Top 10 Moments/Things That Prove That the 2000s Aren't Bad After All

I personally think the 2000s are overhated. I mean yes there were awful things like 9/11 and the War on Terror but besides all that, they still had many great moments within them. Heck I even think it's one of the best decades for entertainment (even more so than the 80s and 90s).

For this list I'll be adding important events/things that came out in it. It's not in any particular order but you're free to add whatever you want (and by things I mean it could be anything like movies, TV shows, video games, devices, etc. Just don't add troll items please).
The Top Ten
1 The Internet improving

The internet was a lot slower back in the 90s but it was getting better in the 2000s. It was also a time where big name sites like YouTube, Facebook and Wikipedia started.

2 YouTube YouTube is a global video-sharing website headquartered in San Bruno, California, United States. The service was created by three former PayPal employees on February 14, 2005. In November 2006, it was acquired by Google for US$1.65 billion. YouTube is ranked as one of the most visited websites, securing the 2nd place, only surpassed by Google Search. As of 2024, the CEO of YouTube is Neal Mohan... read more

The biggest video sharing website in the world was founded on 2005. It was where we can finally watch videos online if we needed to.

It wasn't even that good back then though. I mean what was there? A guy in a zoo? Lame! (Yes I stole that joke from an Odd1sout video)

3 Saddam Hussein captured

This is very important because he was one of the most evil people in the 21st century.

He is one of the worst and most evil people ever lived.

4 Barack Obama is elected as the first black American president

Say what you will about Obama, but he was the first African American president. This is a very important time in American history.

An important event. Yes even if you dislike Obama.

5 Wikipedia Wikipedia is a multilingual free online encyclopedia created on January 15, 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. The website is written and maintained by a community of volunteers through open collaboration and a wiki-based editing system. Individual contributors, also called editors, are known as Wikipedians. Wikipedia is the largest and most-read reference work in history. It is consistently one of the 10 most popular websites ranked by the Similarweb and former Alexa; as of 2022, Wikipedia was ranked the 7th most popular site. It is hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation, an American non-profit organization funded mainly through donations.

Either love or hate Wikipedia, it still was a very helpful source that allowed many to research information about particular things.

6 Facebook Facebook is a corporation and an online social networking service headquartered in Menlo Park, California, in the United States.

7 DVDs started getting more popular

Even though the first DVD was invented around 1995, they started to grow in the 2000s. Sorry nostalgists but I personally find VHS tapes to be a pain in the neck as they're more likely to break than DVDs.

8 iPod

This is important because it made listening to music much easier. Now you can take your music with you everywhere you go and listen to it anytime you want.

9 The First 3 Seasons of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

The first three seasons (the original, A's, and StrikerS) have to be the greatest magical girl anime of all time in my opinion and they first aired 2004-2007 (in Japan). It's such a shame that people very rarely talk about the franchise any more though.

10 Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Bottom two are only entertainemnt based. Anyway, this is one of the best films to ever come out of the 2000s. It won over multiple audiences, pleased hundreds of critics and won many awards. It truly is a modern day classic to for many generations to watch.

Yes it may have been a great trilogy but this is subjective. (Nothing wrong with that. Just pointing it out)

The Contenders
11 CGI started to get better

Say what you will about CGI but sometimes filmmakers eventually have to use it. The 2000s is where it started to get better (a really good use of it was in The Two Towers where Gollum lools more realistic than any CGI character at that time).

The effects in most movies were good.

12 2000s Punk Rock

The best era of punk rock in my opinion. We got so many great bands, such as Blink-182 and Green Day.

13 Mega Man Battle Network
14 Dimash Kudaibergen Dinmukhamed Kanatuly Kudaibergenov, commonly known as Dimash Kudaibergen (born May 24th, 1994) is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Dimash is best known as a contestant of Chinese talent show "Singer 2017" where he was declared a runner-up. He is also known for possessing a wide vocal range, measuring up to 5 octaves.

Bots found the list. Great.
