Top 10 Best Theatrical Star Wars Movies

Happy Star Wars Day! Pretty much every year I’m gonna come out with a Star Wars related list in honor of this day. This time, let’s discuss the best theatrical Star Wars films! With the Last Jedi being out, there’s now officially 10 of them. If we’re including Solo, which comes out in a few weeks, then there’s 11. May the 4th be with you.
The Top Ten
1 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

This was the very first Star Wars movie to be released. And it was amazing. To this day, the movie still holds up. A lot of moments feel very real. It actually looks like they’re in space. The set designs are very great, the scenery is amazing, and the effects still look pretty cool. The characters are all so likeable. All the actors do an excellent job at making the characters feel like real people. Han Solo is still my favorite. He’z just a very cool dude and he plays by his own rules. I hope the Solo movie doesn’t suck. It’s amazing that this movie was the start of what would later be one of the greatest franchises of all time. I kinda wish I was born around that time. I would’ve loved to see this movie in theaters and have the same experience that all those people had.

Personal favorite

2 Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

This is the best movie in the prequel trilogy. It is the only one that actually feels like a Star Wars movie. It has some pretty great battles. Especially the final one. It definitely has a darker tone. And it’s great seeing how Anakin became Darth Vader. However, I thought Anakin turning evil was way too rushed. There wasn’t much of a build up. It just kinda happens. I also thought the dialogue was really bad. As well as the acting. As awesome as that final battle at the end is, the acting is hilariously bad. It still suffers from the prequel cringe at times. This movie’s bad, but not as bad as the other prequels.

My personal favourite, the awesomne fight at the end, and was the overall most emotional

Great flick! 2nd best in the saga.

3 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

Near-masterpiece, I loved the Bespin moments and the hoth battle, so impressive, and Boba Fett was the reason ROTJ was made (and he is one of the best characters in the franchise). But the lightsaber duel between Luke and Vader is so overrated. Sure the line was awesomne. But is it just me, or do I feel like people only worship this movie for this one line?

The best and always will be. Forget about the one who prefers The Phantom Menace over this masterpiece. - Gehenna

So...the best Star Wars movies then? There have never been any Direct-to-DVD Star Wars films released.

Phenomenal in every single way. What a sequel should be.

4 Star Wars: Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi

Winnie the Pooh’s relatives apparently have their own planet. Seriously though, why would they introduce these cute and cuddly teddy bear looking creatures in a trilogy that has a dark tone. The Ewoks feel very out of place. They were the worst thing about the movie for me. Even the way they defeated the stormtroopers was dumb. They were able to take them down by throwing rocks at them. Even though the stormtroopers are wearing armor. There’s a lot to like in this movie though. Darth Vader redeems himself in the end. We even get a pretty heartfelt moment before he dies. The character interactions feel very real and genuine. Each actor does such an excellent job. This was a great way to wrap up the trilogy.

The best of the Original Trilogy, the fight at the end was better than in TESB and he ewoks were cute, and was overall more interesting.

5 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

I don't about you. Rogue One looked great.

Solo: A Star Wars Story looks like it will be pretty good. Also, one of the writers who worked on it was also a writer for Empire Strikes Back. Hopefully it won’t be a disappointment. Rogue One was a movie that absolutely no one asked for. Because who wanted to see an entire movie about how the rebels got the Death Star plans? I thought it sounded like it might be interesting. Unfortunately, I didn’t care for any of the characters. One thing that makes the Star Wars movies so great and memorable is how developed the characters are. In this one, I barely even remember any of their names. They are just so bland and have little to no personality. I didn’t care when they died at the end. They make it look like it’s supposed to be emotional but I felt nothing. However, Darth Vader’s scenes were absolutely amazing. And I will admit that there are some pretty great action scenes. It’s too bad this movie had a lot of wasted potential.

It was decent

6 Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

So Infinity War had a bigger opening weekend than the Force Awakens. That’s great. Although, in my personal opinion, I think the Force Awakens is a better movie than Infinity War. I’m not sure if it’s just because this was the first Star Wars movie I watched in a theater, but I really loved this movie. It was such a great return for the franchise. It introduces us to new characters who are just as likeable as the original characters. The visuals are very impressive, everything is well directed, and action scenes are extremely entertaining. I don’t really get why people hate this film. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that I thought the movie played it a little too safe. It was practically a remake of A New Hope. I see what they were going for, but it felt a little too distracting. Still, this is an incredible movie. I really love watching it.

If I'm honest, this was a bad movie, but watchable at least, it left awesomne cliffhangers and I would rather watch a recycled story with barely any reasons behind the events than a movie with no logic (in my opinion)

One problem I have with this (and The Last Jedi) is the planets don't feel like planets! I thought they were on Earth the whole time they were on a planet.

7 Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi

Eh, I hate this, but I respect your opinion still. Yoda was enough for me to give this movie a F-. He burned a bunch of books, and most characters lack development (Phasma and Snoke in particular), I think it's just sad that all the awesomne cliffhangers from TFA left basically ignored, Rey's parents were just some random merchants, Luke came to Ach-To to die and abandon his optimism.

The Last Jedi sucks! Rian Johnson should jump off a bridge for what he did to the Star Wars franchise! In all seriousness, I thought this was a good movie. Easily the best thing about it was that it introduced new things and new ideas. It also subverted expectations. I personally thought the twist involving Rey’s parents was pretty clever. I also liked the whole Force projection thing. Luke Skywalker using that to confront Kylo Ren was genius. I also loved how much development Kylo Ren got. He became more of an understandable villain. This movie isn’t perfect though. I hated the subplot involving Finn and Rose. Mainly because I hate Rose. Worst Star Wars character ever. Maybe even the worst Disney character ever. Their subplot didn’t really add much to the movie. Also, Snoke died without getting any development. I really wanted to know more about him. Phasma was completely useless again. I also couldn’t stand the Porgs. Still, this is a good movie. If you hate it, please ...more

8 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

I have a feeling this Darthvadern fellow DID NOT grow up with the original three and saw the originals after he saw the 'prequels.' IE this is a kid talking here. How are any of the prequels on this list, to me they aren't even counted as star wars movies. They are complete garbage and taint the Lucas film's reputation as a quality cinema-graphic story telling platform. Jar Jar, Really? Really?

Am I seriously the only one who prefers this over TESB? Don't get me wrong, both are masterpieces, but, there's something charming about this one, it was the first one I saw, and I just loved it! Also, Jar Jar is overhated in my opinion

9 Solo: A Star Wars Story

Meh, this movie was ok. It was nothing special. I felt they could of made something better. I mean there was some good parts, like the train part for example, but not my fave out of the franchise.

Pretty decent, in fact, not bad, not the best, but decent. Should be in the top ten, higher than The Clone Wars, at least!

This was not a good movie

10 Star Wars: The Clone Wars

This Show And Movie Should Be On Hulu And Adult Swim

The Contenders
11 Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

I disagree with you this being the worst movie. I thought this was a really good movie (though the worst of the original six). It introduced us the space waifu Jango Fett, and the skilled Count Dooku (two great characters) and while the romance was awful, it still had a meaning, they had to get togheter at some point, unlike a certain romance in a newer Star Wars movie I do not speak of
