Nu-metal? From memory? If so, they were borderline respectable. So long as they don't move past #400 then I think most metal fans would be happy.

These guys are literally, one of the best bands on this list... Along with the insightful lyrics, the amazing vocals, and great instumemtalization I'm gonna say they deserve top 25

82 Napalm Death Napalm Death Napalm Death are a British grindcore/death metal band formed in Meriden, West Midlands, England, in 1981. Lol! So they're fans now scream in falsetto unison at their live shows, like King Diamond?

Pure grind. This band have kicked asses so many times that they're fans got castrated.

83 Unleashing Vengeance
84 Dethklok Dethklok Dethklok is both a virtual band featured in the Adult Swim animated program Metalocalypse and a real band created to perform the band's melodic death metal music in live shows. Both bands were created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha. ...read more.

Although it was started on a T.V. show, the level of talent show by the band is greater the most on this list. Gene Hoglan, is one of the best metal drummers ever, and Brendan Small is an extremely good guitarist, together they create the MOST METAL MUSIC EVER.

This is the greatest Death Metal band I've ever heard of. They take everything which is brutal and make it into a song. For example, when the world needs a song about mass mermaid murder, they're there to make it real. Not only that, but the riffs in their songs will rock (or metal) your world when you hear them.

What can I say dethklok like gives me the adrenaline no other music gives me it makes me mad and happy at the same time, also I love lifting weights to their bad ass riffs and lyrics. Dethklok kicks ass.

I am Doctor Rockso the Rock n Roll clown! I'm here to say I DO COCAINE!

85 Agalloch Agalloch

Positively surprised to find them on this list, considering they aren't that popular outside of the underground black metal scene. This band has produced some of the most beautifully haunting and atmospheric albums I've ever heard. They're beyond great and deserve way more recognition.

In fact their sounds are the best folk metal I heard till now.

86 Periphery Periphery Periphery is an American progressive metal band based in Washington, D.C., formed in 2005. They are known for their heavy, progressive sound which employs poly-rhythmic patterns and soaring melodies.

I tried my best with this mob, and the production values are great, the vocalist is great, the musicianship is great, and the songwriting is great. But yet, they suck! Why? Because they're like the Justin Bieber of metal. It's so saccharine and sickly that I can see more techno fans attending their shows than metal fans.

One of the best guitarists on the planet at the moment with some of the best phrasing I've heard in a long while. Massively proficient and all around better than most of the bands above on this list.
Not only is Bulb ridiculously talented himself, his production skills are second to none in the industry having worked on the first Animals As Leaders album and the new Veil Of Maya album.

So excited to see these guys live next month! All the members are so ridiculously talented (being a drummer, I now look up to Matt Halpern as a major influence) and their songs are so fantastic, melodic, heavy and enjoyable! Check out Scarlet, Alpha, Make Total Destroy and Icarus Lives if you wanna get started on them!

Best band ever.

88 GWAR GWAR Gwar, often styled as GWAR, is an American heavy metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia, United States, in 1984, composed of and operated by a frequently rotating line-up of musicians, artists and filmmakers collectively known as Slave Pit Inc.

Awesome band. Made funny songs with heavy riffs and broke the barrier of punk, thrash, metal and speed metal. Should be in the top 25

I agree! Piledriver did a similar thing, though GWAR outlived them. I chuck 'em on every now and again.

Codename: Kids Next Door brought me here.

89 Death Angel Death Angel Death Angel is an American thrash metal band from Daly City, California, initially active from 1982 to 1991 and again since 2001. Death Angel has released seven studio albums, two demo tapes, one box set and two live albums.

These guys belong in the top 10 for sure (but I put them in the number one spot). Even when they were teenagers on their debut album them blew most of these other bands away. - jimocracy

Here! Here! A 16 year-old drummer on one of the finest thrash debuts in 'The Ultraviolence'. Progressive thrash with 'Frolic Through The Park', and knocked it out the park with 'Act III'. Only tragedy stopped them in their tracks. Like early Metal Church, they could have been anything...

Death Angel doesn't get the respect the deserve. Their a really good band that came out of the Bay area Thrash scene and their last album Relentless Retrubution is awesome. Ultra Violence, and Act I are trash classics in my opinion and Death Angel needs to be shown a little more love.

Bull that they aren't in the top 25. Rob is super fast and their newest album was so fast and complex that they should be fully redeemed by now.

90 Underoath Underoath

These guys definitely deserve to be higher on this list

Underoath did actually have a good album called Cries of the Past, before they became that godawful, non-metal, whiny band we know them as today. But one good album does not equal a good band.

Heck they are #1 in my opinion. Sooo cool. Aaron Gillespie is an awesome drummer

THIS MUSIC IS SO INTERESTING

91 Orphaned Land

They are the only SPECIAL band in this list

92 Within Temptation Within Temptation Within Temptation is a Dutch symphonic metal band founded in April 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt.

Within Temptation used to be a Metal Eminence, Power, Sympho, Gothic, and Folk metal people, know which top should they be.

#158? Are you effing kidding? No, they deserve to be higher! If it were not for them, I would not like metal today.

93 Animals As Leaders Animals As Leaders Animals as Leaders is an American progressive metal band from Washington, D.C. It is composed of guitarists Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes along with drummer Matt Garstka, having been formed by Abasi in 2007. Their musical style has also been described as djent.
94 Powerwolf Powerwolf

What?! Powerwolf is 489?!
He deserve to by much higher. They're playing very melodic metal and the vocal is very good. Just listen Night of The Werewolfes or Murder at Midnight!

95 Crossfaith

A criminally underrated band along with Another Story - Gamarax537

96 Spiral Architect
97 Cradle of Filth Cradle of Filth Cradle of Filth are a British extreme metal band that formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic black metal and other extreme metal styles.

Cradle of Filth should be in the top ten! My preference laugh out loud

Another day, another fad. People will be still (yawn) be talking about Master of Puppets, Reign In Blood, Peace Sells in 100-years time whilst this rabble will just be obsolete.

Their lyric can make a movie you know

They should be 1 period.

Amazing band... So underrated its sad. Each song is great, hope they get off hiatus. Good luck Ben

I wish people heard more of breaking benjamin. There is nothing quite like their music and bejnamin burnley is an amazing singer.

I LOVE this band! Ben has an AWESOME voice and I can't help but LOVE his screams! Very talented!

One of the most inspiring and talented bands ever.

99 KISS KISS Kiss is an American hard rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and the band's original manager, Lew Linet.

KISS is one of the best bands in the world to ever-come out of heavy metal, ever be on stage, rock the world and change the lives of millions with a loud and proud legacy of shock rock, merchandise and the hottest show on earth!

I would have a gang bang with all of them

I have all the Kiss cards with bubblegum in them. Lol. Definitely a marketing machine but better yet, they backed it up musically.

sucks

This band has more talent in one of the members fingers than most of the top bands do total. These guys are what metal is all about

Best ever metal songs are here...don't know why its on 86th place..Songs leveler, back burner, marianas trench, composure, white washed are so energetic...and their new album RESCUE AND RESTORE chanceless complete metal I ever heard.
