got away with a win thanks to the inconsistent Bears offense.
Josh Jacobs also played a key role.
I love how they got a comeback, but I hate that when someone was grabbing Michael Gallup and got an interception, the referee didn't count that as a flag. Preston Smith went face to face against Prescott when Prescott threw an interception.
You'd think they would be more competitive, but they really weren't. Granted, they did make it close at the end, but by that point, it was too late. That first half was inexcusable.
You can't go far in January if you can't beat quality opponents.
The Chiefs had a home game on prime time, and what did they do? They got shut down by Indianapolis. Right from the get-go, the offense looked off. Indy's O-line absolutely stifled the Chiefs' offense.
Detroit was the one who exposed them. Indy merely followed their plans. And who was making key plays? None other than former Chief Justin Houston. That's what we get for just letting him go in free agency.
Denver finally got into the win column after an 0-4 start. The Chargers looked off, and Denver's defense took advantage. Phillip Lindsay also had a game, going for 114 yards.
Houston dominated the woefully underachieving Falcons thanks to Deshaun Watson. The guy had 426 yards and 5 touchdowns, 3 of which to Will Fuller.
An impressive offensive showing for the Texans for sure.
San Francisco is 4-0 for the first time in over 20 years. Honestly, after that performance, I'm saying they're for real.
They are definitely not a team to take lightly.
Cleveland, look, here's the thing: you actually have to try. There's getting blown out, and then there's that. You have some tough games ahead, and if you don't win a few, you're going to be desperate.
Nick Bosa literally used you guys as a flag all game long.
