Top 10 Guitarist Showdowns
Ritchie wins - faster, more technical, more innovative. Some credits that belong to Ritchie are attached to Tony Iommi.
Hammet is good, but when it comes to songwriting and long, complex solos, Petrucci easily wins.
John petrucci
I'd like to see this battle! Sadly, Darrel is no longer with us. RIP Dime.
Two VERY influential guitarists in two of the most successful bands of all time.
Randy's awesome solos made Ozzy what he was back then! And if it wasn't for Iommi and his guitar, heavy metal wouldn't exist!
Ritchie Blackmore. Jimmy Page himself admitted that Ritchie was a step ahead.
The two had a falling out in the 80s and 90s. But they're best buddies again! And in two of the most successful thrash metal bands. M/
If you're an Iron Maiden fan, you have to like one or the other! I personally choose Smith. What's your opinion.
Jon's more articulate, plays tighter and has more stamina in his picking hand.
James has been at it longer and is tons more soulful and could fill in for Jon easily if he choose/had to. James is also a better lead player in a pinch.
I'd love to see this. Love them both, they are great rhythm guitarists. Don't know who's gonna win though...
Both fantastic guitarists with great innovations and inspiration...but in terms of guitar playing skills I'd go with David Gilmour, the greatest emotion of rock history
Both are awesome. Solos beyond human understanding. Listen to Pink Floyds "Comfortably Numb" and Rush's "Limelight" to decide!
Ritchie Blackmore - his only competition was Jeff Beck. Ritchie Blackmore is criminally underrated - most of the credits that belong to him are attached either to Jimmy Page or Tony Iommi.
Deep Purple and King Crimson... Two of the most underrated rock bands. SMOKE ON THE WATER!
If Hanneman was still alive, I would have definitely wanted to see this awesome battle!
Hendrix was the inovator while SRV improved Hendrix style. Overall I'd go with Hendrix.
I'm running out of ideas now. It's obvious who I'd want to win. As Motorhead are way better than Avenged Sevenfold.
This showdown actually happened, and luckily the recording equipment was running the whole time.
The result is the historic album "Layla, and Other Assorted Love Songs" by Derek & the Dominos.
Allman tragically died a relatively short time later.
This showdown did happen, and both guys were in the Yardbirds together for almost a year. Beck was the slightly stronger player, but Page had the much stronger personality, and eventually drove Beck out of the band, but not before making some of the most amazing music ever created as they tried to out-do each other.
Without a doubt - Jeff Beck. Jimmy Page is the most overrated guitarist and musician.
