Top Ten Meaningless Things to Base Our Self-Worth On

I would've made the title more grammatically correct by calling it "Top Ten Meaningless Things On Which We Base Our Self-Worth", but it didn't sound right.
I hope all of you are happy and confident. Your self worth is based on you alone! And your loved ones, that's what makes you awesome!

The Top Ten

1 Appearance

Honestly, I don't think I've ever encountered someone who I thought was truly, outwardly ugly. It's always been personality that sealed the deal. - keycha1n

Are you kidding? I wanna look fabulous! Just kidding, if you're good on the inside, then that's awesome. - IronSabbathPriest

Appearances are on the outside, personality and a good heart is on the inside. Looks aren't what count. - Turkeyasylum

What's so go9d about looks? - jmepa123

2 Popularity

I will never be popular, I'm a social reject at school. That's why me and my 5 friends eat in the corridor outside the library at school. - IronSabbathPriest

I will never be popular. I know that and accept that. My friends and I hang out at one of the far tables, and that's most likely more fun than being dissed at the popular kids table - Haumea

The most meaningless one goes here, of course. I have never cared for popularity and I don't think that's going to change. Puberty may have something to say about that though... - keycha1n

I am NEVER going to be popular: I'm an autistic social outcast who has unausal interests compared with other kds my age. I don't want to be popular, anyway. I'd never get to be alone at school. - RockFashionista

3 Weight

As long as you're healthy, weight is quite meaningless! I have never struggled with this personally, but seeing other people go through body insecurity is just awful! - keycha1n

As Meghan Trainor says, every inch of you is perfect, from the bottom to the top! - Turkeyasylum

And now you got my parody of All About That Bass stuck in my head. "Cause I'm not all about that bass! " - RiverClanRocks

My Asian relative: you gain 1 lb=you are fat=you need a diet

4 Social Status

Fact is that social media enhances one's depression quite dramatically, because other people look perfectly happy on it. - PositronWildhawk

Similar to richness, but the amount of respect people have towards you. This can also apply to if you're young and no one listens to you... Etc. - keycha1n

5 Coolness

Its terrible to lower your self-esteem because you don't "fit in" with all the cool people. All the amazing people in the world, are deviant or set apart, not part of the crowd. - keycha1n

Trying to be cool isn't cool. - PetSounds

Just be yourself, people, it isn't THAT hard! - Haumea

6 Richness

Social class is completely nuts and says nothing about who you are. - keycha1n

7 Talent

In response to my drawings, I often have people saying things like: "I can't do anything" or "I wish I was talented", and let me tell you, first off, that is the complete opposite of how I want my drawings to make you feel! Secondly, your personality and people who love you create you. A talented person who is egotistical and mean doesn't even compare to a good personality! - keycha1n

9 Grades

Unfortunately, something I did struggle with. Now, I know I'm not stupid, but I still put too much of my self-worth into those letters on the report card. I beat myself up over an A- and most of the time, it's one project or test I completely bombed and happened to be worth a lot. They're hardly even reflective of how smart you really are and have become increasingly unreliable over the years for evaluating a student's progress. - keycha1n

Good grades do not equal intelligence. They also won't make you a better person.

10 Flaws

EVERYONE HAS FLAWS. Unless you're Jesus or something, learn to live with it, and don't ever let them bring you down! - keycha1n

The Contenders

11 Doubt
12 Another's Opinion

This, I think, is most important. Those people are separate from you, so why let them dictate how you act or feel? - PositronWildhawk

13 Success

Success is when luck, hard work, and talent come into play. But sometimes it's just luck. Hardly a good judge for self worth. - keycha1n

15 Online Reputation

You also need to have a good reputation outside the Internet.
