Top 10 Best Animaniacs Characters

The 90s was one of the best decades for cartoons, but none other than Animaniacs. Who was your favorite and why?
The Top Ten
1 Yakko Warner Yakko is the oldest of the Warner Brothers. He's the gang lender, the glib, fast-talker and sly wise-guy in the Groucho/Bugs Bunny mold. He's the thinker, the planner, the schemer, and the trio's recreation director. Each day, he has lots of unique ideas of things for the group to do. He's full of boyish... read more

Yakko Warner has always been my favorite. He is my cartoon crush of choice. He is such an awesome older brother (and practically their parental figure, as supported by evidence in the reboot!). He's just precious in all the right ways. He's hilarious, he's protective, he's adorable - just yes. This is Yakko Warner, who is, to me, the best character in Animaniacs.

Can't wait for Season 2 of the reboot for more of our darling, precious (anxiety-filled, poor baby!) Yakko Warner!

Yakko is just adorable. He's so clever and witty and always manages to put a smile on my face. Being the oldest, his humor is intended for mature audiences. Like Wakko and Dot, he's extremely annoying and a bit perverted, but in a way that's cuddly and charming.

But he still knows when it's time to get serious and is very protective of his younger siblings. How can you NOT love him? He's just perfect!

2 Wakko Warner

Wakko is the greatest character in Animaniacs. He's very entertaining and has a great character design. He's also talented - he can play any instrument, including the fiddle, piano, and drums, and he can sing very well.

Wakko is funny, sweet, caring, and very affectionate. He longs for a dad, as he's always asking men if they'll be his new daddy. Some of his best gag lines include I'm not wearing pants and Uh oh, I feel a bubble coming on. He once showed off a new pair of pants and joked about how they had a big zipper.

In Wakko's Wish, we got to see another side of Wakko. He left town for a year to get a job so he could earn enough to save his sister Dot. While Yakko tucked Dot into bed, telling her stories, Wakko was really down and worried for her, which was really sweet.

Wakko is also portrayed as an actor, and I think he plays his roles competently. He can make you laugh, even when he's doing nothing, just standing there with his tongue hanging out. I love him and am obsessed with this character. He's warm, adorable, and has a cute little face.

3 Dot Warner

Yeah, she really is both of those. She never had girl problems. She was never a stereotype. She had a personality. She wasn't like Webby from DuckTales or Molly from TaleSpin. She was a funny character and Warner Brothers' first true original female character.

Dot is one of the greatest female animated characters ever to appear in kids' faces. Let's face it, she is "cute."

I voted for Dot because she's so low down! I agree Yakko is my favorite - then it's a tie between Wakko and Dot!

4 Slappy Squirrel

Slappy is a character who has a lot to enjoy. Despite the fact that she is a character from many generations ago, she still has a great essence of comedy key to Animaniacs. Her nephew Skippy also adds to the generation gap between those who grew up in the '50s and '60s and those who grew up in the '90s.

Slappy manages to show how the classic Looney Tunes shorts worked well for a newer audience.

Slappy is absolutely hilarious, and I hope she appears in the reboot outside of a non-speaking, few-seconds-on-screen role.

5 The Brain

A total magnificent bastard. He's just so unsympathetic, yet such a great character. Plus, his partner in crime, Pinky, is the second-best character on the show.

An underrated genius who should take over the world. I'd join him. He's my favorite character (tied with Wakko). He has his funny moments to laugh at, so he is the best character (along with Wakko).

Pinky, if you don't stop this foolishness right now, I shall have to hurt you!

6 Pinky
7 Rita

Rita and Runt may not have been the funniest characters of the series, but they were both cute, adorable, memorable characters with interesting personalities. They were the one segment of the show that actually had a dash of reality to it.

Definitely the best segment, definitely. It was quite sad though, but it's nice to have sad things after watching a lot of goofy things in the show.

Great songs, great characters, great story - 10/10, needs to come back in the reboot.

Rita was so cute and cuddly. In my opinion, she was way cuter than Dot. She may not have been as cute as Skippy, but I still strongly say that she was one of the most adorable characters on the show.

8 Hello Nurse

Let's cross our fingers for her to return in the reboot because I REALLY want her to, along with others like Rita and Runt.

She is loyal, hard-working, and hot!

She was the main reason the Warner children met Dr. Scratchansniff and drove him crazy.

9 Dr. Otto Scratchansniff

He looks like Bernie Sanders before Wakko drove Dr. Scratchansniff crazy.

"Your hair is your head. This is hair!"

He should not be the last one. He was the most memorable character of all.

10 Buttons

I feel sorry for this dog. He gets into trouble when all he does is try to save Mindy. Poor dog.

The Contenders
11 The Mime
12 Mindy

How could you not love Mindy and Buttons? My fiancée and I call each other Lady and Mr. Man because of Mindy. Sometimes we fast forward the reruns to that particular cartoon.

We also call each other Dot and Mel Gibson. We even tried to find a cake topper with the two, but we would have had to custom order it, so we decided no cake topper.

13 Katie Ka-Boom

She is one of my favorite characters, which is why I picked her.

14 Skippy Squirrel

I felt sorry for Skippy when he got bullied. He's so nice and a well-mannered little chap.

15 Minerva Mink Minerva Mink is a character in the TV series, Animaniacs. She was created by Warner Bros. animation producers Paul Dini and Sherri Stoner.

I feel kind of sad about Minerva. I mean, she was basically just there to be sexy. But she could've been a WAY better character! They could've de-sexualized her a bit and given her a stronger personality, and she could've just been another awesome character that everyone has a crush on. I mean, come on. Yakko's completely amazing, and don't even try to pretend you didn't have a crush on him growing up. Minerva could've been like that too!

Side note: I feel like if they were going to change her personality, they should make her more like Sharpay from High School Musical. Sorry for ranting. Most of this probably doesn't make sense.

16 Bugs Bunny #inappropriate - Bugs Bunny is a character from "Looney Tunes," not "Animaniacs" Bugs Bunny is an animated cartoon character, created by the staff of Leon Schlesinger Productions (later Warner Bros.) He is one of (if not) the most famous cartoon characters, and he is in the show Looney Tunes. His famous quote is "What's up doc?". He is a gray colored bunny with big teeth and big... read more
17 Ralph
18 Chicken Boo
19 Baloney

Baloney is a friendly friend that we made up ourselves. He likes to play and sing all day, and we made him up ourselves. He is better than Barney.

20 Mindy's Mom
21 Pesto

He's so mean to Squit and always beats him up for interpreting the things he says the wrong way.

It's always funny watching him beat up Squit. He even sounds like Joe Pesci.

22 Daffy Duck #inappropriate - Daffy Duck is a character from "Looney Tunes," not "Animaniacs" Daffy Duck is an animated cartoon character produced by Warner Bros. Styled as an anthropomorphic black duck, the character has appeared in cartoon series such as Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, where he usually has been depicted as the best friend and occasional arch-rival of Bugs Bunny.
