Top 10 Best Mario Kart Items of All Time

Bullet Bill
Bullet Bill is a fictional enemy character in Nintendo's Mario franchise. First appearing in Super Mario Bros. in 1985, Bullet Bills are black, missile-like characters that travel across the screen and can strike the player. They are among the most recognizable recurring enemies in the series.
The Bullet Bill is just like the Chain Chomp but better. First, it goes faster, and second, it makes you invincible (you are still vulnerable when using the Chain Chomp).
With this item, you become invincible, go super fast, and you don't have to do anything when this speeder is being used.
The Bullet Bill is a good item, especially when you're in 8th or 7th place. It will usually get you to 5th place.

Star
Mario Kart Wii Maple Treeway Strategy: Immediately take the shortcut without using a Mushroom and watch as you go from 10th to 1st place with the right item. You can get a Star, Bullet Bill, or another useful item to zoom ahead. You also have a chance to get a Star from the leaf pile first.
It's nice DESTROYING everything. You can get through shortcuts, grass, bananas, shells, and yes, even blue shells!
This is the best one. You can hit people out of your way, and I think you get five or ten times more speed.
-
Triple Red Shells
This item can easily boost your position by one place, or even up to three places if you're lucky. Plus, it can make other players really angry if you manage to hit them with all three shells on purpose.
These are so good. You can just spam the L button and hit everyone with your red shells of awesomeness.
These are one of the shells that hit the racer in front or behind you.
-
Golden Mushroom
While it may not be the most strategic item, it's a game about having fun. What's more fun than crashing into everyone else and sending them spiraling out of control?
This mushroom is better than any other. If you press it more than once over and over again, you can go ten times faster than others.
I love the concept of this item, and it turned out phenomenal. You can just mash the trigger constantly and zoom past everybody.
-
Lightning Bolt
This is probably my favorite item. It shrinks everyone, except for the people with stars.
Love this item! Everyone loses their items while you can zip right by them!
My brother was playing Mario Kart on my Switch (I let him), and when he got hit by the Lightning Bolt, he said that this game is an insult to the laws of physics because lightning is supposed to make you go faster. LOL.

Blue Shell
The spiny shell, commonly referred to as the blue shell, is a well-known power-up item in the Mario Kart series of video games. It targets the player in first place and is famous for its ability to drastically change race outcomes. The item was first introduced in Mario Kart 64 and has appeared in nearly... read more
The winged Spiny Shell isn't that helpful, but the wingless version is. Not only does it blow up on the first-place kart, but it can also hit the other karts in its way!
The ultimate friendship ender. This item is what has put Mario Kart alongside Mario Party as a game you play with your friends if you want more enemies.
This item will chase and explode on the person in first place. If you're in first and you get it, it will explode on you. A perfectly timed Mushroom boost can avoid it.
-
Super Horn
When it was first introduced, everyone got excited because it was made to destroy the Blue Shell. People want revenge on the item that has cost them so many victories.
Pretty good if there are a lot of opponents around you.
The one item that can defeat the Spiny Shell.
-
Chain Chomp
Chain Chomps, known as Wanwan in Japan, are metal, barking ball-and-chain-like creatures that are restrained by chains and are a main enemy in the Mario franchise. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 and have since become a recurring enemy in various Mario games. Their design was inspired by... read more
This item should come back in the next Mario Kart game.
The Chain Chomp is a cool item in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! It's great for helping you catch up when you're in last place or something.

It's just so satisfying to squash everyone.
Mega Mushroom is very underrated.

Big Mushroom
You can smash anyone, and it is easy to avoid.
-
Lucky 7
"The Lucky Seven, huh? More like, 'we're out of ideas' seven." - Nathaniel Bandy
-
Triple Mushroom
Time trials could not survive without this.
You can use tons of shortcuts with it.
-
Crazy 8
-
Heart
This feels so powerful. Not only does it act like a shield that blocks an attack, but it also takes the item so you can use it too.
This is a good item for defense. I still wish it could protect you from three items instead of two and that a Heart wouldn't get wasted when you hit a Mushroom or Star.
Bowser shells as Peach! Time for revenge on being kidnapped so many times!
-
Triple Banana
They're good for blocking shells.
-
8 Power Up
You get 8 items, but I always just end up throwing them all over the place instead of strategically using them. And it has a Blooper!
I think this is a little better than Lucky 7, but to improve this item, instead of a Coin, you should get a Blue Shell in the group.
Crazy 8. It's slightly better than Lucky 7 due to the addition of one Coin.
-
Winged Spiny Shell
Oh my gosh, I had this once when I was in first place, and then one came and I lost the race and the cup. It was the Class Championship, not at school.
Getting hit by it is bad, but at least it's part of the competition.
-
Fire Flower
-
Thunderbolt
If you don't have the Bullet Bill, Chain Chomp, or a Golden Mushroom to do the work, then the Thunderbolt can. It's extremely useful for catching up because it slows down the karts by shrinking them, and you can flatten them.
It helps you catch up in the race, and you can send it to another player so you don't shrink. Very underrated and unique power-up.
This item helps you catch up, and you can chain it in last and have an 8th or 12th place box in the top half of the pack.
-
Feather
It was a nice idea for Nintendo to bring the Feather item back to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe... but it's only available in Battle Mode.
-
Giga Mushroom
You will get a tremendous amount of size that will allow you to crush anything in your way.
-
Boomerang Flower
I love hitting others twice with the same Boomerang.
You can just snipe and snipe and snipe.
They are quite decent, if you ask me.
-
Boo
Steal an item from a random player! You might get a Bob-omb, a Star, a Bullet Bill, or a Gold Mushroom. If you're unlucky, you might just get a Coin. You seem to get Boo more often when you're in first place...
Steals your opponent's item: It can be good if it gets you something like a Red Shell.
-
Mushroom
Use it in dangerous situations and for shortcuts!
