Top Ten Best Movies Without Best Picture Oscar

The Top Ten Best Movies Without Best Picture Oscar

1 The Shawshank Redemption

Simply the best... but what else does one expect from the mind of Stephen King?

A perfect movie.. should have won Academy Award for Best Director, Film, Actor, Supporting Actor, Screenplay and Cinematography. - redgedawson

An extraordinary and uplifting film, that really deserved critical acclaim, its too bad Forest Gump was also a movie made in that year.

U wont see many movies, which has touched simplicity like this does. A pure Classic. - redgedawson

2 Saving Private Ryan

I've not seen Shakespeare in Love, but how that beat this, I will never know.

My father and I love to this movie

3 The Dark Knight

A flawless acting by the cast especially Heath Ledger, great story line and great direction. Too bad it did not even get the best picture nomination.

Slumdog millionaire is a crap compared to this

Mask of the phantasm anyone or am I alone

Tim Burton < Christopher Nolan agree and I love this movie and Christopher Nolan if you are reading this you are my hero.

4 GoodFellas
5 Citizen Kane

Yeah, I think this didn't win because so many people thought it was bad. It was good it was nominated, though.

It's amazing how a whole audience's perception can change over time. - dureckl

"For those who think it is overrated, watch all of the American cinema prior to this movie. Then watch Citizen Kane".

BEST MOVIE EVER! From technique to acting its just a masterpiece

Biggest oscar snub of the last decade

This movie shoul've taken oscar

22 On Golden Pond
23 Inception
24 Vertigo
25 The Avengers

What a perfect movie! Should it get more than it did? Like for example be nominated for best picture. Avatar and Inception got nominated so why not The Avengers? Great sound mixing, great music, the best special effects I ever seen outside Pacific Rim, great sound editing, great cinematography, great everything. This was awesome!

26 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2

This was a magnificent film, both in story and in detail. It by no means surpasses the novel, but ought to have been a solid contender for the Best Picture Oscar. However, Hugo won the award. I am boycotting the Academy Awards from now on.
