Top Ten Anime Rivalries
This is the best anime rivalry ever! Their rivalry is legendary and still stands strong 33 years after Dragon Ball first started, 22 years after it ended, and continues till now in Dragon Ball Super. They are also two of the most recognized anime characters in a well-known anime series. This is truly the best!
This is the best, and don't deny it, Dragon Ball fans!
Their rivalry is really something worth remembering.
Naruto literally brought Sasuke back from the village. Both of them had an AMAZING fight that ended in both of them losing their arm. Naruto will do anything to make sure that his rival is alive and well. Sasuke will do the same.
I feel that this should be in the top 3. From the first episode to the last episode, some may call it bromance, but I disagree. Other anime rivalries are pretty much stereotypical, but this one stands among them.
They're yin and yang. (If you watched Shippuden to the end, you'll understand.)
Two completely opposite forces that fit perfectly together in a yin-yang.
It's like a magnet. It's the opposite forces that attract.
HOW IS THIS NOT ONE? Both characters have amazing development and personality and are from Death Note, one of the best animes of all time. Plus, their relationship is so interesting. L is trying to put Light behind bars, and Light despises anyone that gets in his way of creating a new world.
At the same time, L is probably the only character in the show that Light may have seen as a friend. And all of the "battles" are so epic.
This rivalry was literally a matter of life and death. Two of Japan's smartest people battling head to head. How is this not the best rivalry?
Definitely a rivalry to consider in top anime rivalries. Kaiba is the world champion Duel Monsters player, then Yugi/Atem comes out of nowhere to defeat him. Now, Kaiba wants to reclaim his title.
Also to consider, they are definitely two sides of the same coin. Yugi believes his friends will guide him, while Kaiba thinks that only using brute strength and superiority will win the game. Whose side of the coin is the right one? That's what makes this rivalry so intense!
These rivals actually have a lot in common, as Yami once said.
I saw someone describe them as yin/yang and fire/ice. I think that's pretty spot on. They are similar in some aspects, opposite and complementary in others. One fights with the arms, the other with the legs. One is cold and rational, the other fiery and emotional.
Though they respect and like each other deep down, they get along like cat and dog. That's why they are the best.
I just love how they fight, and Nami has to hit them both on their heads to shut them up.
The best part is that they actually do care for each other, but they're so similar that they can't stand it, and end up insulting each other and bickering all day long. THE best.
They're not the best rivals, but my most favorite.
(The best rivalry is Naruto vs Sasuke hands down.)
They started off as just bickering pals, but as the story progressed, we got to know their past and how they were together since childhood. We saw how much they actually mean to each other, the actual conflict that comes between their friendship, and how similar they are.
The Newcomers
They're always fighting over Tenchi.
When they first meet, it's clear that there was no way they could get along, even though their fathers arranged for them to be married.
I mostly enjoy how they totally hate each other from the start and have these amazing battles with flying vending machines, signposts, and trash cans around. The awesome moves and how they are toe to toe with each other in different ways are the only reasons their rivalry could keep going for years. It just excites me.
