Top Ten Most Meaningless Things to Base Our Self-Worth OnI would've made the title more grammatically correct by calling it "Top Ten Meaningless Things On Which We Base Our Self-Worth", but it didn't sound right.
I hope all of you are happy and confident. Your self worth is based on you alone! And your loved ones, that's what makes you awesome!
I truly believe that appearances are not important. Clichè or not; they really aren't important. Good lord if I based self worth on my looks alone, I would have met my maker years ago! It sadddens me to know that looks, to most people is the be all and end all. If you are a half-decent human being, to anyone who knows you, you'll look beautiful anyway! So what's the point of worrying?
Honestly, I don't think I've ever encountered someone who I thought was truly, outwardly ugly. It's always been personality that sealed the deal.
Appearances are on the outside, personality and a good heart is on the inside. Looks aren't what count.
Are you kidding? I wanna look fabulous! Just kidding, if you're good on the inside, then that's awesome.
I will never be popular. I know that and accept that. My friends and I hang out at one of the far tables, and that's most likely more fun than being dissed at the popular kids table
The most meaningless one goes here, of course. I have never cared for popularity and I don't think that's going to change. Puberty may have something to say about that though...
Popularity isn't completely based off how many friends you have, it's about what others think of you. You can't call yourself popular if you act like a total jerk to people.
I am NEVER going to be popular: I'm an autistic social outcast who has unausal interests compared with other kds my age. I don't want to be popular, anyway. I'd never get to be alone at school.
As long as you're healthy, weight is quite meaningless! I have never struggled with this personally, but seeing other people go through body insecurity is just awful!
As Meghan Trainor says, every inch of you is perfect, from the bottom to the top!
My Asian relative: you gain 1 lb=you are fat=you need a diet
Similar to richness, but the amount of respect people have towards you. This can also apply to if you're young and no one listens to you... Etc.
Fact is that social media enhances one's depression quite dramatically, because other people look perfectly happy on it.
Its terrible to lower your self-esteem because you don't "fit in" with all the cool people. All the amazing people in the world, are deviant or set apart, not part of the crowd.
Just be yourself, people, it isn't THAT hard!
Trying to be cool isn't cool.
Social class is completely nuts and says nothing about who you are.
In response to my drawings, I often have people saying things like: "I can't do anything" or "I wish I was talented", and let me tell you, first off, that is the complete opposite of how I want my drawings to make you feel! Secondly, your personality and people who love you create you. A talented person who is egotistical and mean doesn't even compare to a good personality!
Unfortunately, something I did struggle with. Now, I know I'm not stupid, but I still put too much of my self-worth into those letters on the report card. I beat myself up over an A- and most of the time, it's one project or test I completely bombed and happened to be worth a lot. They're hardly even reflective of how smart you really are and have become increasingly unreliable over the years for evaluating a student's progress.
Good grades do not equal intelligence. They also won't make you a better person.
EVERYONE HAS FLAWS. Unless you're Jesus or something, learn to live with it, and don't ever let them bring you down!
This, I think, is most important. Those people are separate from you, so why let them dictate how you act or feel?
Success is when luck, hard work, and talent come into play. But sometimes it's just luck. Hardly a good judge for self worth.
You also need to have a good reputation outside the Internet.
