Top 10 Movies of 2017 that Should Be Nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2018 Oscars

As the Oscars 2018 approach, 26 animated films have been submitted to the Oscars to see if they qualify (a lot I never heard of) and only 5 will be nominated. Which of these movies do you think should be nominated?
The Top Ten
1 Coco

It doesn't come out in the US until later this month, but in Mexico where it was already released, it received ASTOUNDING praise which is what makes me excited for this. This will definitely get a nomination too since Pixar and Disney usually get them.

Unless The Lego Batman Movie wins, Coco without a doubt has this in the bag.

Why not? Almost any Pixar film will surely win

Either this or Lego Batman is gonna win it

2 The Lego Batman Movie

Unpopular opinion: I think this movie was lousy. Batman's one-dimensional arrogance got old quick and made him uninteresting while the explosion of pop-culture references (not counting the great references made to earlier Batman films) felt like a distraction that was meant to make us forget that the whole third act of the film wasn't interesting. Basically, the opening of the film was great and then the movie ran out of steam. I didn't even bother with 'The Lego Ninjago Movie' after the reviews made it sound like this film all over again.

Well, the nominations are in. And the nominees are: The Breadwinner, Loving Vincent, Coco, The Boss Baby, and Ferdinand. Great, Lego Batman got snubbed over The Boss Baby and Ferdinand? I mean, Ferdinand isn't a bad movie, but there were a lot more animated movies that deserved the two spots more than The Boss Baby and Ferdinand.

I'm not surprised this movie didn't get nominated, don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this movie, but considering The Lego Movie didn't get nominated at the 2015 Oscars, I thought that this and The Lego Ninjago Movie would not be nominated for this year's Oscars. I'm just glad that The Emoji Movie wasn't nominated.

So far this is my favorite animated movie of the year, though Coco comes soon, and I definitely think it deserves a nomination, ESPECIALLY after "The Lego Movie" didn't even though it is one of my favorites of all time!

3 Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie

It was surprisingly-decent, I'd say. I was expecting it to be terrible until the reviews convinced me to give it a go. The film was definitely designed to appeal primarily to kids but I enjoyed it, for the most part. A fun distraction, if nothing more.

I haven't watched it but lots of people think it is good.

4 Cars 3

This movie was pretty good, and I do see it getting nominated because Pixar.

Yes, It Needs To Be Nominated.

5 My Little Pony: The Movie

While critics were quite harsh on it and it got mixed reviews at best, I can see why most people wanted My Little Pony: The Movie to be considered for the Oscars. Only one problem with this item's submission: it was never submitted as one of the 26 movies chosen to be considered for this year's Oscar nominees. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if any MLP fan is reading this.

6 A Silent Voice

Ordinal Scale was great, but I think the anime movie most likely to take the nomination would be A Silent Voice. I haven't seen it (nor do I have yet to see Ordinal Scale, unfortunately), but it's themes of bullying in society and how it's able to craft a touching story based on it should guarantee it a nomination out of all the other 5 anime entries.

This movie needs to be nominated, it was amazing. It's the most mature film of the year and discusses bullying itself but also redemption and how it can be achieved. My 5 picks to be nominated at the oscars are this movie, coco, loving vincent, breadwinner and the Lego batman movie

It's a shame that this and none of the other anime movies submitted were nominated for the 90th Academy Awards. Goes to show that the Oscars really need to make a separate category exclusively for Japanese animated feature films.

I really hope this movie wins, or at least gets nominated. I've actually seen part of it, and it's beautiful. I hope the judges give this masterpiece a chance.

7 Loving Vincent

It's considered the first fully-painted animated feature film. For setting a milestone in animation like that, Loving Vincent deserves a good spot at nomination for this first in animation history.

I never heard of it, except on Reddit, and people say it's good

8 Ferdinand

It's coming soon, and it would probably qualify most likely, I don't really have an opinion on it

9 Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale

Not sure if this has happened before, but an anime movie based off an existing anime franchise got submitted for this year's Oscars. The movie itself actually has good reviews (I wish it were the same for the anime series), so I think it deserves a spot on this list. Wow, even as an SAO fan myself, I'm pleasantly surprised it got considered for the Oscars. Eh, don't think any movie is going to snub Coco anytime soon.

10 The Breadwinner
The Contenders
11 Smurfs: The Lost Village

Got mixed reviews, I just need entries for the list.

12 The Lego Ninjago Movie

After TLBM I thought twice about seeing this one. If it ever hits Netflix, perhaps I'll watch it.

Just needed another entry, it got mixed reviews.

13 Mary and the Witch's Flower

Eh, not bad for Studio Ponoc's first feature film. Haven't seen it though, but it looks good based on the visuals and the trailer for it.

14 In This Corner of the World

I've never seen it myself, but the premise is very gripping with its fictional yet realistic portrayal of life in Japan before and after the Hiroshima bombing. I can expect this to be a huge Tear Jerker with lots of touching moments that will capture both starkly contrasting sides of Japan's serenely traditional and natural lifestyle and the more violent atrocities committed by the Japanese soldiers. This and A Silent Voice are right up there for the anime movies that deserve nomination the most.

15 Napping Princess

Directed by the same person who worked on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Eden of the East. I'm very intrigued by how the movie explores the concept of how technology continues to evolve and advance in our society, so I might see it whenever I get the chance.

16 Despicable Me 3

It should at least get nominated.

17 Your Name
18 Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie

This movie is definitely going to be good, but I'm afraid it shouldn't be on this list. Why? The Jungle Movie is a T.V. movie. This list is meant for animated FEATURE films that had THEATRICAL releases. So unfortunately, The Jungle Movie wouldn't make it on the list under normal circumstances. Still hyped up for it, though.

Now I Added Something that's Truly Good (I Only Added The Emoji Movie Irronicaly)

19 The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales...
20 Birdboy: The Forgotten Children
21 The Emoji Movie

You mean, the greatest masterpiece of a movie with compelling characters that are relatable and have so much emotion, and an unpredictable and life changing plot.

AT least the movie deserved to get a Razzie nomination in just 4 nominations. That Kim Jung-Un of the cinematic universe deserved to get its @$$ kicked.

You know what I was expecting some troll to submit this sooner or later.

Nope. Don't even know why it's even in the top 10.

22 The Star
23 Journey Beyond Sodor

I'm Not Sure If This Will Get Nominated, I Always Thought Thomas And Friends Movies Never Get Nominated.

24 The Boss Baby

Its been nominated, along with Coco (should win), Ferdinand, Loving Vincent and The Breadwinner. And no Lego Batman. I think the academy just won't nominate a movie with the Lego in the title - Gangem

Yeah... No way is this going to get nominated. Well, time to start voting Ordinal Scale and Witch's Flower up!

Apparently, it got nominated for an Annie... Hopefully, that won't be the case for the Oscars...

This movie is bad, but it's Dreamworks, so anything could happen
