He may be right. I haven't fully listened to this album yet, and I really should. The tracks I listened to were a bit tough but maybe if I take a deep breath I might try to appreciate this. Who knows? I don't hate it yet. Metallica still believe people will turn around on this album.

To be fair, Bowie had been a big admirer of Lou Reed ever since he first heard the Velvet Underground, and he has been influenced by some really bizarre music. I think that made him more open to its quirks rather than just bashing it as a piece of garbage.
