Top 10 Worst Things About Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is one of the biggest driving factors in our society in 2026, and while, in theory, it was supposed to be a helpful resource, it's honestly caused more problems and harm than good. Honestly, we need to be aware of these issues before they become even worse.

A.I. is Replacing Jobs
It's no secret that companies are looking to replace their existing employees with A.I. If there's one thing they care about, it's more profits. How do they do that? By eliminating expenses where they can. They don't have to pay A.I. at all, and it can do the same thing as lower-level workers can. If you just got a job, it feels like catching the last flight out of Vietnam.
I mean customer service, data entry, entry-level jobs, bookkeeping, and some tech jobs are all being eliminated right now. In the next 5 years, what's to say more jobs won't be eliminated? Almost every job will be impacted by A.I. in some capacity in the next 5 years, which isn't exactly a good thing because you'll have way too many people unemployed while the price of everything continues to rise, so it can potentially disrupt the entire economy.

Massive Data Centers Being Built to Support It
Yeah, these AI bots need these massive data centers to function properly, so be prepared, especially if you live in a rural area, because that's where they're targeting to build these suckers. On top of that, they need tons of water to cool down, causing potential water shortages, and they consume a lot of energy, so expect to have high electric bills.
And when an actual outage occurs, the whole network across whichever area it is blacks out too. And everyone complains until hours later, when someone finally gets a brain and fixes it.

Deepfakes
This stuff is actually so scary, I'm not even kidding about it. Basically, they can use AI to replicate images, audio, video, or whatever to where you can hardly tell the difference between what's real or not. Criminals use these for fraud purposes, and it can also mimic people saying and doing things they never did. It can really ruin someone, like putting them in a pornographic video or something.

Spreading Misleading Information and Presenting It as Fact
Fake news is nothing new, but what's dangerous is how easy it is to generate false headlines and fake stories that sound convincing but are completely false. AI is notorious for "hallucinating," or giving wrong answers confidently. Deepfakes also play a key part in this as well. This is dangerous because nobody knows who to trust anymore or what's really happening. It's so easy to create clickbait and "slop" that's inaccurate now, thanks to AI.

Autonomous Weaponization
It sounds like something out of a movie, but basically, there are weapons and machines that rely on algorithms to identify and attack targets without any human intervention, which can obviously lead to a laundry list of problems, like violating international laws and being generally unpredictable, resulting in the escalation of conflicts.
How do you hold AI accountable? What happens when there are multiple mass casualty events? If we're not careful, it'll lead to WW3 and wipe out humanity as we know it.

Criminals Can Use It to Hack People
Of course, with artificial intelligence, it can end up in the wrong hands. For every person who uses AI for good, there's the same amount of people, if not more, using it for bad things like cyberattacks and phishing attacks.
We all know the emails and text messages that are scams now. Hackers are using AI to make these attacks more sophisticated, not to mention the ability to mimic voices and pictures to make it more difficult for unsuspecting people to detect, especially the older generation.

Decline in Student Learning from A.I. Use
It's obvious students have been using A.I. to their advantage for a while now. I get it. I mean, I used it to cheat on a couple of assignments and whatever. It's an easy shortcut, and students love to find ways to make their lives easier. The problem is that it becomes a habit, and it's hard to break out of that.
It's one thing if you're using it for the Pythagorean theorem or some useless math equation to try and explain it in a way that makes sense, but it's also obvious when you do use it, so you get in trouble with it on essays and whatever else. I'm not saying you can't use it at all, but just realize now that the next generation of doctors and lawyers are probably heavily relying on A.I. in school right now, so yeah.

Inaccurate Answers
I swear half the time I use AI, it always spews some sort of bull that I just know is inaccurate, and it doubles down on it as if it's the right answer. I know I'm not the only one who thinks this. The AI bot literally "hallucinates," as it's technically called.
Not only is it irritating and frustrating when this happens, but it really does make you feel like you're the one in the wrong, and it's not. I know that these companies disclose that "A.I. can make mistakes," but really, it's so annoying that these bots don't even understand that they're in the wrong. This can lead to the spread of misinformation or, worse, lead to massive consequences with serious ramifications, like falsifying documents or miscalculating medication doses.
