Top 10 An American Tail Franchise Characters
For this list we'll be looking at the top characters from the An American Tail Franchise. It began with the eponymous 1986 film An American Tail and continued with the sequel An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, followed by several direct to video sequels and a TV series.
Main protagonist of the franchise in the first movie Fievel gets separated from his family during the trip to America when he arrives he tries to search for them with his new friends Toni and Bridget but both prove to be incapable of actually helping him however Feivel does come up with a plan to get rid of the cats by making a giant mouse of Minsk and scaring them onto a boat in the sequel Fievel discovers that Cat R Waul and his gang has lured all the mice to the west in order to exploit their labor and later turn them into mouse burgers and since all the mice have been brainwashed his forced to get help from the down on his luck sheriff dog Wylie Burp and Tiger to put an end to their plan.
Fievel's sister and pretty much the only one of Fievel's family in the first movie who strongly believed he was still alive while their parents gave up any hope, in the sequel she inspires to become a singer and perfomr on stage and gets the opportunity to do so thanks to Cat R Waul and Miss Kitty
Her singing voice is so beautiful, I agree! That high note in "The Girl You Left Behind" was very beautiful.

Fievel's long time friend who he first met and befriended in the first movie after being captured by Warren T and his gang who Tiger was also a member of and despite being a cat he's actually nicer compared to the others as the two instantly become the best of friends, in the sequel Tiger attempts to catch up Fievel's family after they leave by train to go to Green River in the west and he ends up lost in the desery where he is mistaken for a god by a group of Indian mice and later Fievel convinces him to help save his family as well as the other mice from Cat R Waul with help from Wylie Burp, Tiger is voiced by Dom DeLuis who also voiced Jeremy the crow in The Secret of NIMH and Itchy in All Dogs Go to Heaven.

Fievel and Tanya's father who brags about how great America is foolishly believing that lief will be much easier for them and that there are no cats in America as they quickly learn like so many others that life in America is not at all what they were hoping it would be especially with the part about no cat in America being a complete lie as Mama Mousekewitz points out later in the movie, in the third movie Papa plays a much bigger role as he works at a sweatshop along with Tony and tries everything he can to avoid any possible trouble with their boss and his colleagues and saves Tony from almost losing his job and when things get much worse for the workers as they begin to rebel he tries to get them to stop not wanting to anger their boss as things escalates at one point their boss sends the police to literally attack the workers as Papa finally decides to take a stand against their cruelty and later forms workers union.
One of the best animated dads
Another one of characters Fievel befriends who Tony is smitten with, despite making a cameo in the sequel where its hinted that she and Tony got married she never appears in the 3rd and 4th sequel as its established the second movie was just a dream.
She is so underused
The villain of the second movie who just like with Warren T has his gang terrorize the mice of New York and lure them to the sewers where he uses a mouse marionette to convince them all to go west where its later revealed that he plans to exploit their labor and help build his town and later plans on having them sit on a giant mouse trap and turn them all into mouse burgers which is as ridiculous as its sounds Cat R Waul is voiced by non other then John Cleese best remembered for his work on Monty Python.
One of many characters who Fievel meets up with while in America as they two meet up after Fievel is sold off into slave labor by Warren T Rat and after escaping Toni takes Fievel under his wing agreeing to help him find his family though he becomes easily distracted due to his crush on Bridgette, Tony is voiced by Pat Musick and the mother of Mae Whitman Tony would also appear in two more sequels and made minor cameo in the second movie.

Main villain of the first movie whose actually a cat disguised as a giant rat who runs a shady business where he takes unsuspecting immigrant mice and sells them to his business partner Moe for slave labor which he does to Fievel after tricking him into thinking he was taking him to see his family only for him to sold to slavery, its also implied that he makes mice pay him for protection from his cat gang once his true identity is revealed he tries to set fire to the pier's entrance where the mice are hiding at before they release their secret weapon the giant mouse of Minsk that scares him and his gang onto a boat to Hong Kong.
A pigeon who Fievel first meets after arriving to America and while he seems to loose any hope of finding his family Henri convinces him through song to never say never which basically mean to never give up or lose hope as he sends him off with one of the other pigeon's to immigration where he's likely to find his family, Henri is voiced by Christopher Plummer.

Tiger's girlfriend who leaves to go to Green River in the West but finds it not what she was expected, later she is tasked by Cat R Waul to help make Tanya a star and perform at his saloon.
James Stewart's final role
Main antagonist of the third movie and owner of the cheese factor who forces his workers to work long hours for very little pay and should any of them rebel against him Grasping has no problem sending in Chief Brusque to violent beat them who really enjoys brutalizing those who rebel against Mr. Grasping as he gets paid to do so.
