The Top Ten

I Love Rock 'N Roll - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Probably the best song of 1982

2Rock 'n' Roll - Led Zeppelin
Been a long time since I...

2 Guitars and a screamin' lead singer. What else could you want. Direct and rockin'

Plain out rock and roll at the core
Its been a long time
[Newest]One of my favorite songs from my favorite band

3It's A Long Way To The Top - AC/DC
Anthemic from start to finish and pure rock brilliance to put bagpipes right along side the instrument of rock 'n roll. It crunches and it soars while still remaining true to rock n roll roots.

GREAT! I love AC/DC. I love the bagpipes in this song also. Awesome!
Any rock song that has a bagpipe solo is awesome.
[Newest]This is the first good rock song with bagpipes, and its one of my favorites now

4Rock and Roll All Nite - KISS
One of the only bands on this list that is still rocking out in arenas today. Rock and Roll all Night is the anthem to all partys anywhere
kiss rocks

5Takin' Care of Business - Bachman-Turner Overdrive

6We Will Rock You - Queen

7Rock and Roll Music - Chuck Berry
Chuck started it all and the Beatles covered it nicely.

Love this song. Its my favorite of all AC/DC songs

9Old Time Rock and Roll - Bob Seger

10Rock N' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - AC/DC

17So You Want To Be a Rock 'N' Roll Star - The Byrds
Petty does a nice live cover of this classic song.

18It's Only Rock 'n' Roll - The Rolling Stones
But I like ithah...

The playfulness that Jagger puts into the vocals is almost contradictory to Rock yet along side the 2 guitar attack and rhythm section of Watts and Wyman this song say loud and clear... I like it tah...

Wicked vocals, fun song

19Rock Rock Till You Drop - Def Leppard

20Rockin' All Over the World - Status Quo

21Money for Nothing - Dire Straits
Talkin' 'bout perceptions. So easy to be a musician. Ask anyone...

Why is it that whenever a song is sung in First Person, and it APPEARS it is the opinion of the singer or writer, there is a lot of controversy? This one and 'Short People' by Randy Newman got a lot of flack for its content. Both are about prejudice as seen from the bigot's view.

22Truckin' - Grateful Dead
Probably the reason the Dead let their fans video tape and tape record their music/shows is that no one would have remembered them unless they were archived somehow. Ah, to have been there...or was I?

23Play Guitar - John Mellencamp
He says it direct, "Forgit all that macho s*** and learn how to play guitar". He could not have written a more basic rock 'n' roll song than this one. Mellencamp even injects a bit of the 'ole garage band into the piece. I never git tired of listening to this one. Lotsa fun.

24Long Live Rock 'n Roll - Rainbow

25Beelzeboss - Tenacious D

26Rock 'n' Roll High School - The Ramones

27American Pie - Don McLean
Though "coded" in most cases, this song mentions The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Dylan, The Stones, Chuck Berry, Janis Joplin, The Byrds, Alan Freed, Phil Spector, of course Buddy Holly, and several more.

28There's Only One Way to Rock - Sammy Hagar

29I Was a Punk Before You Were a Punk - The Tubes
A funny song from THE Rock Satirists whose stage show was intense, sexy, sensual (especially with Re Styles) and with an acrid taste to it. This song from their live album, "What Do You Want From Live" gores all the punks who were basically low-lifes that burned out quickly (i.e., no talent and lots of personal problems). Skewered and served up with relish.

30Rock of Ages - Def Leppard

31Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio? - The Ramones
Rock music doesn't deserve to be generic, don't you agree?

32Rockaway Beach - The Ramones

33Eagle Rock - Daddy Cool

34Rock n Roll N***** - Patti Smith

35Rock and Roll Band - Boston

36Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - AC/DC
A power ballad from AC/DC. but it's a tribute to rock and roll
Heavy decibels are playing on my guitar
We got vibrations comin' up from the floor
We're just listening' to the rock
That's givin' too much noise
Are you deaf you wanna hear some more
