Top Ten Worst Things That Have Happened in 2024
Alright, I think that despite the fact that we are still in January of 2024 as of this typing, we might as well create a list here.Yes, this will likely continue my long-running monthly analysis posts, but let's face it, there are many events out there that will shape the landscape and culture of the world this year. It's worth noting all the things that will make us feel like 2024 is going to somehow be worse than 2023.
So, add items as you wish, but be proper about adding them. No weird items involving celebrity scandals or such unless they are that ridiculous.
Has anyone ever considered that maybe, just maybe, Israel is an evil apartheid regime that has been oppressing Palestinians since it was "founded" in 1948 and takes no issue with murdering and bombing Palestinian civilians? There's a reason South Africa is at the forefront of genocide and apartheid accusations. Having experienced apartheid for themselves, they know it when they see it.
When you've been occupying land and mistreating the people to whom the land belongs, don't be surprised when the population starts resisting the occupation.
Israel has been bombing Palestinians for decades, and the one time they actually fight back, suddenly they're the ones that started the war? Like, seriously?
Even worse is that North Korea has gotten involved. This could have terrible consequences for Ukraine and other countries.
This is the next ongoing conflict and still is a big one. Unfortunately, I really don't see how Ukraine is going to chew their way out of this one, no matter the support they get.
Seems never ending at this point, you can only wait until the war escalates and Europe gets attacked.
New Year's Day started incredibly rough for Japan with a deadly earthquake in the western part of Honshu. There was also a tsunami with it. At least 168 dead so far.

We've had many border crossings and there is significant outcry about what U.S. leadership is doing regarding the border, and it doesn't look like it's going to be anything good.
Should be #1. There are too many drug addicts here, and it is more sad than whatever is going on above.
As someone who often goes to Bondi Junction, I was deeply shocked when this stabbing incident happened. I actually knew someone who was there at the time in Cotton On.
It was a very tragic event. It was highly unexpected and devastating. If it weren't for the lone police officer who shot the man with the knife, more lives would have been lost. Prayers for the families who lost loved ones in the stabbing.
As much as the media wants everyone to hate on Russia, that really refers to the government and Putin. Remember, there are Russian citizens who have been dealing with hardships their entire lives. This, boy howdy, is one terrorist attack.
It's claimed ISIS is responsible, and there was even a video of the terrorists committing the violent acts. One thing's for sure, Russian forces have seized the four men, and one of them confessed that they were killing people, no matter who, for money. He admitted to killing because he wanted money from a higher-up in ISIS.
So it's come to this: trying to take out a political figure you disagree with. America is doomed.

In about two days, wildfires broke out and reached historic magnitudes in Chile. Twenty-six people are dead, but it's expected to go further.
This is another reminder of the true horrors of uncontrolled fires and how climate change is playing a big role in this. Prayers for all the families affected.

Our first mass shooting of the year occurred at a rural high school in Iowa. One student was confirmed dead, along with the perpetrator who shot himself. This happened weeks before the Republican caucuses in the state.
It's also been reported that the perpetrator was LGBTQ+ (genderfluid) and had been bullied at school.
Mpox, also known as Monkeypox, is a dangerous disease that was previously only found in Africa. The confirmation of cases outside of Africa is quite alarming.
(Note: The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Monkeypox a Global Health Emergency. This cousin of Smallpox could potentially cause another global pandemic, and I can't afford to be in lockdown again.)

2016 was a forgivable mistake. Trump was an oddball, and people didn't know the extent of how damaging a presidency under him would be.
2024 was an unforgivable choice. America knew how wildly incompetent he was. He ran the worst campaign in modern history, and yet they still chose to bring him back anyway.
His trade wars, immigration policies, and tariff proposals are bad for the economy. I think a recession and higher inflation will increasingly happen.
Yeah, I'm moving back to South Korea next year. I don't think there was a president worse than Trump there in this century.
Killed in broad daylight by a hooded criminal. The killer, sadly, has successfully managed to leave New York.

One concern I have is about building explosions, often caused by gas leaks and similar issues. Proper maintenance is crucial to prevent such incidents. However, the larger the building, the greater the potential impact.

In a viral video, a man convicted of a felony with multiple other crimes was denied probation. When he heard this, he flew over the judge's table to attack her and started to fight with her.
This video showcases how some criminals view the law. They want to be given incentives all the time, and when they don't get what they want, they act as if they have nothing left to lose. This man will definitely serve more time for this incident, and let's hope incidents like this don't happen again.
Elections in Russia are rigged and unfair, and freedom of speech is heavily suppressed. It's not surprising that Putin would imprison and kill off his opponents and decide who can't run against him.
Dictator Vladimir Putin wants to turn Russia into a totalitarian dictatorship similar to North Korea.

The election is just a joke, and the so-called "opposition" is still backed by Putin.
